September...time for a new thread!
145.5 this am
8am breakfast consists of 2 cups of coffee with half and half and liquid stevia sweetener. Saw a client who had an ingrown toe nail so I cut it out for her and thinned her big toe nail, saved her a trip to the podiatrist. noon lunch: grilled tuna steak, collards, beets, cantelope. my 1pm visit was canceled my little lady fell out of bed last night and broke her hip. poor thing. Saw my next client early and she was interesting like most of my clients, gave her a nice pedicure. 3:30pm stopped home and had a quick cup of coffee before my 4 pm appointment with a lady who I found out has end stage kidney failure and is refusing dialysis. she knows she will die and is accepting of that. So I made another appointment in 3 months but don't know if she will still be here or not. Her legs were already starting to swell. I said good bye to her. I love my job and it is sad to say good bye. 5pm snack before dinner: one slice of sharp cheddar cheese and an ounce of almonds. 6pm Dinner: sauteed lemon peppered flounder(I have had better, hubby did not like it either) and steamed corn mixed with shredded carrots and edemame with a couple of pieces of broccoli. Did a little paperwork to chart my visits today. Some computer time then Went to the gym and walked jogged 37 minutes total including a 5 minute walk warm up. 2.7 miles first jog since july....thigh feels fine. Worked up a sweat. Felt good to jog! snack tonight I will have an apple. getting ready to watch x-files with hubby. Will drink some more water which has been lacking today. 9th day AF It has been a great day! |
Hi bizi,
Sounds like it was a good day overall! :) It must be hard to say "goodbye" to your clients when it's necessary. I'd always gotten so attached to mine. There are many I still hold dearly in my heart, even though they had passed on many years ago. Congrats on your meals and your AF days! :D The meals sound delicious! Ultra-low carb? I am glad you know what works for you. :) I'd have to add something like 1/2 c. brown rice or quinoa to each meal. Our diets can affect our moods, sometimes in big ways. Heavier meals may cause us to feel more grounded, more sedated/calm. Lighter meals may cause us to feel less grounded and more energetic. You are an inspiration! :) With Admiration and Gratitude, DejaVu |
145 this morning back to preweight before mini vacation to florida with excessive eating and drinking. amazing how quickly the weight/bloat comes on then a couple of weeks to even out again with mindful eating and no drinking.
Up early today 5:15. Did not sleep very well last night so just got up. Am on my second cup of coffee and just made a fresh pot. Jeff should be getting up soon. He has been getting up earlier than normal with the start of school again to get a decent parking spot. He would rather sleep until 7 like usual. I need to take a shower this morning. Would like to read the newspaper as I have not done that recently. I try to scan the obituaries daily to see if any of my clients have passed. Thank you Mari and dejavu for your continued support. bizi |
and thank you bobby for reading my thread! :)
I don't think 4 cups of coffee was a good idea...I did eat an apple though! bizi Getting ready to go see a new client, she is soaking first. Never know what to expect for new clients! bizi Happy to have a job that I love! |

Keep doing well. Having a job that you love is one of the greatest blessings.:) M |
yes mari he left later today. They are going to change the parking garage. The first 2 floors are for staff. then 3-6 are for students. they are going to make it so that the first 2 floors are for paid parking then faculty 3+4. Don't know when that will happen...i think it stinks.
How is parking for you? bizi |
Today will be the first day that I decrease the geodon in the morning. I am at 75mg of lamictal in the morning with 200mg at night. 40mg geodon in am, 80mg at night for one week. I am going to call into my pdocs office to get the geodon called in 40mg doses, she only prescribed me one weeks dose of 40 anticipating that I would just take the 80 at night, I want to take it 40mg twice a day for more even coverage.
bizi walked in the neighborhood last night even though it was a bit humid. about 2 miles in 40 minutes. Hubby likes to feed cats along the way and one small brown short haired dog. Cat treats! still 145 this am. Happy about that, had Pho( like fuc% minus the ck)a noodle soup with kale and roasted corn and chicken a bit salty but tasty. I forgot to pull out the salmon for tonight I will do that right now. |
All sounds good.

good day.
Got up just before the alarm at 8. Hubby was gone already but fridays are his short days so he will be home early. Had 3 cups of coffee....Started looking getting ideas for our 20 wedding anniversary trip to europe next june, going to go to stone henge for sure, a tour after hours where you actually can go thru the stones, it is expensive but I think it will be worth it! Saw a client before lunch, which was delicious. Shrimp stir fried with onions and peppers over quinoa tabouli, a side of collards with a big side of fresh fruit salad.(melons, peaches, pineapples, bananas and grapes) saw 2 more clients. Last client lived across the street from us. Sweet Barbara. She is pleasantly confused...love her. Snacked on some almonds before dinner. 4oz of orange ginger salmon baked 325 for 12 minutes. perfect! a little rare for my hubbys liking so he microwaved his for about 30 seconds more to cook it up a bit. Side of mixed veggies(brocolli, green beans, mushrooms, carrots) then had the best dark chocolate truffle. MY favorite! got on the computer for a bit after cleaning up the dishes. Actually took some scouring pad and cleaned off part of the sink/faucet that had grime on it from neglect. That felt good. 8:30pm went to Planet Fitness where I walked/jogged on the tred mill for 39 minutes, 2.82 miles burned 300 calories so it said.... 10pm on the computer and getting ready to watch an episode of x-files and eat an apple. I am working tomorrow. Will see 4 clients. Love my job. Need to take a shower after sweating on the tred mill. I will take one tomorrow at 8, have to leave at 930am so maybe I will have time to look at the paper???? nite all! thanks for reading my thread. bizi |
Take care there bizi.
You're doing really well. |
Bizi, I see lots of healthy and yummy food there :).
I hope that you and your hubby enjoy Stonehenge. Avebury (about 30 km from Stonehenge) is also worth a look. It has three stone circles which you can walk around for free. The Avebury village is interesting as well. |
thanks kiwi, we will be taking a tour so not sure of the time that we will have. everything that we do on this trip will be by train or bus.....wonder if there is a bus from salsbury to avebury?
bizi |
I love that you describe Barbara as "pleasantly confused." It reminds me of my days as a CNA and nursing student. We described some of our favorite patients the exact same way. I love that you love your work.
I can't wait until the X-Files comes back this fall!!! My husband and I just saw the commercials for it when we were watching the Wayward Pines episodes we DVR'ed. I'm surprised they got David Duchovny to agree to do it. You're working so hard to be healthy! I wish I was as disciplined as you. Kay |
Sorry...
IMDB says XFiles revival isn't expected until Jan. 24, 2016. |

oh thank you so much for the link will need to see this also!
bizi I just book marked it. |
I made it 13 days AF. only thought about drinking a couple of times, tonight at whole foods when erika said hello, the bar tender there who noticed me shopping . Almost told her my challenge then kept it to myself. I went out with a girl friend whom we have been friends with ever since we moved to louisiana in 2001. wonderful friend.
WE spoke about me not drinking at he present. she told me that i mentioned to her on a couple of occasions that I was an alcoholic. I don't remember that. I told her that I am a binge drinker, that once I start I can seem to stop at one. but that when I decide to stop like this challenge it seems pretty easy, so how can I be an alcoholic? bizi dinner out with my friend we each had the seared tuna with white canolli beans and wilted spinach with a balsalmic reduction drizzle and shared an order of wonderful Mediterranean humus which was wonderful!!! |
It sounds like you had a great time with your friend. You may be eating healthy, but the meals you are eating make my mouth water.
Great job on 13 days AF! I know how hard that can be. Kay |
Thank you kay!
14 days sober and medication changes have sort of started me feeling better. I was unable to sleep until 330am then got up and took another klonipin anti anxiety med that I take to sleep. 1st one did not work so took the second one at 330am. then got to sleep and slept until 11am. hubby came to wake me up. I needed to sleep that much. He was hungry and wanted to go out to eat like we usually do. I had 3 eggs scrambled with spinach and a side of black bean salsa heated over my eggs and a side of brocolli. my usual sunday morning breakfast. Drinking was an activity that we did together. Drinking is something I have in common with my husband. WE would go out for drinks and have fun. Now I can't do that. i am finding that my desire has returned to go to the gym and start training again for my 10 k coming up in november 14th. I had a thigh injury after my may memorial day 5 k run. so that put me back and I was so depressed about that...that is when I started drinking again... I had not drank from jan to may then drank a week then had a dry june then july came and I started drinking until after my last vacation. My new day one is August 24th. I lose weight when I don't drink, I sleep better, I should not drink because of the medications that I take. Two of them have warning labels. Both my psych doctor and my GP don't want me to drink...they judge me when I fail which doesn't make me feel good, shameful. I wish that I could drink in moderation. I can for a few days then that turns into more and more...then I get carried away...and have black outs. heavy sigh. hubby is taking a nap. He did not sleep well. I have been snoring these days and keeping him up...he doesn't like wearing ear plugs but that muffles out the noise. We were going to go to a play but missed it started at 2 and we thought it started at 3 so we will see that next weekend. I am going to clean my bathroom floor because it needs it really badly. Hair spray and dirt don't mix well. Then I am going to go to the NAMI (national association of the mentally ill) support group meeting at 6 pm. It is a free support group that meets 2 times a month. I guess I need some outside support since I have been making these medication changes, following doctors orders to do such. And I am not seeing a therapist because i can't afford one. So between these forums and support group and a couple of friends to help keep an eye on me along with hubby. I think I will be fine. I think hubby and I are going to go to a park and go hiking even though it is hot an humid. Bizi |
Bizi,
Let us know how the NAMI even went. M |
The NAMI support group meeting was good.
We shared what was going on in the room each of us, there were 15 people there, I shared too long I feel and put the group behind. one guy there Was there court ordered...he verbalized he wanted to kill people, we were all shocked he was so open about it. He finally left when he did not find anyone who would support him or had anything in common with him. after he left we talked about him a bit. There was a lady(stephanie) sitting next to me who was recently diagnosed and scared. And also a nurse and my age. We exchanged phone numbers and are going to have lunch. Wow, I might actually have a new friend! So it was a great meeting. bizi |
that is great about the possibility of a new friend. i would have been so scared about that guy
bobby |
It sounds like a great meeting, aside from that man. I'm surprised that man shared... he may have benefited if placed in a different group.
It's hard to meet people you have things in common with, especially ones who can understand mh issues. I'm glad you found one :) |
I joined a new meet up group. and the first meeting is tomorrow. We are going to walk in a park. So I thought that maybe stephanie(my new friend) might want to do this with me. So I called her and she agreed.
WE are going to meet at a grocery store near by and go together. WE meet at the park at 6;30. ONe of the things she mentioned last night was how hard it was to meet new people so I thought this would be perfect. It will be a nice way for us to talk as well...get to know each other. Jeff and I went to a state park today chicot park about an hour away from home. We hiked 5 miles about 2hours and 20 minutes. Sweat and it felt good to move. I did not eat well today...popeyes 2 thighs with skin and muffin and red beans and rice and coleslaw for lunch. I ate a stuffed baked potato for dinner at jasons deli. It was huge!!!!!chicken and cheese and sour cream and peppers. delicious with a ginger bread muffin and ice cream for desert. Carb day today! oh well I love carbs!!!! I just don't eat them that often. thank goodness. bizi |
That all sounds wonderful, Bizi. Even the naughty things. I love Popeye's.
|
16th day AF, congratulations kay on your journey!
144.5 this am even after all of my carbs yesterday. I should cheat every now and then more often! :D bizi |
For dinner tonight I made an indian dish of sorts.
Used a spinach sauce and ground beef and then added baby kale and a can of garbonzo beans and threw it in a crock pot to keep warm. When we ate it , it was bland....so I need to come up with some spices to doctor it up next time. The meet up went well. There were 5 of us who met up at the park. 2 walked faster and got far ahead of the remaining 3 of us. We walked for about an hour I think I lost track of time and forgot to wear my fit bit:rolleyes: Stephanie is really sweet. After the walk she and I sat in the parking lot and talked. It was really nice. I hope we do it again soon. I called my pdocs office to request 40mg doses of geodon to be called in to my pharmacy. I have one dose left for tomorrow morning. so hoping she will be in the office to get that ordered. bizi |
Good morning all!
144 this am! The scale is cooperating! Got up before the alarm today...did not sleep well got up at 2;30 to take an extra klonipin. Going to the lab today to lave my thyroid checked tsh, last time it was elevated because I had been drinking so much so it has been 17 days since I had a drink so that should not interfere with the results. At least I hope not. I see my pdoc on tuesday. I hope they take my health savings account debit card at the lab core site....we shall see. After several calls into the pdocs office I managed to get my geodon from the pharmacy 40 mg twice a day. then this morning my lamictal is up 100mg. So that is 300mg total for the day. After a week of this she wants to start decreasing the klonipin and add trazadone, 50 mg. Am afraid to switch. I have lots of klonipin if I need it. She said the klonipin is adding to the depression. I stayed up late trying to figure out our check book, it is a mess. I can't seem to figure it out. very frustrating.:( Have a great day all! I have fire ant bites on my foot and toes...ouch! I think I got them when I was at the park on tueday evening. bizi |
144lb, 17 days AF, and up before your alarm?
Sounds like a good start to the day! I didn't know that alcohol intake effected tsh. Have a good day Bizi! |
yes kay, last december when I had my tsh ran it was 5.6 double what it should b.
So I researched high tsh and alcohol use it said that it was a reason for a high tsh ...I waited one month with out drinking and retested, back to normal. heavy drinking can also give you high marks on your HDL the good cholesterol. Mine was 130 last time so even though my total cholesterol was 243 I was not concerned. bizi |
143.5 this am.
I have 2 fire ant bites on my foot/toe. These are all swollen and look like blisters. I want to pop them but know that I should not. I have not been to the gym all week but have had some good walks early in the week. I am using these ant bites as an excuse to not go to the gym, plus I have been getting home later and that means later dinner then too late to go to the gym since hubby is getting up earlier, earlier to bed. Got up late today alarm went off at 8 turned it off and then slept till 9. I don't have an appointment until 1pm so I knew that and took advantage of it to get some more sleep. I must have needed it. I hope you all have a good weekend. I am getting my hair colored tomorrow. I have blackish hair right now and am going blond! I have tried to warn my friends and some clients. If I hate it I can always go darker again. bizi |
Bizi
Looking forward to a update on how you like the hair. Maybe a picture too. I am going to Monticello for the IN*SOURCE Fundraiser tomorrow. Its one of the saddest days of the year. We are remembering the 4 special needs kids killed in a bus accident 7 years ago. I always feel honored to go to the fundraiser. Because the parents of the children do this in honor of them. For the agency I work for. Because they want other families to get the help they need. I have become good friends with a couple of the families. One of which was a client before the accident. You do such good work donna!

All Kinds of Changes!
Quote:
Hi bizi! :D I hope the change in hair color will be fun for you! :D I used to do drastic changes, often, when my a close friend was a stylist. We used to have lots of fun experimenting! My husband often did not recognize me, yet that also had it's benefits. ;) I admire your progress with diet and your AF commitment. All kinds of changes going on in your life! Seems like you are doing lots of fun things in life! Have an extra-fun weekend! DejaVu |
thank you for your support dejavu!
I cheated tonight for dinner we ate pizza I had 4 pieces. (2 pieces are now left over). I Could not help myself. Had whole wheat crust, spicy tomato sauce, asiago cheese then spinach, sausage, carmelized onions, roasted garlic, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms and jalepanos and more mozarella cheese on top, cooked in a very hot oven then topped with a pesto drizzle and fresh basil. Delicious! For lunch I had salmon, collards and sweet potato casserole. yum! great food day! I popped my ant bites and put ointment on them then covered with bandaides, they feel much better! Going out to a bar for the first time not drinking. a surprise birthday gathering. Hubby insisted that I go. That is at 8pm close by. My friend susan and paul are going, there should be quite a few going to be there. tomorrow I take my car to firestone to see if my tire has a slow leak. lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks. Then lunch at cris's po boys for chicken and sausage gumbo, like usual. Then i go to the Aveda beauty school to get my hair colored. First it is called a color correction where they bleach my hair because it is basically black then color it a blond with caramel high lights. We will see how it goes. and how much they will be able to do tomorrow. change is scary but am ready for a change, am considering letting my gray hair come in, eventually just high lighting it. anyway no plans for the rest of the weekend. Have a great weekend and thanks for reading my thread! bizi |
Firestone found a leak in the out edges of my tire so they could not repair it so I bought 2 new tires. Had lunch by myself of chicken and sausage gumbo and coleslaw. then headed to the beauty shop.
Well after 6 hours of processing bleaching/ coloring I have brownish/ blondish/ reddish/golden hair. Next month I will have them high light it. I guess this is a nice transition color softer then straight to blond. I posted a picture on face book if anyone wants to go see that pm me and I will send you the link. met my friend susan for dinner after the salon visit and had pho chicken rice noodle soup. It was very good and fillingI had small bowl which was large. Got up really early this morning after a few hours of sleep from a nite sweat, yuck, decided to just get up and have a cup of coffee and cruise on line a bit. Pretty quiet for this time of the morning. made it 20 days AF 20% of my challenge. Going rather easily this time.I am not going to weigh myself for several days, last time I ate pho soup I put on 5 pounds over night so much salt and msg! bizi |
