Laminectomy/Leg pain & Leg Wasting
6 weeks post Laminectomy and follow up nerve block and pretty much constant shin and thigh pain. I look at my thigh in the mirror and it is wasting down smaller and smaller. Won't be long at this rate and it will be bone. My left leg is 2 inches smaller than my right. I'm walking fine at normal pace but my gate is awkward if i try to walk quickly. Will be interesting to see if my leg keeps deteriorating with 3 weeks until next MRI and appointment with surgeon.

Phil, I hope that your surgeon comes up with some good ideas.
In the meantime, have a good Christmas - cold beer is always good in moderation ;) and being with family is always good :). |

Dear Phil,
I hope you're not anywhere near Lorne on your holiday down in Victoria. Such shocking news this morning with the fires there. Please drop in if you can and let us know that you're all safe and well. |
Thanks Lara for checking. No thank goodness we are well away from Lorne. Only woke up this morning to the terrible news.

Hi Phil,
Time has flown. I'm wondering how your back is healing and if any of the leg pain has decreased? Also wondering if you're starting back to work this week or soon? Anyway, I'm really just hoping that you're doing so much better than you were. take care |
Hi Lara yes time has flown. I have constant pain in my left buttock and also constant pain in my shin. The surgeon said he is extremely disappointed that i have the buttock pain because he said he cleaned out so much rubbish around the nerve. He also said the shin pain is from a different disc so another MRI and two more nerve blocks to no avail. I'm seeing him Friday to see what's next. I'm back at work which is a worry because i was 2 weeks of qualifying for my income Protection. I'm battling here because i can't sit very long. I don't think the 225mg Lyrica is doing much either. I'm $7000 out of pocket for the last surgery so if he says i need further surgery i will have to try and find a surgeon that has a closer medicare gap.
So i still have pain from the first area and don't know what can be done and also the new disc identified. Sorry for the long rant. I hippie all is good in your life Lara. Phil Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk |
How disappointing for you on so many levels. Ugh.
Please let us know how you get on with your appointment on Friday. I'm sorry to hear this is all ongoing. Terrible. __________ [ Phil, all is well here and thanks very much for asking. :) Hot in the morning. Hot in the midday sun and hot all night. LOL :thud: Otherwise, just perfect. :D ] |
Thanks Lara will do. Just a little frustrated but I'll be fine😊
