New December thread!

Hi there! Thanks to those who read my thread...thank you thank you!

Today was a great day.
saw a client at 10;30 and went over the thai cuisine restaurant to meet my lunch bunch. Had 2 bowls of my favorite soup:
chicken, tomatoes, onions, lemon grass, coconut milk. It is delicious and I can't get enough of it when I go there (not very often that is). Then had a small bowl of red curry chicken with sweet potatoes. boy was that good!
Saw my 96 year old who just got put on a walker in her own home because she had an injury. She lives alone and has help from her family for groceries and such. She is a neat lady goes out on tuesdays for cocktails with friends...lol
Ran by my clients birthday party she turns 100 on friday.
She looked smashing in her navy floor length dress with lace sleeves and bejeweled! Stayed for a cup of coffee and left.

Went to see my 3rd client of the day. He was in bed so I trimmed his nails in bed. He is in his 90's. I don't see that many men. Kept asking me to give him a kiss! He got one on the cheek when I got there and one when I left.
I told him he was a flirt!

My friend stephanie came over at 4;30.
we went to the choral christmas concert...She drove us there early to find parking. Fortunately jeff was just leaving work so he let us into the faculty parking garage. That was great! He did not stay for the concert, he was beat!
The concert was good, really enjoyed the couple of songs from the blue grass band. The wind band sounded great and the singers always do well.
My girl friend from sandras Paula was there with her son but I missed seeing them, she texted me that she saw me. I thanked her for coming.
She said she enjoyed the concert.

I had steph take a new picture of me with my hair done, blond with soft curls. I liked it and then I posted it to facebook. Nice to read compliments!

The flowers are all confused here. several of them are blooming early. The weather has been so nice. cooler today over cast and damp rainey 57 for high and it will be that way for the next few days then it is supposed to warm up again into the 70's. Very strange!

The 8th season of x-files came in and we are going to watch it tonight.

I see a new mdoc tomorrow morning, have to get up early and be over there at 8;30. I need to be fasting for labs, glad I remembered that just now. My old one quit and did not tell me, I was to have seen her next week!

I typed up my medical history...I keep it on my desk top so that I can easily change it when something changes, meds etc. I will bring that along with my last labs etc.

Do you guys believe in mammo grams yearly? I had one last year and an ultrasound, which was awful! Cold liquid squirted on my breast....I said I would never have one again....
It has been 2 years since my last pap.

Last night I went thru my filing box and got it organized and threw out paper work that was old and outdated. We switched from horace mann insurance to USAA and saved money. I could not find the new packet for our car insurance, I finally found it under a pile of paperwork on my desk. Made a new file for that too.
Happy about being productive!!!

thank you again for reading.
May this be a fruitful december and lets ring in the new year as best as we can.

Bizi, your posts are always inspiring - it sounds to me that December is treating you well :).

As far as mammograms are concerned the information here might help you to make an informed choice; http://www.cancer.gov/types/breast/m...ams-fact-sheet .

Here HPV (the virus which causes most cases of cervical cancer) screening will to some extent replace PAP smears though a smear every two years or so is still recommended. The information here might help you; http://www.cancerscreening.gov.au/in...anges-cervical .

With care.

It has been 2 years since my last pap.

The liquid was basically K-Y jelly.
It is not so bad.

I started getting pap smears when I was in my late 30s when I was on the pill for a little while.
I started getting mammos around 40.

I kept up with the paps but have not been for a mammo because it is a HUGE FREAKING hassle and the people doing the office work/paper work
are slow and annoying and weird as all get out.
AND it takes a half a day to deal with those morons. It does not help that my anxiety levels are always high when I am waiting for nonsense.
Eighteen months ago I had a melt down at the gyn's office about doing the extensive forms.
I was close to panic and then sobbing uncontrollably.

The technicians are always wonderful.

I have to get the mammo soon because I missed about three or four years.

My sis and I keep up with those things even though we know of no one in our large extended paternal or maternal families who has had a medical issue related to that.
We do it because we want our husbands to have comfort in knowing that that we are taking care of ourselves.

I screwed up...I forgot that I was on my period when I made the appointment for 8;30 this morning....so canceled with their answering service last night. Called this morning at 8 to reschedule and apologize for canceling and got their answering service again. They don't answer their phones until 9.
Weird.

I think you probably know my answer to the yearly or 6 month mammo gram.
I'm a firm believer in them. I have had many of the ultrasounds with
them. Much rather have that than the biopsy that i've had to have
twice.

So yes, I believe they are very life saving at times.
But I also know that my mother-in-law who is 99. Had her first
and probably last at about 80 or so.

bizi 12-04-2015 09:48 AM

Thanks donna!
The ultra sound was so unpleasant but my clients wife had a mammogram and it came back fine then 2 weeks later had the ultrasound done because it was offered to her. and she had that done and that is when they found the duct cancer. She elected to have surgery chemo and radiation.
WOW!
bizi
I don't think an ultra sound is covered under the wellness part of my health insurance and there for would have to pay out of pocket for that test.
bizi
who is trying to watch our money/expenses better.

OhKay 12-04-2015 12:58 PM

It sounds like you're being extremely productive, but are still stopping to smell the flowers :)
I'm glad that your lunch bunch is still together :)
And I love hearing about your clients :)

Mari 12-05-2015 03:13 AM

Bizi,

After the mammo showed a possible cyst, the MD ordered
an ultra sound.
That was two years in a row. Then the cyst disappeared I believe.
Insurance covered the ultra sound.

Now we have available digital mammos

http://ww5.komen.org/BreastCancer/Ta...screening.html

I might go digital next time, even if it is not 100% covered by insurance.
Something makes me think that is easier and faster. --Dunno really.

Went to whole foods for beers with my lunch bunch, it was great!!!!
then went to a restaurant where we just had a couple of beers and went home.
I call it a DD because one of the beers was 13% and it was 14 ounces!
We had a good time , enjoyed jeffs student classical guitar recital. He did a good job.

Met his fiance and she is sweet.
Will try to have them over this spring.
She lives in mississippi, ocean springs. about 3/12 hours east of us.

I need to get going, am working today.

I left my car at whole foods so need jeff to take me to pick it up. I did not want to drink and drive.
luckily it is very close to our home 1 1/2 miles away.
have a good day!
I bought a new winter jacket...purple! I really like it, on sale at $35 marked down from $100.
Pennys has this sale going on all weekend.
bizi

OhKay 12-05-2015 10:06 AM

It sounds like you had a great night night! :)

I'm glad you got such a super buy on your jacket! Penney's sells some really nice stuff.

Dmom3005 12-07-2015 10:52 AM

Bizi

I would question why a ultrasound that is being used to look for something
after a mammogram isn't covered. But either way in my case it was necessary.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

bizi 12-07-2015 09:04 PM

had my yearly today and set up an appointment for a mamo asked what an ultra sound would cost and she said no more than $300.
Can't afford that this year.
bizi

bizi 12-07-2015 10:39 PM

We went to a christmas fund raiser last night, jeff played jazz in the big house 12,000 square feet!
Free food and wine to guests.
3 homes decorated for the holidays and a bus to trolley you back to and fro.
Well too much wine ruined my day today.
sigh
when will I finally say enough is enough?
bizi
Jeff helped me last night...he is a good man.

Mari 12-08-2015 06:14 AM

Bizi,

Have a good day today.

Hi bizi,

There is a point when you realise enough is enough. When you see that the positives of not drinking outweigh the negatives of drinking, when you see that the personality change you experience when you have been drinking is an unsustainable crutch.

I have been where you are, used to drink (A LOT), but all the time, to drown out the Anxiety and make socialising possible. I had a very high tolerance, never got drunk even after consuming amounts which would put most people under the table.

The story of my awakening is personal and very ugly, but in one moment I vowed never to touch another drop. That was over 25 years ago and I have never missed alcohol, no matter what path my life has taken, no matter how bad my Anxiety and Panic Attacks have been.

When the time is right for you to stop drinking, you will start an AF period and never go back.

Dave.

bizi 12-08-2015 09:36 AM

thanks dave for sharing.
Yes I drink for the socializing aspects to have fun. To do something because I am bored. I continue to say I need to get some hobbies to keep me busy.
Thanks dave for your sage advice.

70 degrees at 9pm we took a 2 mile walk thru the neighborhood. sleeveless.
supposed to be high of 81 tomorrow.
unbelievable!
weird nice weather we are having!
bizi
Had one glass of egg nog wine and was going to have a second then decided I would rather have an apple.
success.

OhKay 12-11-2015 10:17 AM

I'm jealous of your weather!!! But I can't complain too much. We're having a real heat wave here... it's been in the 50's.

Eggnog wine sounds very interesting. Great job being disciplined and skipping the second glass :)

bizi 12-12-2015 11:01 PM

Had another glass of eggnog wine with dinner. stopped at one even though I have more in the fridge.
cooked long green beans and chicken with lentils in a red sauce...
an indian simmering packet, new one, we both liked it.
I get so bored with our meals but am lazy.....
bizi
$2.50 for the chicken
$2.50 for the lentil sauce
$2.00 for the greenbeans
------
$7.00 for dinner, not bad!

Mari 12-12-2015 11:51 PM

Bizi,

Chicken and lentils - one of my favorites!

M

OhKay 12-13-2015 10:03 AM

Great job at stopping at one! :)
BTW what does eggnog wine taste like?!

Dmom3005 12-13-2015 03:15 PM

Sending you good thoughts.

Its still in the 50's here. Its to hit 60 this weekend. Wow, we might
break a couple records the heat.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

bizi 12-14-2015 12:28 AM

hi kay.
It tastes just like eggnog! no alcohol taste and dangerous!
Have a good week.

jeff is gone on a recruiting trip. I don't like being alone. need to get to bed.:(
bizi

Mari 12-14-2015 04:47 AM

Darn! Going to bed early is a good plan.
When does he get back home?

M

bizi 12-14-2015 10:00 AM

5ish on tuesday. OUt with friend last night...ate and drank too much...
oh well....talked too much too.

bizi

OhKay 12-14-2015 12:40 PM

I always talk too much... was terrible when I drank. I hope you had fun though :)

I hope you have a good Monday. I know you're looking forward to seeing Jeff tomorrow :)

bizi 12-14-2015 08:38 PM

Went out with mark last night and he showed me a picture of his summer camp on the river by morgan city. (about 2 hours away)
It is a 20 minutes boat ride there.
There is running water but smells like sulfur but am told it is safe to drink:eek:
I asked jeff if he wanted to go fishing and he said lets go! Mark is talking about taking us in the spring. Sounds like fun.
I ate tempeh tonight for the first time, soy beans marinated in sesame and garlic. sauteed then with onions, red and mushrooms and roasted garlic. it was very good, salty but tasty.
Need to get off of this computer and do some paper work!
need to send out bills and make a deposit. Of course I am behind in my charting too. But that can wait.
I am sleepy wonder if I slept well last night got to sleep around 1 and up at 7;30, not enough for me. Hoping to get to bed sooner tonight.
bizi

OhKay 12-15-2015 09:20 AM

The tempeh sounds really good. I have a taste for salty things.

I'm sorry you had to get caught up on all that unhappy business. I hope you got to bed early and are well rested this morning. :)

bizi 12-15-2015 09:54 AM

thanks kay I stayed up late getting christmas things gift bagged.
I have no idea what to shop for jeff. I am such a terrible shopper. His life is music and he gets what ever he wants....
sigh
bizi who is running late on very little sleep.

bizi 12-17-2015 01:10 AM

whew!
Went to dinner for a retirement party for 3 colleagues at the school of music where jeff teaches. Had lasagna...it was very good. Had 3 drinks and they went down easy.
Came home and I finished all of my billing...yeah!
Glad that is done.
I am behind in my charting but that can wait.
very busy rest of the week.
will get up early and take a shower....much needed.
watched x-files and am heading to bed.
bizi
good day.:)

OhKay 12-17-2015 10:20 AM

I'm glad you were able to get your billing taken care of. That will take some pressure off for the busy week ahead.

3 drinks is not bad. :)

I hope you enjoy your shower and have a good day :)

bizi 12-17-2015 09:12 PM

One more day of work and I am finished for 2 weeks!

Tonight for dinner:
Hubby and I cooked something different together.
It was called hello fresh.
They sent us 3 boxed meals with fresh ingredients. and all of the ingredients in little containers.
WE had steak tonight with a soy/ginger reduction glaze.
wasabi mashed potatoes
seseme spinach
There was a big white potato that had to be peeled and quartered and boiled so every thing needs to be cooked. But every thing is already measured out for you so it was easy.
TIME consuming.
It took both jeff and I cooking for about 45 minutes easy to get things all hot and ready at the same time.
When it was all said and done we enjoyed the meal. and it was something different. Different is good.
There are 2 more meals to fix. my girl friend and I are going to cook them together on saturday for dinner. One is a turkey tetrazinni and the other is sausage meal. enough for 4 people but will only be 3 of us.
We are having the mortons over for dinner tomorrow night. Jeff is going to fix a shrimp dish. They are coming over at 6-630 I should be done by 5;30-6pm.
Saturday morning 10am, I am going to have my hair high lighted with color The last time they colored it, it was darker. so now that it has been bleached and conditioned We can use color to "high light it":) and color actually conditions it. girlfriend comes at 4.

We are leaving sunday morning...I should pack this evening...It is so warm Not sure what to bring. Remember it was so cold last year. I froze!!!!!
Jeff was in china and it was warm there. lol
Instead of snow we could have rain. I think I will bring 2 winter coats a light weight one and a heavy parka. just throw it into the back seat.
We decided to NOT rent a car. It was going to cost $625 for the 2 weeks. can't afford that.
Brenda the pet sitter will watch the cats every other day which they will be fine. Will ask the neighbor to move the paper to the back porch door so it is not so obvious that we are not there.
Jeff went shopping. I got the perfect gift for him.
He happen to mention that he watched the last part of a movie he really liked "summer of 42". I could not remember the name of the movie once he was out of the room so I called his friend whom he stayed with in the hotel where they watched the movie this week while on a recruiting tour. He remembered !!!! So I went on amazon and found it and also the book .
I ordered both of them and had them shipped to his moms place. So they will be there for christmas!
I called her and left her a message that there will be three things coming her way...that are for jeff.
I need to buy a bottle of wine for my dad, and my shopping will be done.
Think I will have a nice glass of eggnog wine!
bizi
I am not happy. I am up 10 pounds since November 1st.
sigh

Dmom3005 12-18-2015 10:54 AM

Bizi

Not sure which day you will get to Indiana. But starting Monday the weather forecast:grouphug::hug: for my area which is Lafayette is 45 or close on Sunday, then its going into the 50's for the rest of week till Thursday so far. It sounds like its
going to be in 50's on Christmas also. Many may complain no snow, but not
me I love the 50's even on Christmas. Its much easier for me to travel to
Kokomo also.

Safe travels.
Donna

Dmom3005 12-18-2015 10:55 AM

Oops sorry the hugs went in wrong place.

:grouphug::hug:

OhKay 12-18-2015 02:49 PM

It sounds like you will be busy, busy, busy!!!

Hello Fresh sounds like it's interesting, and the food sounds great. But it seems like it requires a lot of elbow grease.

It's so difficult to pack with the weather as unpredictable as it's been everywhere. It's looking like it will be about 50 degrees here on Christmas Day... that's just crazy!

I'm glad you were able to find the perfect gift for Jeff. I know you were having a hard time finding something for the musician who has everything he wants. :)

bizi 12-19-2015 10:27 AM

My girl friend nicole is coming over around 4 to help me prepare the last 2 meals from hello fresh. These will be easier to prepare. jeff insists that we prepare them separately, i wanted to combine them.
Getting my hair high lighted this morning, should not take too long.
Then I have a few things to do.
I went to whole foods after work and had a couple of beers then out with friends to the tap room for a couple more. Fun time.
Got home late, jeff was upset because I had told him that I was only going to be gone an hour. and I did not get home till almost midnight and I did not have my phone. Mark brought me back home.
have a great day!
bizi

OhKay 12-19-2015 10:33 AM

I'm glad you had a good time! :)

I had a lot of problems with my husband when I would go out, tell him I'd come home at a specified time, and come home late. But it sounds like that was a rare occasion for you, and Jeff seems like he is an understanding husband.

I'm happy you're going to get pampered today and are having your hair done :)

bizi 12-19-2015 10:28 PM

Yes that was the first time it happened.
He is a wonderful man.
Am very lucky to have him in my life.

Hair came out great!
Finally I am happy with it.:)

The hello fresh meal came out great, we had fun cooking it, the 30 minute meal took us an hour to fix. It was very good soup.
Changed the answering message on my phone, am doing a load of laundry, scrubs so I don't have to bother with them when we get back.

need to start packing!
bizi
finished packing still need to pick up geodon, they would not let me fill it earlier than sunday....gr!!!! oh I could have filled it at $450 out of pocket...even so it costs me $135 a month but is worth every penny!
done packing need to dig out the parka/boots if some weird snow storm ever develops. looks clear and rainy and no snow in site.
