ugh, not sure how to handle

Okay I just need to vent and see ideas. But really realize that all
really can't do more than listen. Because its a transportation problem.

Derrick needs a ride home from work at 9pm 3 nights a week. We had
used the small access bus, but they had a habit of not showing up. And
that created more anxiety and just the dreaded phone call.

But last year in January we or his provider service arranged an ride. It
was the person that did most of the hours for his roommate. But he
isn't available this year. We had hoped maybe, I would even be willing
to pay him gas because the agency doesn't pay mileage.

We are hoping that even though they aren't good at answering that the
agency has some answers. But the meeting yesterday wasn't good.
His case manager tried telling it was first she heard of it. I emailed
2 weeks ago. So I re-emailed today with a read receipt. I even
emailed all the people from original email. We are also losing his job
coach, because she is moving. Really hate that.

Thanks for listening.
Donna

Apparently the prices change depending on the traffic times.

During busy times the prices are higher.

---BUt I do not exactly know because I have never used one.

Thanks Jo*Mar.

His provider knows something about Uber and is going to look into it.

We also have an chance the best buddy advisor knows someone that
would be willing to do it too. So we will see when the students return.

I hope that you can find a good solution to your problem Donna. I'm sorry that you have more worries to deal with. You already have so much on your plate :hug::hug:

I'm sorry I don't have anything helpful to add

Dmom3005 07-13-2016 10:44 AM

:grouphug:Just sounding it out with you guys help me.

I learned yesterday that Derrick now qualifies for SSDI and because it
wont be the amount he can make on SSI, that it will be two checks
or deposits. I have a phone conference for it later this month to understand
and know more.

Hoping this will help give a little more cash.

PS. He is water skiing with the special needs group today. Its their 10th
year. His 9th, to ski and volunteer both.

Mari 07-14-2016 12:49 AM

good news about the Ssdi.
I hope that he loves the skiing -- it can be great fun

OhKay 07-14-2016 08:06 AM

I'm glad he qualifies for benefits! That's good news, and I hope it all works out.

Water skiing!!! That sounds like fun! :)

Dmom3005 07-20-2016 09:10 AM

He had lots of fun as usual with the skiing day. He also loves spending extra
time the next day in the game tent. The kids returning all look for him.

He went back to school this week. Just trying to get his reading level up this
quarter. So we will see how it works. He has about a month till work starts.
He may be changing his hours so the bus works after all.

Yesterday my ceiling decided to fall on and around me. So I've been taking
it easy the last 24 hours. I had to tell a parent I was trying to talk to at the
time. What had happened and that I needed to call her back later.
I think that is a first. But she of course understood.

I still have sore shoulders and my head hurts some.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

Mari 07-20-2016 12:36 PM

Ceiling fell?! That is so weird and awful.

Donna,

I am happy for Derrick.

I hope that your neck and head are o.k.:hug::hug:

I hope you are feeling better, Donna. I'm glad you weren't hurt worse! That must have been scary :hug::hug:

I hope that it's not too expensive to fix

Dmom3005 07-21-2016 12:13 PM

Well no idea how expensive. My husband will buy the supplies and do the
work.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

bizi 07-21-2016 06:33 PM

why did the ceiling fall?
bizi

Dmom3005 07-22-2016 09:09 AM

Its a very old house. And I thought the ceiling was put in place 15 or 16
years ago when my husband re-did most of the house. But he said it
was the same when he bought it. So I am not sure.

It luckily didn't take down the plaster, just the outer part of the ceiling,
not even sure of the name of the blocks of ?. I am sorry I can't remember
the name.

Its interesting looking at what is down and still up. Because between the
blocks and the plaster is what looks like once was wall paper. Very odd
place for it.

Its making it very hard to know what to do with the mess.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

OhKay 07-22-2016 09:19 AM

I have replaced sections of ceiling, and walls, and that was fairly cheap and easy. I was able to do it myself before I was handicapped. But I don't know the extent of the damage to your ceiling. I didn't have to use blocks, all that was needed was drywall in both cases.

I hope the repairs go off without a hitch.

bizi 07-22-2016 09:41 AM

wow kay, I am impressed that you used to hang dry wall!
bizi

Dmom3005 07-22-2016 09:59 AM

Other than the mess it is creating getting the pieces down. It should
be fine. I'm not sure of the cost, because supplies have sure gone up.

But my husband will do it himself.

I didn't hang drywall as a job or anything.

First, when I had custody of my little brother, he put his head through the wall when he was messing around (he was uninjured) and the hole was too big to patch. And later, I had to repair damage to the downstairs bathroom in our old condo from a leak from behind the wall in the shower upstairs.

Went to a case conference yesterday, not knowing if what the grandparents
wanted would be done. But luckily its being done. It entitles an stay put to keep the student in residential till the issues are resolved.

Today I had a doctor's appointment, all went well. I'm upping my
Effexor Xr to 150mg. And did blood test again.

We talked about my pain in shoulders and neck. Because of the ceiling last
week.
She even offered to do a ct scan. I'll let her know if I think its necessary.

donna :hug::grouphug:

OhKay 07-28-2016 09:55 AM

I'm glad that things went well at the conference and you were satisfied with the outcome.

It sounds like you have a good doc. Did she offer plain films before the CT? Would those be cheaper for you… maybe to try those first?

I'm sorry you're still in pain because of the ceiling falling down :hug::hug:

Dmom3005 07-28-2016 12:26 PM

I don't know if she would do x-rays first. I think so.

But our insurance would pay for most of the ct scan.

derrick had another seizure this morning at school. He and Dobey
the dog have come out here to stay for a while. I'm just not comfortable
with him at his apartment after having a seizure right now. It seems it
was a bigger one than he has had in a while.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

bizi 07-28-2016 06:34 PM

Got my blood results today. They are all good.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

bizi 07-28-2016 11:24 PM

congratulations donna!

Mari 07-29-2016 12:01 AM

Good job on the CAT scan -- good to hear that you will be getting better.

How is Derrick doing with his dog, Dobey?
What kind of dog is Dobey? How old?

M

OhKay 07-29-2016 07:36 AM

If insurance isn't an issue, skip the plain films and go straight to the CT scan if that's what she suggested. It will save time and show soft tissue injuries that X-Rays won't.

I don't blame you for wanting Derrick close since he had another seizure, especially since it was a bigger one than he's had in a while. I hope that it's an isolated incident :hug::hug:

I'm glad that your all blood tests came back good!

I will say some good words for Derrick

Dmom3005 07-29-2016 09:58 AM

Dobey is about 9 month old Chihuahua/dashound mix. He is a really
good lap dog. Also loves to play with toys and retrieve them.

Our dog nipper seems to like him. The cats aren't so sure.

Not sure but wondering if he had a seizure during his sleep yesterday
morning. He said, he thought he was just very sleepy and went back
to sleep for a extra hour. His alarm re-woke him an hour later.
He was then running way late. But that is life.

Last night at bedtime he was light headed and dizzy, guessing because he
hadn't eaten because he wasn't hungry since lunch. But had him get
something and then he went to bed.

This morning he is a lot more like himself. Dobey decided he wanted out
at 6:30 this morning and came jumped on my bed and played till I got
up and took him out.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

OhKay 07-30-2016 08:29 AM

Dobey seems like a good little dog. I love little lap animals like that.

I hope that Derrick isn't having anymore seizures, and it's just other little things going on
