Hot weather

It's almost 2:39 AM, and the temperature is 80 degrees. It was 81 degrees a few minutes ago. It was in the upper 90's yesterday, and it's suppose to be in the upper 90's today.

OK. I know. It's to be expected. When is the black cloud going to come out of the blue, and rain like the world is going to come to an end? Our forecast today says no clouds today, or tonight. At this time of year all of that can change quickly. BF:hug::hug::hug:

I hope it cools down

Dear BF,

Good luck in the heat.

When I did not have a/c I used to keep my hair wet as a way to feel cool.

I used to put ice on my wrists, the inside of my elbows, and along my neck.

It's been i the mid 90s here for quite a stretch. I can't be out for long because the heat aggravates my MS symptoms. I have auto start on my car and leave it on when I go into stores. I and am pretty quickly in and out of places.

I have cooling bracelets for my wrists, but I don't use them anymore. They add a little weight to my arms, which is enough of a deterrent not to use them. Many people with MS wear cooling vests, etc because they can't avoid the heat and it poses such problems for them.

We keep getting "severe thunderstorm warnings," but we are fortunate that we haven't been hit. A town a couple of minutes away was hit very hard and several homes had severe damage a few nights ago.

Dmom3005 07-25-2016 10:19 AM

We had a heat advisory for about 5 days. It finally rained and stormed overnight last night. Not sure how hot it is going to be today.

I can usually get out to run errands in the morning before 11. Its cooler
then. But it was really muggy and hot yesterday. So not fun going out

Wiix 07-25-2016 10:27 AM

I take frequent breaks in my ACed bedroom thoughout the day. Looks like it's going to be another hot one today. Oh God, I hope it ends soon. :o

Skeezyks 07-25-2016 11:10 AM

It's in the upper 80's F. in Minnesota currently. But just 2 or 3 days ago the "feels like" temperature was about 107 degrees! Still that's nothing like the record high temperatures that have been recorded in the Middle East recently!

Brokenfriend 07-25-2016 02:19 PM

It's 98 degrees out there right now. During the Spring we had a tornado about a mile from here that did a lot of damage. I'm concerned about any weather patterns that might cause more problems. BF:hug::hug::hug:

bizi 07-25-2016 08:47 PM

crazy weather we are having.
can't believe the weather forecasts. 70% today and it sprinkled.
lol
we could use the rain.

Brokenfriend 07-25-2016 09:20 PM

It's 87 degrees here at 10:20 PM. No rain yet. When it comes it will probably be booming with thunder for a while. I hope that we don't have hail, and/or high winds. You never know what it's going to do in hot weather like this.

I'm always concerned about this kind of weather because I have radio hobbies, and antennas on my roof. I'm worried about them being struck by lightning, or being blown down. My antennas are grounded though, so that in theory the lightning would go into the ground because of the ground rods that I have in the ground. BF:hug::grouphug::hug:

OhKay 07-26-2016 06:47 AM

It was smart of you to make sure those antennas are grounded BF.

The forecast for today is a high of 94. When I woke up about 6am it was already 80 degrees and the humidity was 70%. The hourly forecast for that time was 72 degrees. I have a feeling it will be hotter than 94.

It's the humidity that really gets me even if the temperature isn't that high. I think a lot of other people have the same problem.

I have a couple of errands to run. I'll have get my act together so I can get them done before it gets too hot out.

Dmom3005 07-26-2016 08:27 AM

We are supposed to be 80's or high 80's not sure which. But I'm pretty
sure its going to be hotter. Its already high humidity. We need more
rain.

Brokenfriend 07-26-2016 02:37 PM

It's 99 degrees here at 3:35 PM. I think that I heard a rumble of thunder. They are now saying that we may have thunderstorms. BF:hug::hug::hug:

I think fagged out means tired/exhausted.

OhKay 07-27-2016 06:28 AM

It was 92 degrees and 85% humidity by the time I left the house at 10am yesterday.

The heat and humidity slow me down and weaken me so much physically I feel like I'm having a relapse when I'm outside… I can't stand it. Having to wear long sleeves doesn't help matters. It takes a good half hour in the AC before I feel "normal" again.

I have to go out again today because I have an appointment, and they're forecasting another 94 degree day.
It's food shopping day, too. There's no reason to put it off because of the weather, we're going to continue to have temps in the 90s.

bizi 07-27-2016 07:37 AM

will you try to go before your nap?

Kay,

Does it help to go out earlier -- closer to 9:00?

Dmom3005 07-27-2016 02:31 PM

Good luck Kay.

I have trouble going out in the heat also.

Wiix 07-27-2016 08:18 PM

Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler, 72. For a few days a least. Then the heat is back. :( I hope the humidity is down. :(

Brokenfriend 07-28-2016 12:18 AM

It's down to 74 here. We had a strange rumbling thunderstorm for quite a while Wednesday afternoon. It rumbled, and rumbled. My cat was scared, and took shelter at the end of the kitchen near the door to the laundry room.

Everything has calmed down. I prayed for God to protect the property from lightning.

The weather is suppose to be not as hot for the rest of the week. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Mari 07-28-2016 03:54 AM

Stay safe everyone.

I hope the weather is reasonable.

M

OhKay 07-28-2016 09:36 AM

I've reached the point where I don't have to sleep off the seroquel in the am anymore, but the afternoon naps are a mainstay.

I wake up very early, and like to go out early, but usually don't get going most days until about 10am because I'm busy pumping coffee into myself.

I didn't go food shopping yesterday because I wasn't feeling well, but I hit the pet store because my kitties can't go without.

I'm behind the 8 ball because I woke up at about 7:30 vs. 5-6am and it's going to be close to 100 degrees today. I have to pick a few things up at the supermarket today, and am not happy about it. I don't know what I'm going to put on my list, but it won't be much, because it will be a very quick trip.

I probably won't be ready until noon, when it will already be well into the 90s, but if I feel really rotten by then, I may say **** it, and tell my husband we're ordering out tonight.

I hope that the severe weather stays away from you and you and your property are safe.

Two of my cats hide under the bed during storms, but one of them is odd and likes to look out the slider… very odd.

Brokenfriend 07-31-2016 10:12 PM

We had another powerful thunderstorm today. We have had them all week. There were a couple of lightening strikes near the house today.

Some of the other thunderstorms were strange. I'd hear a rumble, then another rumble, and it went on, and on. This happened at least in a two day period last week. BF:hug::hug::hug:

bizi 07-31-2016 10:26 PM

I hope the thunder storms stop or at least give you a break.

Fortunately, the big thunderstorms seem to keep going around us.

We will be having some cooler weather for a couple of days (high 70s- low 80s). It will be a big relief :)

Brokenfriend 08-02-2016 12:10 PM

We didn't have any thunderstorms last night. I saw a star in the distance. It was probably a planet.

The hot muggy weather is still here. It's mid summer so I don't expect the temperature to change in the near future.

When we pass mid August, some nights should be cooler, and more so at the end of August.

There is a storm off of the West Coast of Africa. I hope that it doesn't become a tropical storm. I hope that the storms coming in from the West, Southwest blows them out to sea, or keeps them out in the ocean. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Brokenfriend 08-02-2016 09:34 PM

That Storm off of the West Coast of Africa looks like it's breaking up right now.

The tropical storm South of Cuba is not expected to move this way. It looks like it's headed West according to weather predictions. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Not sure where you are talking about.

But Indiana got hit really hard yesterday with tornadoes. They are saying
they believe 10 tornadoes or maybe some tunnel clouds too. Struck
the city of Kokomo.

The first one was a EF-3 and did lots of damage. They were on an State of Emergency and have gas leaks in parts of town. My sister who's house
was damaged 3 years ago. Has minimal damage to yard and fence. But
her neighborhood really got hit again. They were in the area that had gas
leaks. So they spent the night with my mom. Who's house wasn't damaged.

I've heard both my other sister's and families are okay. No idea on damage to their house or not.

West Lafayette had at least one, and Derrick was so pleased that he got paid for doing nothing but hiding somewhere for 3 hours.
