I am just not me.................

:( Well, my weekend was a bust. I never went out as we had planned at night , nor to the pool (I even had on my bathing suit, but then I just couldn't go). I felt bad for Dirk, but he understands, but geeze I should be better by now, its getting old and frustrating to say the least. There are side effect to these steriods too, let me tell ya.....YUCK

I wanted to, but I just didn't have the strength to get ready, and I am in so much fear of these migraine attacks because they come on fast and furious. Plus the not sleeping well, I think due to the steriods, makes the next day tiresome. Today 2 pills and tomorrow 1 pill, then I start the Topamax. Oh, I hope I don't have any problems with the Topamax, I won't be able to handle that at all, a this point.

This seems like it has been going on forever and I will never feel better. I just want to sleep. Maybe rest is all I can do for now.

Maybe today will be better, I keep hoping that at least one day will go by without a migraine attack.

Enough of me whining,,,,,pass the cheese please...............

Hugs, Nikko:hug:

I have been getting migrains again lately. So I have been reading about them.

I really haven't found out anymore than the docs have been telling you.

They do leave you feeling so drained and sick and dizzy for what feels like forever. I hate them.

Thankfully, mine come along with my period so I know when to expect them.

I have such empathy for you. There has to be a way to get through this and I hope the docs can come up with something soon.

Poor baby girl.

Nikko,

I feel for you my friend.

AWWW, ((((((Nikko)))))),

I don't even leave my bed when I get migraines -- and I only get them about 4 times a year.

I won't even talk about the 'ROID WITCH I turn into when I get my epidural steroid injections for my spine.

Try to make your time at home **SPECIAL** until you're well enough to go out. Croissants and fancy coffee to go along with the cheese you ordered sounds good

BIG HUGS.

Thanks all. Yesterday afternoon, I felt like I could at least try and go out for awhile so Dirk and I went to Lowe's he had to get some tools for work, then stopped and had a Pina Colada, and I could feel me getting all sweaty, we were sitting outside but it was covered and all, then I ordered a club soda with lemon, and BOOM, he had to take me home. That was it. Should not of had a pina colada I guess, or the heat too.
I was in bed for the rest of the afternoon and night. It was a NIGHTMARE:eek:

Thank God, we didn't go to the Italian restaurant for dinner, it's one I had always wanted to go to. I would of hated to be in the middle of dinner and have to leave.

He made steaks on the grill for him and my mom, and salad and bought some potato salad so they had some time to talk.

I couldn't even talk, I couldn't get out of bed, and do you know when pain is so bad you can't stay still, like you just are all over the place, it took me forever to calm down. I thought I was having a stroke or something.

I took my last steriod pill this morning, now tonight I start the 25 mg of Topamax for a week, then it goes up to 50 for a week, until I get to 150, I think. Have to look at the paperwork again.

So, the steriods did not work. Going to call my PCP today and tell her, because she wanted to know.

See what she says.

From what I understand a migraine is from one nerve that spreads to your eye, ear and jaw area. It's all on my left side of my face.

I still am going to make an appt. to see a Dentist, can't hurt. My ears are clear, I can breathe fine, not stuffed up or anything, so its not my sinuses, plus the cat scan of my sinuses came back fine, my PCP and the ER have said, so no sense in seeing a ENT Dr.

But, how can I have a migraine every single day, and usually around the same time of the day?????????? Well, afternoon around 2-3pm, yet they have occured at other times too.

I'm at a loss here. I have soooooooooooooo much to do around the house, I am just sitting having coffee and once my head feels a bit clearer maybe I can do somethings. I wake up with a bit of pain, it's weird, like a heavy feeling and my eye and ear hurt just a tiny bit. Maybe from my meds.

Thanks for all your support.

I'm sure I will have more to post.

p.s. I read that a side effect of Topamax is eye pain:eek: has anyone had that problem if you take it?

Hugs, Nikko - Have a great week!:grouphug:

No eye pain here. And Nikko, I was visiting my mom this weekend.
She has suffered migraines for years. Her's were very bad this weekend,
it seems that its a bad time period right now. I'm wondering if its a full
moon time period, it makes them worse.

:( Here I am again beating a dead horse. I just need to vent about this ordeal.

Yesterday I had a so-so day. I self medicated with a muscle relaxant and my pain meds to try and keep the migraines away, and rested.

Spoke to the Dr. she said to start the Topamax, so I did last night. She said if will take some time though, I start off at only 25 mg for a week, then it goes up. She also said that she hasn't had anyone complain of eye pain from the med.

I don't have much of an appetite, due to the headaches, yet I do eat something.

I think my BP is also effecting my migraines, like an interference, if that makes any sense at all. I am just not myself.

I had a small attack last night, took my BP meds, the Topamax and a pain killer, and used the deep breathing, slow exhaling to calm the anxiety, it helps, because I get so wired with these headaches. Trying to fall a sleep is so hard with these migraines.:(

Made a dentist appointment for Thursday morning. Going to make an Eye Dr. appointment today too. Covering all the bases, plus I need to do this, I am way past due on both.

Woke up this morning with a headache, got right up, took my pain med, had an iced coffee, used the ice pack and it subsided quickly.

So onward I go.............If none of this works, then I am going to make an appointment with a neurologist. Then I wonder if there is a problem with the 2 level fusion in my neck causing this, I doubt, I would have neck pain. At this point who knows.

Have a good day.

Hugs to all, Nikko:grouphug:

Hi, Nikko,
I hope that the Topamax works for you.

I think your plan about seeing the dentist, eye doc, neuro, . . . sounds like a good idea.

'Sending good thoughts.

Nikko

The other thing you might ask your Doctor is if she/he would prescribe
sending you to a Physical therapist. They would try a few things too.

I would definately ask for this from the doctor. It sure wouldn't hurt,
and it is something that a good therapist does. There are many things
they can use to help relieve the pain.

So give that a try too.

What would a PT do for me though?

Had a good day yesterday, got some things done around the house, made dinner, etc.:)

All was fine, then I took my meds, got into bed and had small attacks, I would just be falling off to sleep and BAM 3x this happened they subsided quickly though, so I got the ice pack, took a pain pill, finally fell off to sleep around midnight.:(

Today I have errands to run, so I am going early, the heat is intense, there are heat advisory's always coming over the TV. We are about to break a record for consecutive days in a row of triple digit degree's.

I woke up today fine though.;)

Tomorrow the Dentist and Friday the Eye Dr. all morning appointments.

I am just drained and fed up to say the least. Today is only day 3 of the Topamax 25 mg.

It will be interesting to see what the dentist says though, plus I have TMJ.

Have a good day, Nikko:grouphug:

Mari 07-18-2007 12:15 PM

Hi,
'Just a thought.
TMJ can cause headaches although I don't know if they would cause something as intense as what you describe. Still, ask the dentist anyway.

Nikko

For one thing they could do some massage therapy on the neck and
head areas. Also the tens machine and the other machine is used
sometimes for these things. Also there was something else that
was used to get my neck to finally release that is used on migraines,
I'm going to have to think on this a while to give you that name.

But they all helped me. The tens machine still helps the tension in
my neck and I have read that there are certain positions that it can
be set to use it for migraines.

Dear Nikko,
Getting the doc to send you to physical therapy is a great idea.

I have a tens and it doesn't help me with migraines unfortunately. Mine are either sinus, or used to be because of a wisdom tooth I had up in my sinus which has since erupted and is moving into my top jaw. I would get wicked migraines from it when it was up in my sinus. Mine are usually related to sinuses and I snort cold water to cool them off, then let my head drop forward so the water drains and boy is it ever hot when it drips out!

Then I will breathe in my nose in front of one of the fans here, that helps alot. I hope the topamax helps you Nikko, hang in there it will get better, I hope you feel better soon. :)
