pdoc's appt

I asked him if he would raise the risperdal from 1 1/2 to 2 because of my obsessing and he said no. I asked if he would raise my antidepressants and he only raised zoloft to 1mg from 1/2. He said I was cynical about p.t. He said Rush was one of the best places for strokes in the country. He mentioned a company called via which only shares five dollars a ride each way. I had never heard of it. He is so informed. I am trying to find out if rusk takes medicare and stroke victims like me. I am waiting for a callback. My depression comes and goes. It is also related to my constipation. The phillips isn't working well.
One of the withdrawal side effects of giving up coffee is constipation which I already had a problem with.
Robert didn't seem that concerned about my crawling that day. He said something about the changes in body chemistry. I ask Robeert about everything. I really think he is a genius.

OhKay 04-28-2017 08:36 AM

Bobby, you can always call your PCP to consult him about a bowel regiment if your constipation is becoming a big issue. Sometimes it takes a combination of things to get things going. I take a prescription laxative called lactulose which really works for most people and may be an option for you. It is worth discussing with him. If you do go that route, the syrup is much cheaper than the powder.

thanks. I am afraid he will insist I have a colonoscopy which I don't want

i never had one. the anxiety would kill me.just the thought of it starts giving me a panic attack. if i die from it i die from it.

mymorgy 04-28-2017 01:19 PM

I am still filled with anxiety .your curiosity really bummed me out

Dmom3005 04-28-2017 01:19 PM

Bobby

If I remember right your in your 70's, so I think telling the pcp that your anxiety
wouldn't let you do this test would be enough. Also I have been refusing
anymore, only because I know I can't take the stuff they used to give to
clear the system. So unless they have something new its no.

thank you so much Donna. I am going to be 73 towards the end of May. He has mentioned to me a few times and I told him about my anxiety but he doesn't get it. For a week for instance I was afraid of going blind. I had no symptoms but he mentioned I was diabetic or maybe diabetic and diabetics can go blind.
He doesn't understand generalized anxiety disorder. I have a severe case.
It is funny though I wasn't afraid when I had my neck surgery both times one week after the other. I don't understand that. I think I figured if I die I die.
also cancer doesn't run in my family. all my life I hardly drank or eat red meat or fatty food and hardly any carbohydrates in years

"The benefits of screening colonoscopy in preventing colorectal cancer (CRC) in adults 70 years of age appear scant, and the risks associated ..."

bizi 04-28-2017 11:14 PM

sorry I bummed you bobby, did not mean to.
I did not know that you had 2 neck surgeries.
((((HUGS)))))

I woke up sick today bizi. Please be careful when you ask questions out of curiosity. After the stroke I had surgery to place a stent in my artery but after going in they saw it was over 99 percent clogged and they couldn't do it. the next week when the blood thinners wore off they cut the vein and cleaned out the plaque.

Bobby, I know that doctors can really put on the pressure sometimes, but you always have to the right to say no… to anything. It is your body. You are allowed, and should be able to feel free to, to go seek care for one thing and refuse to be tested/treated for something else.

I think this is the doctor we talked about explaining your anxiety to? Have you gotten a chance to do that yet? I would hope he would be more sensitive towards you after a talk like that, but regardless, I can understand why you would want to avoid approaching him about this "area."

If you don't want to go to the doctor because of this issue, you can try taking a fiber laxative like Metamucil or Fibercon and an osmotic like Mirilax together to try to get and keep things going. I recommend the fiberCon, and buying the generics for both.

And maybe let's not talk about the test anymore… ?

I knew about these carotid artery surgeries, I thought you meant neck fusions or something in regards to your spinal column..sorry for the confusion.

the fibers don't work for me. phillips worked today. It was a new bottle. Hoorary. Yes let us not talk about the test. I see the doctor the end of may. I will telll him about my experience with the eye worrying.

OhKay 04-29-2017 09:59 AM

I was talking about taking a combination… both laxatives everyday for maintenance.

I'm glad the Philips worked for you! :)
I know it is a big relief physically and as far as worrying.

mymorgy 04-29-2017 04:13 PM

I am afraid of taking fibers and getting blocked up

OhKay 04-30-2017 10:36 AM

I can understand that.
I don't think fiber's a good idea for you at this point then... I think taking anything for your bowels you're uncomfortable with is a bad thing. Constipation it can cause too much worry already :hug::hug:

The theory of taking both is the fiber bulks up the stool and the osmotic moves it through the intestines tho.

mymorgy 04-30-2017 02:05 PM

I never tried both together. I just might. It might help. I just checked. I have metucil(sp). when do I take it with the laxative? I just bought more teas. I don't think they have half the amount of caffeine as coffee. I also bought a couple of p.t. thing I used when I went to p.t. I hope I use them. I am reading a delightful book by Gayle Buck. I slept most of the day. Practically everything I read says that having a stroke makes you tired and it lasts for a very long time.

bizi 04-30-2017 04:19 PM

I am glad that you slept.

People usually take Metamucil in the morning. I would take the Mirilax at night.

Dmom3005 05-01-2017 12:13 PM

When I take my fiber pills I take them in the morning. I can't handle the
stuff you put in your water. But I've found it takes me quite a few of
the pills. But it will help after a day or two. I also try to eat bran flakes
as much a week as I can. At least 3 or 4 times a week. Its been
the most help for me.

I wouldn't have ever thought it would be. But I wasn't getting a lot of
help with anything else. The bran usually makes the fiber pills unneeded.

Thank goodness.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

OhKay 05-02-2017 09:41 AM

I take 2 FiberCon pills twice a day. I can't stomach the powder either.
