Wish me luck...

I have to go in and get an EMG done on my left arm today...and I am anticipating a lot of pain since I have RSD in that arm. The dr knows it's going to be bad but he thinks my ulnar nerve may have been damaged when I fell off that ladder back in October. It's going to be a rough day today...

I hope it goes easier than you are expecting or being told to expect.
I don't have RSD but neuropathy and I did not have pain with EMG.
I realize RSD causes you to be more sensitive ...it does not take long if that helps. Thinking of you and wishing you an pain free test and no pain later!
Take care, Diandra

Catra,

I hope everything goes smoothly and comfortably and you get the answers you need. Remember to breathe and think calming thoughts during. Or think on your baby girls' laughter. If you have any lidocaine cream maybe that would be helpful afterwards. Let us know what they find.

Sending hugs and healing love,

UGH...AGONY...but all the major nerves look ok so thats good. Abnormalities in the ultrasound so he ordered an mri of my shoulder...basically just looking for confirmation of the rotator cuff tear and to see how bad it is so we can see how long for recovery and what treatment options there are. But...the pain right now...ugh...

mama mac 01-14-2016 06:12 PM

Glad it's over for you and showed no major damage to the nerves. Hope you are feeling better soon!

I agree. Serious Nerve Damage would really have been a serious hardship. I too am glad that you don't have to contend with that. I hope resting will help bring the pain down to baseline for you after all you've gone through.

My thoughts are with you!!!

Since one of my original nerve injuries that led to my crps started with my ulnar nerve in my left arm.....I know how badly that can hurt! Especially since I also had an EMG done about a month after I also know how painful that can be in top of the injured nerve and crps!! Make sure you keep in close contact with your PM doc and that they cover any extra pain or flares with the proper meds! I hope you can get through it with as little pain as possible although I know it's not likely!! Know we are here for you!!!#

hope you're feeling better today catra. i am wishing a painfree as possible day today. take care of yourself and get lots of rest.

catra121 01-16-2016 07:02 PM

Today I am now going on my third day of horrible flare up pain in my neck and left arm where the EMG was performed plus my shoulder is hurting like all get out after the ultrasound. I'm glad he saw something abnormal (after going through an RSD diagnosis it's nice to have concrete, tangible evidence that you're not completely insane)...but all that poking around has elevated the pain. He gave me Tylenol #4...which helps with the pain a little...but relief doesn't last long. And I am constantly over doing it with taking care of the baby...but how can I not when she is just so darn cute and even though it makes the pain worse I just refuse to not hold my little girl and play with her...trying to take it easy on that front but I just won't give it up entirely.

Littlepaw 01-16-2016 08:58 PM

Catra,

I'm sorry you're still hurting. It's nice they gave you something for that. Tangible evidence sure is good to have! At least now you can get the right treatment and some validation.

I can't think of a better reason to push it than playing with your baby girl. I would do the same. :)

Sending hugs and hoping you feel better soon,
