I am sending good thoughts.
Tell her to eat a high protein diet and high calorie diet for proper wound healing. shoot for 60-90 grams of protein a day. and of coarse lots of water.
She should be taking a good multi vitamin. And zinc with food. These are things she has control of.
((((HUGS))))

I wish her well.:heartthrob:

she tends to be a vegetarian so I am afraid to mention that to her. she really sounded good today but for the past months she has been so upset and fighting it. she is very religious and spiritual but up to now that hasn't been helping her.I think it finally kicked in buut I am afraid to do anything to rock the boat. She does know a lot about nutrition and vitamins and a close friend of hers is an herbalist who knows of all sorts of esoteric things. I will mention water and zinc

She can get proteins thru vegetables, eggs, milk, yogurt cheese
soy beans edemome is the best source of veggie complete amino acids/protein. There are protein powders that she could use. I use a pea protein powder at times for smoothies. there are many different choices these days, boost ensure, body builders shakes.
They never emphasis this increased protein/calorie diet for wound healing, enough.
I used to be a wound care nurse. (In another life)
I am glad that she is mentally better.

suri called me two days ago and yesterday. she said they weren't able to get all the cancer out and there were three spots on her lungs which could have been caused by her breathing. she is having radiation and chemo but no radiation for her lungs. we talked for a long time. she said she didn't want to burden anyone. I said it was love and not a burden. I am so upset.
for the past while I haven't felt like going to the senior center. I have been so tired. I am going to the pdoc today and the eye doctor tomorrow. suri made me feel better when she said you just don't go blind overnight from diabetes. I go tomorrow to the eye doctor/http://diabetesupdate.blogspot.com/2008/06/how-long-does-it-take-to-develop.html

are you taking met formin or glucophage? or both? Some times people have to take 2-3 different pills to get their blood sugars down. They usually draw your A1c blood test to check your blood sugars every 3 months. You could ask what this number is for you. It should be less than 6.5. It is a much better indicator of how your blood sugars have been than a one time check for a fasting blood sugar.

i take metformin twice a day and i think my a1c is just below 6.5. I don't have much carbs. I used to have glimneride(sp) too but he took me off that

Guessing as her blood sugar readings or A1C they decided she didn't need more than the metformin

We are all praying for her. This really was one of the things that
