Feb thread 2016
new month new thread!
drinking hard root beer. pretty good, though it is giving me some chest pain. Tequila sometimes does that. bizi |
Welcome to Febraury.
M |
I see my tdoc tomorrow...maybe I can start a new challenge????
my weight has gone back up, not happy at all. I know I will give up alcohol for lent. Fat tuesday is next week, Mardi gras and it is fitting to "give up" things for lent. 40 days sounds like a challenge. bizi I can actually look forward to that! And that way I have a week to ease into it!:) |

My mom used to make pancakes for Fat Tuesday:) M |
I don't think I've tried a hard root beer before… aside from tequila what is in it?
I'm sorry that you are uncomfortable about your weight right now. I'm in the same boat. I need to move more. It sounds like you've come up with a good plan that you're comfortable with. I like the part about easing yourself into it. I'm glad that you're going to be able to have some fun before you start your challenge :):):) |
hi kay, the hard root beer is really flavored beer. It is pretty good not so sweet like the mikes hard lemonaide black cherry that I was drinking.
Limited it to 2 early in the evening so I slept great. thanks for your support! bizi |
opps, I keep posting on the january thread!
hard getting up today, did not sleep well...having an unusual discomfort under my right shoulder blade. Of course I think it is lung cancer.... I use heavy chemicals to sanitize my equipment...so inhaling it repeatedly over the past 16 years is not good for my lungs. bizi |
Oh Bizi! I'm sorry that you are having to deal with those fears :hug::hug:
I know how strong all those disinfectants are, but I'm sure everything is okay. Didn't the massage therapist say that you had a frozen shoulder? |
yes kay you are right he said that...I did not believe him about the frozen shoulder.
but he did identify that area and deeply massaged it so much so that it hurt...he said he was trying to break it up. It was a knot. I am miserable tonight. We came home from a king cake party where I had half a bottle of wine and When I got home I ate too much.... half a bag of chips which I never do. corn/salsa and a large apple and drank too much water...I am so full. I took a couple of gas-x capsules hoping that they relieve my discomfort. I told jeff that I was going to stay up until I felt better. I feel like I have a 10 pound ball of lead in my gut. It was painful to take my night meds I am so full. bizi |
bizi
I hope that things are going better for you. :) M |
I was able to sleep at 2 am and then finally got up at 10. My tummy still feels full but not overly.
getting ready to go to the mardi gras parade route we will try to make the 1pm parade. Happy Mardi Gras!!!!! bizi just looked at the weather info. 51 degrees with 20-30 mph winds!!!! burr!!!! at least it is not raining like it was for the past 2 years! Hubby just surprised me with breakfast of scrambled eggs with spinage. Delicious! What a surprise! Just want I needed. He is awesome! bizi |
I'm glad your stomach feels a little better. It was so nice of your husband to make you breakfast! :)
Chilly weather for a parade, but I'm sure you'll have fun! Happy Mardi Gras!!! |
We had a great Mardi Gras thanks The we had a great Mardi Gras thanks
|
Bizi,
I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your Mardi Gras.:):):) I was the organ player at our tiny church starting in 8th or 9th grade. Today, Ash Wednesday, we used to go to Church. --- Mom used to make cheese pizza on fast days during lent . . . . .. making the dough the the day before, putting it in the fridge, and baking the pizza the next day. Usually it was just cheese pizza. Often we had anchovy pizza. My sister or I cooked if Mom was working that year. M |
Ash wednesday....beginning of lent for the mostly catholics that live in my community.
I am not religious at all but felt like this would be an acceptable length of time to do a streak of AF time. My lunch bunch friends are catholic so they would understand my not drinking or declining a whole foods evening at the bar. I need this time. It is a round 40 something days until easter. going to try not to count as I hate seeing those numbers.... Cheese pizza sounds good mari, anchovvies don't though! bizi |
Bizi,
I am glad you are have lunch friends that can be helpful. Lent is around 40-46 days because Sunday is a day of rest - - - -- no sacrifices or restrictions on Sundays. Mari |
sundays are free days? I had heard that...hmmm
something to think about. thanks mari. bizi edited to add, I found this on the internet: Quote:
|
I grew up Catholic and I remember going to church for Ash Wednesday, but I don't remember us ever observing Lent. We weren't very observant.
|
well my abstinence did not last but 1 day. I went to whole foods and had some beer and dinner, jeff joined me. Had fun.
bizi |
Bizi,
Is Whole Foods nearby and handy for you? I have two Whole Foods about 25 mins away in different directions. But they are in neighborhoods far from my usual places and one has a horrendous parking situation and the other is next to a huge highway with lots of traffic. I go about three times a year maybe. It is nice that you have a place to hangout and have the food you like with your buddies. M |
You just weren't ready to press the pause button yet Bizi.
I'm glad Jeff joined you and the two of you had a good time. :) |
yes whole foods is close to out house, 1 mile to be exact! takes us 5 minutes or longer with traffic.so it is very convenient.
thanks kay... bizi going there tonight for friends and trivia! |
I've done trivia night a few times. It's so much fun as long as the questions aren't ridiculously difficult.
I just watched Monday's X-Files episode. It was a good monster episode. Only one episode left, but they said it was the "season finale," which makes me think that there's another season in the works (you must be right, the ratings must be good). I think the series is going to turn into a hunt for their son instead of a hunt for Moulder's sister in the original series. |
hi kay,
I think there are 2 episodes left of the x-files. At least I think I am right. Jeff thinks so also. It is official...I am sick. Last sunday we worked in the yard raking pine needles up picking up sticks and cutting cannas for a couple of hours the night I went to bed with a scratchy throat. So I am thinking that I stirred up stuff in the yard and started taking zyrtek for allergies....so the scratchy throat continued but no escalation of the symptoms( like usual into full blown sinus infection). Yesterday I forgot to take my morning zyrtek and paid for it...my nose kept running at my 2nd to last client visit. So much so I now thought that I have a cold...so I called my last clients house to cancel, my hospice client because I did not want to expose him to my cold. They fortunately canceled my visit (he was sleeping peacefully)when I called so I did not have tell them I was sick. I got home around 5pm and jeff and I ate pork chops with indian spices. and roasted steamed corn. We then went to whole foods and played trivia. Since yesterday I have developed a deep cough and I took extra meds last night. I woke up several times and coughed deeply, hope I am not getting bronchitis. I slept until 9;30 which was good. Need to get dressed and get something to eat before my 1pm hair appointment. Will see if she can go a shade darker this time it is too brassy. bizi |
Well it was art walk, usually a time for eating and drinking free bad wine, jeff is still hung over from last night. So he was not drinking so I asked him to drive because I wanted to drink.
We got a late start and went to mcdoalds for a bad meal. I had egg burritos and hash brown and oatmeal...comfort food. By the time we got downtown and parked art walk was half way over. We listened to a guest violinist perform. Then the usual art galleries were open. I only had 1/2 a glass of red wine. I would have had more had I the opportunity. So it was a very mod evening. We stopped by this new restaurant called sizzling monkey. You can cook your own entree on a firey stone that they bring to your table. sounds interesting. WE made reservations for 6pm. valentines day sunday. something new to try. We were going to go to bone fish grill. but impulsively why not try there? they have only been open 2 weeks so we shall see. We are rewatching the old x-files on season 9 with 13 episodes left. It has been so entertaining to watch them again. And then to see the new season 10 currently running on monday nights. 2 episodes remain. Don't forget that downton abbey is on at 8pm sunday night. bizi |
Happy valentines day my friends!
bizi |
I NEED TO GET INTO THE SHOWER!!!!!!!!
sigh bizi |
shower done (I am all clean!!!!!!)
now to blow dry my hair, jeff is due home at 5;30 so we can go out to eat. bizi |
Thanks for the shower reminder! That is on my list for today and I was putting it off.
How is your virus? Enjoy the Valentine's diner. M |
The anti histamines have been working well the past 24 hours now that I have doubled up on them...i know that I probably should not do that:rolleyes:
I took another 12 hour allegra for tonight....don't want to run out of meds in my system in the middle of the night. thanks for asking. I will continue anti histamines for a few days. then ease up on them to see if my sinuses will cooperate. Dinner was great! Had char broiled oysters rockafeller a spinach sauce that was so delicious. a couple of bloody marys with bacon! corn and crab bisque soup which was more like a chowder so thick! and wonderful. Then pecan crusted flounder with a crab cream sauce that was heavenly. Had a side of grilled brussel sprouts which were quite good. Jeff had the same except he did not have the soup and had cheesy mashed potatoes too. We loved our meal. :) We had a very attentive server. This new restaurant had only a few inside tables seated so there was not a problem being served and finish before downton abbey. In fact we even made it home much earlier so jeff could watch most of last weeks episode that he missed because of the super bowl. I have to say that was the most money we have paid in a long time!! And it was worth it! bizi |
I'm so happy you had a nice Valentine's Day! You're dinner sounds wonderful! :)
You're right as always, I misunderstood, two episodes left for the X-Files. I'm looking forward to seeing how they will wrap things up. I hope that you feel better  |
I am feeling better over all thanks kay.
I woke up once last night with a coughing fit, not as deep of a cough. Got up and went to the other bathroom to see if I could cough up anything, sorry if TOO MUCH INFO....clear sputum. So that is good. I think staying on top with the anti hisatimes has really helped prevent it from getting worse like usual. Have a great day! bizi |
Just popped in at home to pick up a rain coat as I had forgotten mine this morning and just now the skies opened up.
It is pouring! So I am glad that I will have my rain coat for this afternoon. I should do alittle paper work as my 2nd client canceled as she is in the hospital for shingles, diabetes etc. I worry about her, her daughter said it was on her face near her eye...they caught it in time thank goodness. bizi who is going to whole foods for lunch. |
I'm glad that you are feeling better Bizi! I'm sure that the antihistamines helped in reducing the amount of mucus production, and it's good that your cough has been productive and you're clearing things out.
I'm still dealing with my cough and congestion. I cut back on the smoking, but I won't take anything OTC. All those things scare me because of my BP and all the meds I'm on. I'm glad that your client's shingles were caught early. I hope that they aren't too painful for her :( I hope you have a good lunch! Stay dry! |
thanks kay!
on my second cup of coffee and started the billing process for the month, it starts with stamping the envelopes with my return address then attaching stamps etc. I have at least 20 to send out. It takes me a while. Not hard I just need to sit down and do them. I think I had a bipolar incident last night. I watched an infomercial about a product called vitapulse. It has NAC, PQQ and Coq10. (we should take 200mg of coq10 at night) It is supposed to help prevent heart disease. I watched it for over 90 minutes, just kept watching it and I knew that it was just supposed to sell me on their product but felt really compelled to watch the whole thing, very interesting. IT talked about glutathione. The company name is Princeton nutrients. I will do some research before ordering. It is expensive $50 a month. jeff went to bed and sighed when he saw me watching this man drawing out pictures and writing words quickly, you know what I mean. It would not let you pause. I don't have heart disease in my family history. bizi |
I'm glad you got that billing out of the way. It sounds like a pain in the butt.
Sometimes I get drawn into commercials and random things like that. Are you having any other bp symptoms right now? Do you think researching Naltrexone is related? You posted about it twice (I responded to it on the separate thread). I really liked the last episode of the X-Files. I'm really looking forward to the "season finale." Apparently my husband forgot that there were only 6 episodes. He's very disappointed. |
Thanks kay, thought I would post it in a separate thread once I thought about it. so deleted the post in this thread. thanks
I did not finish the billing unfortunately, since jeff is away tonight, he plays half a concert tonight in monroe about 3 hours from here and will spend the night at a friends house, who is playing the other half of the concert. I will finish it tonight! I am wondering how naltrexone would effect my bipolor? bizi |
That's a good question. Your pdoc will probably have some degree of knowledge about it. I know that she has had concerns about your drinking in the past… she may support your idea of trying it.
