I'm getting really excited,
I'm getting so excited. I haven't been in the Christmas spirit much this year. Only because I spend a lot of time by myself. But I had a big high with the issues of cancer going away so well.
Now tomorrow Derrick is coming back and of course Dobey also. To spend Christmas with me. He will be here till New Years Eve. Then maybe he can come back after new years for a while. His schooling is hopefully finished. He should know the first week of January how he faired on the ECA and if he graduates in January with an high school diploma. Wow, I honestly never thought I'd be saying that about this young man. He has gotten rave reviews from work also. And we are being given the opportunity to switch his hours. Which I'm thinking we will do because of the bus and winter. I'm excited about Friday, Dan's girlfriend Kortni is being induced if baby isn't here. Her name is going to be Harmony Marie Roberts. Wow, I'm so excited, I never thought I'd have a real granddaughter. I have 4 steps. donna :grouphug: |
those are all so great!

Lots of good news, Donna!

Gosh when its good, then something happens for it to be bad.
Derrick called me earlier tonight. He fell and hurt his arm. Turns out to be his elbow. He is at the hospital with my friend who is his provider and her son. Now we are waiting to see what is up with it. Gosh what an thing to happen. Donna :grouphug: |
You have so many things to look forward to and be excited about Donna, I'm so happy for you! :)
I hope that Derrick's elbow isn't very bad. He has been doing so well with work and school, he doesn't deserve to have to deal with a bad injury  |
Derrick's elbow is broke. Its in an splint and sling right now. He goes to the orthopedic to hopefully get an cast tomorrow.
Really hoping no surgery needed. Donna :grouphug: |
Good luck to him. :hug::hug::hug:
I hope he has a full recovery. M |
I'm so sorry for him, Donna. I hope he doesn't need that surgery, and has a quick recovery :hug::hug:
|
oh dear-hope no surgery
|
:grouphug:No surgery, and no cast. Which makes it harder if you ask me for him.
But he is doing pretty well. He starts pt or ot tomorrow. Donna PS No baby the hospital had so many on Friday the 23rd that they had to postpone inducing till the 31st of December. Unless she goes sooner. Donna |
That is so weird to hear about such hospital timing / scheduling.
Good luck to her and the baby.:heartthrob: M |
I agree with Mari… odd that they rescheduled the induction. I've never heard of a hospital doing that.
You must be very excited and getting impatient! :) Poor Derrick! No cast is one thing, but starting PT so soon after a fracture is very surprising. Usually bones need to heal before PT… I don't know anything about broken elbows, but I would want an explanation about that. |
We kind of chose that because he wanted him to move and do the work himself. I was afraid he wouldn't know how to move it. So he went on
Wednesday and got just three exercises. HE will get more as time goes on. They didn't have another appointment for this week so he goes back next Tuesday and Thursday. I like the main guy that is doing it. This is the group that does the camp he has volunteered at for years. So many came back to say hi. Donna :grouphug: |
My granddaughter Harmony Marie Roberts was born by c section on Wednesday the 28th at 6:39pm. She is really small 4lbs and 8 or 9 ounces.
So is in incubator or that is what it looks like. She had cpap till yesterday, and has antibiotics intervenously. Honestly not sure if its just because she is so small. She will have to stay a while. I have pictures on Facebook, and my phone. But not the computer if I can get them on here I'll load one. Donna :grouphug: |
Happy news!
Congratulations on your new baby granddaughter. M |
Congratulations Donna!!! :)
What a pretty name! I hope that she starts to gain some weight quickly so that she can go home soon. I'm glad that you like the main PT that Derrick has, and that he is doing it since it is the right thing to do. |
what great news. she must be so cute
|
She went home Monday night. She has gained about 3 to 5 ounces.
She still is so much smaller than any of my kids were. Donna :grouphug: |
I'm so happy she's at home now! :)

Congratulations, Donna! She's beautiful!!! :):):)
Thank you so much for sharing her picture with us! |
I get updates mainly daily. I've been on the run so much and the weather is keeping me away from going to see Harmony again. But the weather will get better. She is around 6lbs now. Thinks to the formula. But she doesn't want to drink out of any bottles but Nuby's which are not available in all stores.
So mom ordered some to get to their house on the 18th.. Derrick has been out at my house since Thursday, and was only home a couple days between appointments. But the fire department was at his apartment house yesterday because of a gas leak. Which turned out his gas stove had a burner on. The landlord put on child proof knobs so it wont happen again. THe fire department had to come back today. The house of apartments were fine, but the man hole in the front of the house has a leak. Its being fixed today by the town. Of course we have ice storm warnings, so they have bad weather to do it in. So probably getting overtime for the work if they are is good. Donna :grouphug::hug: |
wonder if that means my folks are in for more weather....????

I'm sorry that the weather is keeping you from your granddaughter
I'm so happy that she's 6lbs now! It's funny how fickle babies can be about certain things... I'm glad that more bottles have been ordered so her mom's life will be easier. It's pretty easy to forget to leave burners on. I'm glad they changed the knobs on Derrick's stove. Stay warm and safe, Donna :hug::hug: |
Well someone want to tell me how Indiana has gotten 50 degree weather
the last two days. And 40's a couple before that. Wow, what a difference. Been enjoying the weather. Got to hold Harmony yesterday, she is at 7lbs now. Really a difference then my boys or my nieces or nephews. They all were 8 1/2 or more pounds. Anyway, Derrick is healing well and now doing strengthening. He is looking to go back to work on the 6th of February. He returns to school tomorrow. Donna :grouphug: |
donna, what happened to derrick, I forget.

We had a little heat wave of our own last week, and will be seeing temps in the high 40's Weds and Thurs again... SO WEIRD. I'm glad you are enjoying the warmer weather :)
I'm happy you got to see your little peanut :) Does she have any hair now? What color are her eyes? How is her mum dressing her? Sorry to be nosy... I love babies :) I'm glad things are getting back on track for Derrick. I hope that his elbow doesn't give him any problems when he goes back to work. |
Bizi
You were probably in Indiana when it happened. But Derrick fell on ice and broke his elbow. He is in Occupational Therapy. Kay She still has no hair. Her eyes haven't decided their color yet. Her mom dresses her in cute outfits. But also at times when really cold just dresses her for warmth. In the things without feet. I can't remember their name. Donna :grouphug: |
Ouch!
((((HUGS)))) bizi |
Thank you for the details Donna. I can't remember the names of those things either... all I can think of is onesies lol. My youngest nephew is three now, so it's been a while since we've had a baby in my family.

:grouphug:Okay, So happy I have a few friends in Lafayette. And nice strangers.
Yesterday morning went to pick Derrick up from school to go to OT. Found we had about 30 minutes, decided to go get him a drink. Well got around a corner and my car went down. It wouldn't move. The tires were fine. An nice guy across the way came he had seen it not go. And I was in middle of the lane. He and Derrick tried to push me out of way. Car wouldn't budge. Another nice guy who I knew I could trust to try moving my car himself. After he asked me to see if it would go in reverse. Moved it back and then it went to side of road forward. With the other guy keeping traffic back so they and my car would not get hit. And me keeping Derrick out of way. He saved me a towing fee for sure. He told me it was a tire rod that went out. And Derrick and I walked back to his therapy about a block or two down the road. I got ahold of my friend Shannon and she came and got us. My husband was coming after work. So I was going to Derrick's apartment to hang out with him and Dobey. We went out to eat with Derrick and Chris her son. It was a nice afternoon. We at spaghetti and Lagasna at Fazoli's. And I then helped follow my husband home. He then took the car to the shop after we had bought parts. It turned out to be a productive day, other than I didn't get my sandwiches I was going to bring home to eat. He went with the mechanic who is a friend. To see a friend of ours at the VA hospital and to eat. Donna |
It sounds like a busy day.
sorry about your car troubles. ((((HUGS))))) bizi |
What an ordeal, Donna!
But you have wonderful attitude that always impresses me. Most people would only come away feeling the stress of the situation, where you are just thankful that you had nice people who helped you, and are just happy that things worked out. You're amazing :hug::hug: I am glad that things worked out so well for you and everything is okay :) |

I agree with kay,
You are amazing!:) ((((HUGS)))) bizi |
Thanks Ladies
I really needed those thoughts today. For some reason my phone has been ringing off the hook with parents. I believe after I get all calls returned this afternoon. Because I have one I haven't been able to reach. I got 3 new parents either calls or assistance tickets Tuesday and Wednesday together. And two I believe emails. And today I've talked to 2 new parents maybe three this morning. I have been very quiet and slow. Guess they are just catching up now. Donna :grouphug: |
I'm sorry Donna
I'm sure it's harder to be more positive at work because you care about the kids so much and the parents can be difficult to deal with :hug::hug: |
