new stress

i just found out that even though i am past 70 i still can be called for jury duty. i hope my psychiatrist will write a note if i get a summons. then Joyce called and offered me two cats. one is ten and the other is eight. I told him i didn't want them that old because they get sick and i would get attached and they would die. I said i wanted a younger cat. that gave me a headache.
Now i don't know if i want another cat. i am feeling too much pain over abby''s loss.I heard from my friend who got the results of the biopsy of his throat. it was negative but the doctor wasn't convinced so she is going to give him a deeper one next week.she said it should be fine and he is fit for his age.
I haven't heard from my friend i have been fighting with.
bobby
still haven't heard from lenox hill hospital. my friend kay who knows practically everything told me i should have gone to pysberterian (s) it is ranked one in practically everything. lenox hill ranked 27 in cardiology

bizi 03-04-2016 10:36 PM

golly bobby
we had a cat that lived to be over 20 years old.
I understand though wanting a younger cat.....
our cats are 8 and they seem very young still.

I am still upset about my sweet baby girl harriet.....:(

mymorgy 03-05-2016 05:57 AM

you were lucky to have a cat to live to 20. my friend's lived to 22 and another friend's lived to 26. One of mine lived to `17 1/2. Snowy died at 10.. Yuki died at 12 . socrates died at fourteen. tui died at fifteen. abby died at fifteen.
The cats are too old and too set in their ways. usually they start getting sick at age and vet bills are so expensive here. i don't know about there. you and jeff are working and i retired and you complain about money.

Mari 03-05-2016 06:05 AM

Bobby,

I hope that you get a beautiful sweet young healthy kittie cat.

M

mymorgy 03-05-2016 07:20 AM

thanks Mari. I went out of control in the last post. abby's illness with food cost around 1400 dollars. the food was about two dollars a day. she was worth every penny of it.
bobby

OhKay 03-05-2016 08:01 AM

I was called for jury duty, and I asked my PCP to respond to them saying I couldn't go to the particular courthouse I was called to because it wasn't handicapped accessible. Instead, he wrote a letter telling them about my psych conditions and all the medications I take. As a result, they found me unfit to serve and I will never be called again.

I think that getting a another cat would help fill the void that Abby's death has left, but there's no rush to fill that void right now if you're still unsure or you're not ready yet. Don't try to force yourself into a decision you're not ready to make yet.

I remember talking about with you about this and I think I said it's a nice idea to give an older cat a good home, but I think you're 100% right that a cat 8-10 years old is too old for you. It would be unbearable to get attached and have something happen so soon after Abby died and you're right about the vet bills.
I think Pudge is too old to deal with a kitten, though. So you would want a cat that is at least over 1yr old, but a good companion for her would probably be a couple years older than that.

I had no idea you were fighting with Stella until I read it on BF's thread. I thought you were just avoiding her a little because she can be abrasive. I'm sorry you're dealing with this on top of everything else. Do you feel like you can just drop her a little note to test the waters? I know that she's your best friend… it would be a shame to lose that relationship.

Your cardiologist ordered the tests, and he should have the results by now. I think you should call his office and ask about them. If they won't give you your results over the phone, schedule a follow-up appointment. I hate that you've had to worry about this for so long.

I hope that your friend will be okay. I'm glad he has a good doctor who is going to be thorough and make sure that she doesn't miss anything. I hope her instincts are wrong and the next biopsy comes back negative, too.

I am still sort of fighting with stella. i am sleep deprived and been averaging about 4 hours a night for a very long time. I get irritable. when somebody spouts nonsense to me i get angry.
Joyce gave me a pure abyssinian kitten three years ago but abby didn't quite have her balance because of an inner ear infection remnants and the kitten kept on jumping on abby and left pudge alone.. I had to give up the kitten. she was so beautiful.
I just found out that my friend had a prolapsed bladder and has colon cancer in her family. she goes for a lot of colonoscopies and she has also had breast cancer. what a trooper until this coward.
bobby- right if i get a kitty cat it won't be a kitten

OhKay 03-06-2016 07:50 AM

How long has Stella been involved with the Byron Katie crap? I don't know why she can't just pledge not to bring it up anymore…

I'm so sorry your friend has another health problem to deal with. It's amazing how much adversity some people have to face, and how well they deal with it… I'll say some good words for her.
I'm sure privately your friend has plenty of bad days, and struggles privately at times with the challenges she faces. You never know how you would react if you were in her situation Bobby. You have fight in you, too.

I really wish you were sleeping better :hug::hug:
I know you've tried a bunch of sleep meds… is there anything you haven't tried yet that your pdoc could write a script for?

mymorgy 03-06-2016 08:48 AM

i don't know how long stella has been into this b.k. stuff but it really got worse. it has overtaken her. right now she just lost her job and has to sell her other coop.
she says all will be fine. it all comes from her and not the world.
I can't believe flora. she is so very brave. she has a sense of humor about all that has happened to her.

mrsD 03-06-2016 09:44 AM

Many states are putting in the 70 yr old + expemptions .

The 70 yr old exemption however has to be requested by the person called. Being 70 yrs old allows you to claim yourself as unfit and all you do is ask to be exempted on the questionaire.
People who are below 70 need a doctor's letter therefore to actually be excused.

Check with your local court employees on what is being done in your state.

I just went thru this process myself, and even though I am just a few months shy of 70, I was told to provide a doctor's letter to be excused, which I did. Besides I had been called twice before and sat one one felony trial. That is enough for me. And my doctor agreed.

mymorgy 03-06-2016 09:51 AM

thank you. on two forms they did have the seventy exemption but then when i called up the other day they said there was no exemption. I became so upset.
The whole thing is so traumatic to me.I think it is my paranoia that i expect my psychiatrist might not write me a note. I don't tell him everything. I don't want to go to a therapist. they have never helped me. I don't want him to change the status quo. I hardly mention my sleep problem. I did it with my other psychiatrist when we tried all sorts of drugs that didn't work.
bobby

bizi 03-06-2016 12:48 PM

sleep issues are so hard on you...sorry that you struggle with that as well.
bizi

OhKay 03-07-2016 08:06 AM

I can understand not wanting to go to therapy. I'm not a fan either.

You could try explaining to him that you're unable to attend because of your sleep issues interfere with your concentration, etc… so you may also get help for that at the same time. He may have a new med to offer you to help with your insomnia. Four hours isn't nearly enough sleep, Bobby

mymorgy 03-07-2016 11:25 AM

I am afraid of new drugs. I think i have to do something drastic which i am not ready to do. I think i am so addicted to coffee that that is why i wake up in the middle of the night and want another caffeine fix. I wonder if that is true. also drinking so much coffee might be part of the culprit of my constipation. I have to start drinking a lot more water. It is begining to work. I will have to tell the doctor that jury duty just stresses me out too much and that i was on disability before social security because i couldn't handle the stress of work. I was also in a trial and it would bring back more the explosion that caused the post traumatic stress besides the hospital experience the burn pains and the sh@#ty lawyers and the corporations i sued.
stella and i got together yesterday and it went well. she told me i had nothing to worry about. I didn't correct this time and say i can't sleep etc. I let it pass so we didn't have another argument. when the relationship gets stronger again, I will remind her.
I think i will skip the senior center today. I was checking pet adoption places .
I don't know what to do. I saw a really cute one the other day but now i can't find it
bobby

mymorgy 03-07-2016 01:40 PM

i just ordered three cans of decaf and three cans of regular coffee and will see how that goes.
bobby

mymorgy 03-07-2016 05:41 PM

i was almost just scammed again. i was looking for abyssians and found some adorable ones and they were free and i thought it was odd that they had none for sale. then the shipping was ship..but then i found out they would ship it to my house i couldn't believe it. I looked up the organization on the internet and sure enought...a scam

coffee

Bobby,

Sometimes when people stop drinking coffee without tapering off, they get headaches.

Mix your regular coffee with the decaf while you gradually reduce your daily amount.

For example, try cutting out one cup of caffeinated coffee a day or drink a half-caffeinated and half-decaffeinated coffee mix.

mymorgy 03-07-2016 07:45 PM

i was going to try the half and half.

thanks so much. i keep on imagining i am seeing abby's shadow moving in the apartment. I really think i am losing it. I am on my third coffee since three. Now if i am right i now know how destructive it is. I got really shaken by almost falling for the scam yesterday. can you believe that I wrote the "organization" and asked them if the woman i was writing to was legitimate? lol...i didn't get an answer. then i searched the net for the name of the organization and there it was. I didn't want to believe it. I already told pudge she was getting a sister. Iam in such a cranky mood. I am not going to the senior center. I hope i can read. I won't go for a walk if cecilia asks me.I am just so irritable.

you are making huge progress bizi-painful progress but huge progress

OhKay 03-08-2016 09:27 AM

On some of those sites like, you can usually narrow your search to pets that re local to you. I think it's silly to ship a poor kitty or doggie… it sounds traumatic to me. Are you only looking for pure breeds? I'm glad that you're looking.

You'll adjust to the taste of decaf in time. I'm glad that you're weaning yourself off. Mari's right… we both drink a lot, stopping cold turkey would cause major withdrawals.

You're not losing it, Bobby. You're just suffering from lack of sleep :hug::hug:

mymorgy 03-08-2016 09:36 AM

thanks...at least one of us believes i am not losing it. I think i am looking for a kitty cat that looks like an abyssian with the same personality. I have been blessed enough or spoiled rotten enough to have had two.
I am looking in the new york area and hoping that if i find one, cecilia would do me a huge favor and drive me there.

Sorry about the irritability. I can relate.

Abyssian's are beautiful. What kind of personalities do they have?

Can I ask what that kind of kitty looks like.

Good luck, in my area the local shelters have deals sometimes on
kitties. So good luck.

Abbys are most doglike. they are filled with energy and are extremely playful. they have ants in their pants. they are affectionate but some don't like to be held but they love to be petted. they are very intelligent. there are loads of pictures of them on the net. they are usually thin with huge ears and big eyes and narrow faces...they are adorable.
