i haven't left the apt since a week ago
i have been very tired. I go to bed early and and now wake up at two or three but i get more hours of sleep. stella just called and asked if i wanted to meet for tea. I said I was too tired
|
Bobby I know the feeling. I finally got out of the house yesterday to get food, cat food, medicine, and gas for the car. I think that the tiredness is due to depression, and low moral. We don't hear any good news on tv. BF:hug::hug::hug:

When you're not getting out and don't have to keep a schedule, it's easy for your sleep cycle to get out of whack like that. Some people are comfortable with that kind of schedule though. Is it bothersome?
You have been sounding pretty good lately. Do you think that your desire to stay at home is because you are so tired and just more comfortable there? That happens to me sometimes. But it does happen to me when I'm depressed, too. |
i don't have the energy to go out. I have to start doing balance exercises. It has gotten so much worse.

i don't think i am going to leave the apartment this week. I have three books i want to read plus ten more. I just took a bath and looked up how tall Mrs trump is 5 11-she ties with Michele

What kinds of exercises do you do? |
since the stroke my balance isn't good. i looked on the internet and I saw some where you hold onto a chair and lift one leg at a time for a few seconds.so far I have only done it once. I am so tired. it looks doable- I forgot what the other ones were. NIHSeniorHealth: Exercise: Exercises to Try - Balance Exercises

I had a stoke about 5 or 6 years ago. It was from BP medication. I was bleeding when I peed and had brutal stomach pains so I tried to quit taking it. That's what caused the stroke. My balance was thrown off along with my vision, speech and use of my hands. When I sat down in front of my computer about a month afterwards I cried. I couldn't see and I couldn't type. My balance has been off ever since.
I try to do this: The Ultimate Tai Chi Warm Up ..... Awesome! - YouTube It looks easy but I find it a challenge. I don't go out much either. :( |
I am sorry it happened to you. I watched the video and it looked too difficult for me. I just turned 73. I was lucky with my stroke my neurologist told me.she said I could have been paralysed on my right side. I got worse after trying two p.t. places. I bought a stationary bike which I use for only a few minutes and I bought that stuff like silly putty for my hand, I also bought stretch bands which are lost somewhere. Have you gained back much of what you lost? Did you suffer from constant fatigue?
It is sad about not really wanting to go out. I am afraid to go a few blocks for fear of not having the strength to get back. sending prayers bobby |
I'm sorry that you suffered a stroke, Wiix
I hope that you don't have many more lasting symptoms aside from the balance problems  Be careful with the chair exercises, Bobby. Make sure the chair you are using is super-sturdy and on a level surface. |

I can't imagine how tired you get at 73. It must be crippling. I have to take in a little more caffeine just to function. I guess what Bette Davis said was true: Getting old isn't for sissies. :o |
you are a trooper!
prayers bobby |
Thanks but I wouldn't go that far. :winky:

sure you are just not humble from one stroke victim to another. Mine wasn't as bad. I was in denial for a while and then got worse after physical therapy!
Now I am a coward. five flights of stairs.wow.two flights of stairs maybe |
I have to work up the courage everyday. :o
|
you have a great attitude. I read books and watch my cats play -poor attitude.
I think I am still in denial and not dealing with it. Practically all my time is in bed.I tried at first with p.t. but got worse. Maybe you will inspire me. fondly'bobby |
You flatter me. :o
|
I don't think so. your stroke was a lot worse than mine and boy do you have courage and persistence. I just rode my bike for three minutes. I have to meet a friend for dinner three blocks away and I am scared. lol but really no kidding.

OMG Wiix, 5 flights of stairs! God bless you! I don't know how you do it!
Bobby, everyone is different. I couldn't walk 3 city blocks. I know that for certain tho, so I would never attempt to do it. I think 3 minutes on the bike is good! And reasonable given your level of fatigue, your age, and the fact that you have physical limitations now from the stroke. The 10 minutes they had you doing at PT on the bike (and then more exercises!) was WAY too much... their eval and care plan were really off the mark, and you suffered for it  I think that you WILL do well with regular exercise like that if you don't push yourself too hard when you do go out or exert yourself in other ways :hug::hug: |
