Effect of marijuana

So I have been using Mj over the summer. I've been using pretty regularly howver it's not really helping. In fact, it makes my symotoms ( especially burning/ stinging and feelings of pressure) much more Intense. Why would mj magnify some symptoms?

I keep using mj even though it magnifies my symotoms because it's supposed to be anti inflammatory. So, I use it hoping its combating some inflammation.
Here's my hopeful theory. The Spots that are the worst on my body ( sooo many) is where the symptoms get magnified the most. So, I think my blood vessels are getting dialated, blood is being brought in and nerves are healing a bit and that's why symotoms are worse while on Mj.

What do u think? I've never heard of mj making things worse...ugh.

Are you using Indica, Sativa or a combination? There are so many strains within those types and each strain has different uses.

[QUOTE=canagirl;1170240]So I have been using Mj over the summer. I've been using pretty regularly howver it's not really helping. In fact, it makes my symotoms ( especially burning/ stinging and feelings of pressure) much more Intense. Why would mj magnify some symptoms?

When I smoked recreationally many years ago, it would always greatly intensify the pain in a place on my back where I had a muscle knot that was always mildly painful. I have no idea what we were smoking back then!

Lately I've used several high CBD strains. One of the ones I've used most, Critical Mass (indica), occasionally brings out the pain in that same area. Oddly, it takes away the nerve pain at the same time. The other one I've used most and never had that problem, is Harlequin, which is sativa-dominant.

So my advice if you've only used one strain is to experiment with others if possible. My doctor says the effects vary by person and to go trial-by-error. What you're going through sounds miserable. Good luck!

I've been growing and using for about a year now. I have found it to be of help with sleep and pain. I have not noticed it making pain more noticeable but it could be in some ways that I'm not aware of. I grew three strains but can't remember which ones off the top of my head but they all seem to do the job albeit with slightly different effects. I gave a small chunk of cannabutter I made to my neighbor (it's all legal in Oregon now) and she was floored by a tiny bit that was a fraction of what I need now. It can leave me a little loopy in the morning for about an hour or two.

I personally would not continue to use it if it was exacerbating symptoms.

I've canned meds for less than making symptoms worse, but if you wanted to continue to try, some suggestions:

1. Sativa or Indica dominant strains only- see if one or the other doesn't cause this spike

2. Have you tried edibles or is this only vaping or smoking?

Maybe it just isn't a solution?

In you shoes, if results were equal, everything were equal, I'd walk away. But, none of that is true.

Sorry it isn't helping canagirl.

I've always said that Im not sure if pot kills pain or takes my attention elsewhere. I really don't care which, because it works for me. However, do u think its causing u to focus on the pain instead of away from it?

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been using indica dominant ( 70/30 and 80/20). So I'm going to order a sativa next.

I haven't tried edibles, gonna try to make some cookies this weekend. I have been vaping.

KnowNothingJon 09-12-2015 02:17 AM

Be mindful that edibles take longer to take effect, often affect differently (so if (IF) you decide to experiment further CBD that route may make sense.

Or trying something else may make better sense.

I really wish it performed better for you. I hope you are not anticipating miracles, though you should certainly should be garnering something better than "oh lovely enhanced nerve pain"

Best of luck with whatever your choice.

Keep your stress as low as you can!

I will have to piggyback Surfer00 thoughts about where your mind goes. I smoked daily in college and eventually the laughter was replaced by a feeling of guilt over wasting time. I know that MJ will bring out phycosis if you let your thoughts dwell in the negative. The longer I went, the more I would get "bummed out" about wasting time. Now that I'm in my sixties I have lots of time to waste and those feelings do not seem to be reoccuring. I do not think that I am getting any pain relief. I do think that the new friends and the different conversations add another dimension to an otherwise boring and routine life. If there is no way for you to take your mind off your symptoms while you are"high" I can absolutely see where the whole thing would be a negative experience. Good Luck, Ken in texas "I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in and keeps my mind from wondering, where it will go, where it will go." The Beatles.
