Workshop....I signed up!

WORKSHOPS

Designing Your Next Chapter
This workshop is for those who want to explore their next chapter. Perhaps you are considering making a job or career change and are not sure what that might look like. Or, you might want to add some spice to your life. Have you considered volunteering or adding a new activity to your life but are not sure what or how? Spring is a time of renewal. This workshop will help you envision your next steps.

We will dive into fun and engaging thought exercises, discussion, and discovery to help you design and build your life.

Six-week workshop series, 2 hours per session,

Tuesdays, 6 - 8pm
March 14, 21, 28, April 4, 11, 25, 2017 (Note: we will skip April 18)

The workshop uses as its framework the book, Designing Your Life: How to Build a Well-Lived, Joyful Life, by Bill Burnett & Dave Evans.

Some of the questions we will answer in the workshop include:
  • What's next for me in my work/life?
  • What action might I take to kick my life up a notch?
  • How may I make a larger contribution in my community/state/the world?
  • How do I meet people who might be interested in my ideas or from whom I may learn?
In a small group, we'll explore these questions and more. We will have fun. We will be inspired and challenged. We will be curious together. The experience just might change your life.
------------------------

I am looking forward to doing this workshop. A friend of mine is leading the group. She is a life coach.

It sounds interesting Bizi. It's a big time commitment, but it seems like they cover a lot of ground though. I remember you have said in the past that you felt stagnant. Maybe this is the boost you need

Thanks Kay, it is only $120 dollars for the complete work shop, 12 hours with small group.. so affordable.
I will spend that with my new therapist today for one hour, actually it is $140 for the first visit. Ouch!
I want to get to the root of my addictive personality.

It's nice that it's a small group. You'll be able to get more accomplished.

I hope you had a good visit with your therapist

I really liked her.
thanks

I met with my new therapist and liked her.
I will see her 1-2 times a month.
She said that I am not going to change my addictive personality.
sigh

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

DBT....useful for substance abuse issues.
I am going to ask my therapist about this.

A discussion about what kind of therapies she is going to implement during your treatment is a good idea :)

The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Workbook: Practical DBT Exercises for Learning Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation & ... Tolerance (New Harbinger Self-Help Workbook)
Matthew McKay

I just ordered the above book.

I slept like crap last night....woke up late rearranged my schedule to see a client tomorrow. So I had the morning off so that I could make myself take a shower, sigh
I hope I sleep better tonight.

I think the workbook was a good buy :)

I really hope you got some good sleep

bizi 02-20-2017 10:48 AM

got good sleep last night even though I imbibed a lot over the weekend.
I see my therapist for the second time thursday.
My DBT work book should be in today so that is good. I am going to bring it in with her.
I am hoping it will help me over come my addictions.
Got up later than I should and have been on this computer too long and have missed a shower that I should have taken.
1st cup of coffee tastes so good.
I have a light week, hopefully clients will call so I can fill up my time.
supposed to meet some friends for lunch at 1130.
Taco sisters....I feel like abandoning my diet altogether. sigh

I was on the computer for so long this morning that I did not have time to wash my face nor brush my teeth. I am an addict, I know. Even so I was still late for my morning appointment.
sigh

I forgot it is a holiday today, no mail service.
rats!
Book will be here tomorrow(I hope).

Since I have a tiny break this afternoon and am on here. I should run in to the bathroom and wash my face and brush my teeth after I finish this cup of coffee.

I'm probably only about 1/2 on my diet right now. I wish I wasn't on it at all either. I have given up almost 2 pounds cheating and am not happy about it since I worked so hard to lose that weight :(

I'm sorry that your DBT workbook didn't come in yesterday. Hopefully it will be there in plenty of time for Thursday so you can take a good look at it before your appointment with the therapist.

Thanks kay, I brought the book with me to therapy today and she liked the book, had it already and used it when she taught a class previously.
I really like Robin alot.
I think she is probably the best therapist that I have ever seen.
She picked up that I might be "ADD" and suggested that I talk with my pdoc about getting tested and medicated as a possibility. I remembered years ago my pdoc suggested I might be ADD and to get tested. I said why bother?
We never talked about medication.
Robin today mentioned:
Vyvanse
I will look it up.

I'm so glad that you like her!!!

It's great that she likes the book and has used it in the past, too. It will be a good supplement to your twice a week therapy sessions

thank you kay.
I will only see robin 1-2 times a month. Can't afford to go more often.
Last night when I could not sleep it dawned on me that I must be hypomanic.
This would explain my increased eating, drinking and internet activities.

OhKay 02-27-2017 07:38 AM

I'm sorry, Bizi. I "misspoke" I did mean twice a month.

You are probably right that you are hypo... that's when you binge, and the alcohol can mask some of the other symptoms so it's harder to identify episodes, especially if you are rapid cycling :hug::hug:

bizi 02-27-2017 10:00 AM

you are fine my dear!
I hope that I don't get full blown manic while I am with my family in florida starting saturday. I will bring zyprexa with me in case that happens. I won't have jeff to help me if I need it. I will ask gretchen to help keep an eye on me.

Bizi

My grandson is on Vvanse. His is for both adhd and tics. I realize you don't have tics. But this is one of the meds that really help other things.

Its worked a lot on his tics.

Zyprexa is pretty fast-acting. I'm glad that you are bringing it, and it's was a great idea to give your sister a heads up and ask her to keep an eye on you :hug::hug:

How are you doing on Klonopin? I didn't take it at night while I was drinking because I didn't need it and didn't want to mix, but I find that if I control my anxiety during the day now I do much better at controlling my mood.
