Off to the Dentist today, eeekkkkkkk
Well here goes nothing. I do believe that my left back and lower two teeth have something to do with my migraines. I do have TMJ that hasn't bothered me in a long time, I do grind at night too. Maybe I am wrong, but I have to cover all areas here.
I haven't been to the dentist in awhile, I guess this is what I get. Waited till my head/eye/jaw pain subsided then went to sleep last night, woke up this morning with a killer headache same pain. Took meds, feel shakey now. Used the ice pack, having iced coffee, staying up seems to help more. Stomach is jumpy, nerves I know. At least the pain is now early in the am and later in the evening. Plus I went out and did my errands yesterday in the heat and was pain free. Took meds, feel shakey. I feel like crap. But I will get myself there for 7:45am, it is only 6:15am here now. I dread the dentist, always have. Have a feeling I may need a few extractions. I'll check in with you all later. Have a good day.:) Hugs, Nikko:grouphug: |
((((((Nikko)))))),
I'll think healing thoughts for you today, sugar: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...rofhealing.jpg I don't like going to the dentist either. The novacaine makes me 'wobbly'. I had to get a route canal about a year ago. I was absolutely petrified. I had a third year student at the dental school do it. G-d, she was good and talented and caring. Didn't bother me at all  She planned to work down in Florida when she finished. They're very lucky down in Florida :D I hope you find someone like that to be your new dentist. Hugs. Barb  |
Good luck with the appt today Nikko, I am in the boat where I lost four molars due to bad fillings which cracked teeth to the gumline. It's not fun having extractions, but I bet they won't do one today, they will probably just take stock of the situation and talk to you about the pain you're having. Best of luck with it.
Hope you feel better soon. :) |
Hmmm, its a lot later I was hoping a update was on here.
SO I'm wondering if you had work done. Hoping your okay Nikko. Sending you some Hugs. Donna |
Nikko I hope you are starting to feel better and soon be pain free.
Hugs Di |
HOpe you are doing ok today and that your pain has subsided.
Maybe the dentist was able to help you. bizi |
I don't know one person who likes going...
to the Dentist  . I have to give my daughter-in-law credit for working as a dental assistant, with a specialty of children  . That's got to be awfully difficult work....
I hope you made out okay with your appointment! We're all anxious to find out ;) . I hope some of your problems were resolved! Take care! |
Hi,
Well, On Thursday I had two teeth extracted one on back top left and one on bottom left back. I got novicane and the gas. One tooth had a bad cavity on the side of it, the other was in bad shape from gum disease. Not the ones I thought, but the x-ray's showed different, then the Dentist tapped my teeth with some instrument to see if I agreed with him and the x-rays (I did not know which he and the x-rays showed) well we were right on). I am once again on anti-biotics, penicillin for 6 or so days. My pain is just about gone, it's just mostly JAW pain now and sore, which is from getting the bottom tooth out, looks like a big hole like the grand canyon, thank God you can't see it when I open my mouth or smile. All in all, I have gum disease, because I have receding gums. So, I have a long way to go with getting some fillings fixed, then onto a periodentist for the gum disease which scares me even more. So far the migraines are Gone, :) :) :) :) :) I can't complain, only blame myself for not going to the dentist. My CAREINGTON Ins. which is under USA Dental is GREAT. It would of been $320.00 but it was only $53.40 that was a huge PLUS for me. I stayed in bed all day yesterday, been living on yogart, soup, lemonade, water. Because I woke up Friday at 4am with a fever, but it went away, when I got back up later on. Last night I woke up all sweaty, not sure what that is all about, I think too many meds that I have been taking prior to seeing the dentist to self medicate. Chewing won't be happening due to my TMJ for a bit of time. Today it's sore and itchy, no stitches though. I go back on Aug 9th for a complete set of x-rays and complete exam. Had to first get the pain issue out of the way. Thanks for hanging in there with me, hope this was most of the migraine problem. It had to be. I really liked the dentist he was nice and down to earth and said it like it was. He asked if I needed pain killers but I said no, I had wrote down what I take anyway. Actually, Bayer 325 have been helping a lot. But I do need to take the penicillin. I had to cancel my eye Dr appt for Friday, I was just not up to it after having the two teeth extracted on Thursday, had to stay in bed. Hugs, Nikko:grouphug: |
Dear Nikko,
I'm happy to hear that the headpain is gone. The dentist sounds like an ordeal. I'm glad that you got through it. Don't be afraid of treatments for the gum disease; the dentist will send you to someone good. Keep taking care. Keep stress low for awhile. Mari |
Nikko,
I hope you feel better soon from the teeth extractions. The dentist was never any fun for me either. I went to an oral surgeon when I had to have the rest of my teeth pulled and he was wonderful. My ex's insurance I had back then paid for most of it. befuddled2 |
Nikko
I posted on the weekend thread. By the way did you end up cancelling the eye appointment, or going. Donna |
I think Nikko said she cancelled that appt because she'd ended up with two teeth extracted and wasn't up to going. I hope you feel better Nikko, it's hard having teeth removed, but you heal up really fast so hang in there. :)

Thanks Pam
I missed that part in my reading. I just skimmed this one. Donna |
two teeth extracted....incredible...have you been drinking salt water? I think that helps you heal faster. You must be living on soup.
I went to an oral surgeon and what should have been easy was a nightmare. It should be a painless affair. My surgeon who I didn't sue first let some exposed nerve. The pain kept on getting worse and he thought I was being a hypocondriac...My dentist saw it and removed the nerve and all was well. Then there was also a bone implant which was easy but he was talking to a student when he did it and left a piece of plastic in my gum. Strange thing lol the gum wouldn't heal. I had to go through the surgery again. I wish I had somebody tell me before hand there should be no pain and fast healing. Bobby |
Thanks all..............Yesterday I went to the pool at 1pm and was home at 2:30 pm, the jaw pain ended up going up towards my eye and side of my nose.
I took a pain pill, used the ice pack and slept and was okay. My back last in line lower tooth that is capped feels loose since he took out the one next to it, oh great! My TMJ is bothering me, I guess because it was tough getting the bottom tooth out, he was holding my jaw on one side and I was holding the other side. I am still eating either mushy stuff or liquids, trying not to use my jaw so much. I didn't end up going to dinner at Dirk's brother and sister in law's, I called and explained, they understood, they are both nurses. It's so frustrating. I woke up this morning with the jaw/eye pain, took a pain pill, having ice coffee and used the ice pack and it subsided quickly. Have a good day. Hugs, Nikko |
Nikko
Just keep taking it easy and try to do what you can. It will start to get better as the days go on. The salt water is a really good idea too. It will help it to heal. Also the ice pack's are too. They will help you keep the pain to a minimum. I would plan some small trips out to cool places like if a walmart is close by go for a drive. Especially if Dirk can drive have him take you. Donna |
AWWW, ((((((Nikko)))))),
http://chocolate-moose.p5.org.uk/MIN...bears-mini.gif It takes awhile to get back from having a tooth pulled. Especially those where the dentist thinks you can open your mouth wide enough to swallow a small bus :p I always feel real crappy after the novacaine, too. I used to go to the dentist religiously (well, not with the religious 'feeling' :o -- was referring to 'time-wise'). After I stopped working and went on Medicare my mouth went south (didn't know you were going to be treated to a little poetry, did you  ). It took a lot of money and effort and just pain ole' perseverance to get my mouth back to where it was before I retired. Take care of yourself and feel all the BIG HUGS surrounding you. You'll be better before you know it. Hugs. Barb http://chocolate-moose.p5.org.uk/MIN...aresmilley.gif |
I am just down right SAD and DEPRESSED. I wish I could say that the headaches/migraines were gone, but their not.
Now, it could be that some of the pain were from the bad teeth, and/or maybe there are more that should of been extracted. Unless this is all the healing process, but why would the pain still radiate up to my ear, nose and eye, starting at my jaw, at least it seems to be starting there, when before it seemed to be starting at my eye or ear. God, I don't even know anymore. It must be my TMJ acting up. Had to stay home in bed yesterday AGAIN. I want so bad to go out and do things, but I can't carry around an ice pack in this heat, plus when this pain starts all you want to do is get home.:( I started the 50mg of Topamax yesterday after a week of 25 mg, and WOW what a headache I got, is that a side effect or what? I don't think I want to take anymore of them, it was bad. This is just one bad nightmare. Sleep if I can get to sleep once the pain lets me, is my only relief. At least today I didn't wake up with any pain. I love to go out and do things, I am an all day pool person on the weekends, and I only made an hour and a half on Sat. I get so mad at myself. I feel so bad for Dirk too. I tell him to go and he does, and he went to his brother's for dinner, I told him no sense in staying here with me, when all I am trying to do is get rid of pain and sleep. He understands but wants to be with me and take me places, etc.........:) Have plans with my girlfriend and her husband and Dirk and myself to go out to dinner Friday night, God I hope I am better by then.;) None of my meds keep this pain at bay either. I want to just scream. I have so much to do around the house, I guess I will just see how the day goes, that's all I can do and pray a lot. I was laying in bed yesterday praying to God to please stop this pain. Hugs to all, have a good week, Nikko:grouphug: |
Nikko
You are doing what you can. It may just be going to take more time. I know you have heard that before. But keep working on it, and give it some more time. And the topamax is just up to 50mg, so it still maybe ready to start working. Donna |
