Sure, I will tell you more!

I use Sculpey clay, which is sorta hard at first, but you can soften it with your hands within minutes. After you mold it into what you want, you bake it in the oven. Then, after 20 minutes or so (depends on how thick what you are baking is) you turn off the oven, and leave it in the oven to cool.

I like Fimo clay too, but Sculpey is my favorite... it comes in different types: really hard type- Primo (which I don't recommend); Sculpey II/ III -my favorite!; types that glow in the dark, types that you make erasers with, etc...

I work with Sculpey II and III. You can buy these in sample packs with lots of colors or separate cubes (which are $1.50 at my favorite online store where I buy my clay online: http://polymerclayexpress.com/sculpey.html -in craft stores you cannot find them cheaper than $2.00).

I think you should try!! :D

Some of the figures I made up on my own, but others I used a book to direct me.

My favorite clay books are "Create Anything With Clay" (http://www.timberdoodle.com/index.as...OD&ProdID=275),
and "Make & Bake Clay: 19 Easy, Fun & Clever Polymer Clay Projects".

I use little plastic sculpey knives and pens to help with detail... brads for eyes, permanet marker to write on creations when dry and cool, and the Sculpey clay gun is the best! (http://www.timberdoodle.com/index.as...OD&ProdID=278). There is much you can do with knives and forks around the kitchen though, too! :) I use a glue gun to put strings on them to hang 'em and to put papers with writing on them sometimes...

Aww! Just looked... she's adorable! Are you tall too? I am 5' 8 1/2" tall... my mom's whole side of the family is really tall though.

Can't wait to see the projects, glad she enjoyed the links, tell her to have fun! :D Tell her to use her imagination, you'll find some artistic ability you didn't know you had (best advice I got).

is there a reason i can't see your clay projects? ceramics was my major in h.s i loved it and i miss it even though it's been 30 yrs. my grandaughter is only 7 and is so creative and good with play doh. gail

Check all 3 boxes. Especially the last one....
Example:

Show Avatars
Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)

At the very bottom be sure to click
Save Options.

I have so enjoyed looking at your clay cuties:)

It also brought back the sweetest memories of my Dad, who had a gift too with claywork. As a little kid, growing up on a farm in the 20s, he would use mud to make his figurines. Later, when I was growing up, he made entire farm scenes and quite the most delightful other characters and then, after he becasme grandpa to my sons, he made things for them

After he died in 1994, my sons made a special box in which we have the farm animals he last made for them. Very special
