pudge

i took her to the vet and she has an infection. she might have more since they took a blood panel. she has a fever. the vet was really really nice. he is a keeper..
she was given a big shot of antibiotics. her lungs weren't good. I feel awful. it cost 501 dollars plus cab. i thought his prices were fair.

oh bobby, I am glad that you took her there....and that you were on top of things.
You are a good mommy.:)
bizi
sorry that pudge is sick.:(

Mari 04-14-2016 08:25 AM

That is good that the vet is helping her. :):):)
Hope she starts feeling better.

Guessing that might be why she wasn't eating.

And hopefully this will help and she will start.
Oh and she wouldn't have wanted to play for sure either.

the blood test came out good so he thinks it is only respiratory but he might have to examine it further. he wants me to take her temperature and put rubbing alcohol on her feet to lower her temperature and maybe bring her in in three days,

Poor kitty.

How do you put rubbing alcohol on a cat's feet?

M

mrsD 04-14-2016 04:29 PM

There are chemicals in rubbing alcohol to make people vomit if they drank it. It is called a denaturant.

The isopropyl does not have it, but if licked off can't be good for the kitty.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denatured_alcohol

Please read this:
http://www.catfevertreatment.com/

As in humans fever may come from STRESS and a new cat is certainly stress.

I have never heard of alcohol on the feet. I'd search further
on the net or call another vet to verify that advice before thinking about taking it.

mymorgy 04-14-2016 04:38 PM

i never heard of it either.
bobby i will skip it

mrsD 04-14-2016 04:54 PM

I found this article on boxes and cats the other day so I put it up here on our Pets forum.

You might find it interesting and helpful. If you don't have some boxes for your cats you might try them. They don't have to be big..ours like small ones... esp the amazon ones.

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread234742.html

The boxes help destress cats somehow. ;)

mymorgy 04-15-2016 06:58 AM

so fantastic...clever mind! thanks for sharing

I'm so glad you were so vigilant, recognized the changes in Pudge, and got her to the vet. Do you have to give her antibiotics?

When I first read your post I was shocked you thought $500+ was a reasonable vet fee… until I remembered you live in NYC.

I'm so glad mrsD is here to help you. Thank you mrsD
My cats LOVE boxes. Whenever I order something I leave them out for a few days. My husband cuts little windows in them (lol) so when one kitty is in the box the other kitties get something to look at and they can play, too. I have to tear off any tape or Rocky will chew it and eat it though.

I hope Pudge feels better soon, and I hope you feel better now that you know she is being taken care of :hug::hug:

I hope this means that you are reconsidering your idea of rehoming Tiramisu now.

mymorgy 04-15-2016 11:05 AM

i got confused with posts. a lot of vets here charge more. i don't have much money so this was a big chunk. i am glad about tiramisu. i panic so easily.
i am such a mess. pudge's temperature now is a little below normal which i think is okay.
bobby

OhKay 04-16-2016 07:50 AM

We all get messy sometimes :hug::hug:
Do you have an appointment scheduled with your pdoc?

A reasonable fee for a service because you live in an expensive city doesn't mean it doesn't hit you hard

Cats are just like humans, so a temp a little above and below should be fine. I'm glad about Tiramisu, too. That must be a big relief :)

Hang in there Bobby :hug::hug::hug:

mymorgy 04-16-2016 08:07 AM

i see my primary doctor on friday. that is a big relief. right now pudge is curled up on the printer. still haven't seen her eat. I spell as if i am spinning.
love

mymorgy 04-17-2016 08:26 AM

i didn't go to the beach yesterday. went for a walk with cecilia and met stella.
bobby

mymorgy 04-19-2016 02:18 PM

i don't know if pudge is warm again. cecilia is going to come over tonite and take her temperature. I have to hold her. I think i will give her the other dose of metcam even though i am afraid.
yesterday she was full of life. today she is sleeping all day.
actually tiramisu is sleeping on the bed all day
bobby

bizi 04-19-2016 04:58 PM

our cats sleep a lot.
((((HUGS))))
bizi

mymorgy 04-19-2016 06:15 PM

her temperature was 99.9 - i was relieved big time
bobby

Dmom3005 04-19-2016 08:43 PM

:hug:Our kitties sleep a lot too. They either sleep during the day or night.

So its not unusual.

Donna :grouphug:

mymorgy 04-20-2016 06:50 AM

i guess it was unusual that the day before pudge was very active then. right now since tiramisu is only one she is very active. I can't believe how long she is. I am used to little cats. they called her medium and she is a little more than 10 pounds but boy does she look big to me. she is so trusting or else dumb that i have come close to stepping on her a lot. i hope it is trusting. I forgot i had abby who was an abyssisian who was very active throught her long life....

bizi 04-20-2016 07:50 AM

some times hazel will come great us at the door when we return home other times she is just sleeping on the guest bed along with hattie. I have heard that cats are nocturnal, but am not sure that they get adjusted to our schedules, especially when jeff gives sthem cat treats first thing in the morning. Hattie is all about the treats and sometimes she cries for them outside our door at 5am...you want to shoot her!
lol
no they are great and sleep a lot. they are 8and 9 years old.

mymorgy 04-20-2016 07:54 AM

that is so funny
bobby

OhKay 04-20-2016 09:07 AM

My cats sleep a lot, but wake up to periodically to eat, go to the bathroom and change sleeping spots. Sometimes they are just looking for attention.

When I wake up, the cats are all up looking for attention. Buddy's on the same schedule as me. As soon as I get into bed he hops up and sleeps between my ankles and he's there when I wake up. Whenever I take a nap, all 3 cats get into bed with me. My cats are kinda nocturnal. I can hear them getting into spats, knocking things over, and trying to get into the cabinets at night. Sometimes Rocky drags one of his toys around and makes loud noises that kind of sound like singing.

mymorgy 04-20-2016 09:09 AM

that too is so funny. so much personality and thensome!
bobby

Dmom3005 04-20-2016 01:24 PM

Angel the boy kitty that thinks he is my husband Dale's. Comes to the
bedroom to sleep with us. But he thinks he should be either between us,
swatting my husband in the face, or up on top of the bed going around and around.

So then he wants to be a stinker and get into my fan. That isn't allowed.

He will then settle down and lay down at the bottom. But sometimes when
he awakens during the night, he does it again.

Christina our girl kitty will follow us all around the house. But seldom comes
to bed with us.

mymorgy 04-20-2016 01:54 PM

they sound so cute
