Sending Prayers to Minnesota
:(
I don’t know if we have any forum members that live in Minneapolis or in Minnesota, or that have family members there. If we do, my heart is breaking for you. I hope that all of your family and friends are safe and sound. Today, during rush hour traffic, a major bridge crossing the Mississippi River collapsed, sending vehicles raining down into the River...and smashing some that were underneath. It is an awful story...so very sad. Tonight on Night Line they have said that there are at least 60+ injured, and 7 confirmed dead. They didn’t give any numbers on the missing, though. They did say that they are still doing rescue and recovery in the rubble, but that the efforts have been changed to recovery for those that fell in the River. They don’t know why the bridge collapsed. It passed inspections in 2003 and 2005, according to what the Governor said tonight when they had him on the phone. They did have a crew out there, that had been working on resurfacing the bridge....but cannot understand how that would have lead to it’s collapse. They haven’t ruled it out, though....at this point they haven’t ruled much of anything out. They have been too busy looking for the people that need finding, to have been able to get much figured out about why this happened. The pictures that they have shown are...well...awful. I can’t imagine being there. There was a bus load of children on a school trip that just missed being tossed into the River, and crashing down with the bridge. Other victims helped to get the kids out of the bus, as it was scooted over to the edge of the bridge, and the kids were freaking out. So far, they are saying that all of those kids are OK...so that is a blessing. Just, send all of the good thoughts and prayers that you can to the people of Minneapolis and Minnesota, as this is an awful tragedy they have suffered. Love and  Jose |
Hi Jose,
I am watching it on Fox News. That is so sad for them. They have called off the search for tonight.
That is so heartbreaking. Thanks for putting it on here. I know we had some people on the forum from Minnesota at one time but can't remember who. They do need all the prayers we can give. Ada |
Thank you Jose! I was watching my "Cleveland Indians" game and I started switching channels and I just stopped, stared and then it all sunk in.. CNN news channel has been talking about this all evening. My thoughts, love and prayers go out to each and every single person and their families over there. 20 people are still missing, 60 injured and 9 killed as of right now. how very, very sad this makes me feel! This is like a nightmare!!

Jacquelina,
i am sitting here watching the news and it makes chills go through me.
I am soooo glad you are ok. It was a miracle that you weren't on there. To see all of those vehicles in around the river, it just makes a person wonder how many are lost. I am praying for all of them and their families. Such a heartbreaking accident. Ada |

My prayers are with you also. Ada |
Jacquelina,
I am so glad that you didn’t go to the Twins game! That is something else that they said on the news tonight; that the traffic was especially heavy because of the Twin’s game, and so many people heading to go and watch it. I am glad that your RSD had you staying home tonight. Like you said, this is one instance when RSD did something GOOD for a change! I was surprised that the Twins still played..it would seem to me that they would have been distracted, and not had their heads in the game. I hope they won. I hope that all of your friends and family are safe and sound. I am adding special prayers for you tonight...and I hope that you are able to keep your stress level down as best as you can, and that this doesn’t help to flare your pain up. We are here if you need us...I hope you know that. Anyway...I wanted to answer your post, and comment on your beautiful name! Jacquelina...is it a very pretty name. :) My grandmother’s name was Jacquesine, and folks just called her “Jackie”. I always thought that she had such a beautiful...and important sounding name. Maybe “important” isn’t the right word....but I am not sure that “exotic” is either? How about “A Really Super Neat and Pretty Name!” ;) LOL. Your name reminded me of my grandma, because they are a little similar. :) It is nice to run across things that remind me of her unexpectedly. So, thank you for that. Please let us know how you are doing through all of this. Love and  Jose |

Oh Sweetie. I can’t even imagine what you are going through right now. You can be sure that I will be praying that you hear from your son, and that he is safe and sound, and only hasn’t been able to get a hole of you because of the lines all being busy. That is a thing that happens when we least want or need it to; the lines getting all busy and tied up because of all of the folks that are trying to call all at once. Please be sure to tell your docs and nurses at the Hospital about this, if you haven’t heard from your son by the time you go in..Ok? They need to know because of BP rates, and all sorts of things. They might even want to postpone things...if that is at all possible, so that they can have you in the best shape that you can be for surgery. (Sorry...I don’t know what you are having to go in for....If you have said, I must have missed the post). Please, please please let us know when you hear from your son, ok? I am hoping and praying that it is soon. Also, please, please, please let us know how you are doing too. Is there anyway that someone can give us an update on you while you are in the hospital, or after you get out (and don’t feel like posting)? I know that I will be worried about you....and your son....and how everything is going. I am sure that I am not the only one. I am sending you HUGE amounts of good thoughts and Prayers on top of Prayers...and as many  as you need and/or want. We are here for you. Love and  Jose |
Hi Sue,
The hotline no. is 612-871-7676. I don't know if you have this but I just got it for the families who want to check on family members. I believe they said this was the Red Cross no.

Thank you all
Still don't know, been trying the no. but knowing him and family
the are out helping, Bless you all. Sue and i love the Mn. people. |
I'm also from the Twin Cities area. I should have been over in that area, had I gone to my appt. Thank goodness, I didn't. I did however have a cousin, his wife, kids, and my niece all in the immediate area, when it happened. My cousin had just crossed over the bridge apprx. 1-2 minutes before it collapsed. Another minute or two and my niece would have been on that bridge. She started her new job yesterday...first time that she ever in the area.
Thank You all for keeping all of us MN people in your thoughts and prayers. :grouphug: cjay |

I am sending my condolences to everyone involved. We have had quite a few recent tragedies over here in Australia in recent times and it really makes me very sad for all of those involved---It sends a chill right through me looking at the footage. Tayla:hug: |
Hi Everyone.
I also live in Minnesota. This is absolutely horrible. This is a main artery that runs through Minneapolis. There was a good thing - because of the work that was being done on the bridge, there was only 1 lane open. So, there would have been many more if all the lanes were open. It was almost eerie coming into work today. There were about 1/2 the amount of cars in the parking lot. I was told that news stations were asking for people to stay home today. With this bridge out, it will be years before another one is built. I have a similar story where a coworker would have had family members on that bridge when it collapsed. They happened to have a work radio in the car who notified this person to stop and not go any further on the highway. Please pray for all of the people who are missing members of their families who could still be in the water. They are estimating 20-30 more cars that they haven't recovered yet. They know for sure that there are people in some of those cars. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Dear God, Please comfort all of the people who are missing their loved ones and hold all of them tight with your grace. Please give the survivors the courage and strength to go on. Please bless all of the people who have already passed and guide them into your arms for eternal peace. Amen. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: |
such a terrible tradgedy
Thanks Josie.
I have an Aunt & Uncle in a suburb of Minneapolis & their 4 kids, who are adults now, & familiese pretty much all live in that area. My Aunt & Uncle are retired. I have been waiting to try to call to find out if all are ok due to the phone lines being tied up with it all. But I finally did call another Aunt who would know if something had happened to any of our family & she said as far as she knew all was well with them all. That none of them used I-35 to go back & forth to work. Whew that was a load off of my mind. I myself have been across that I-35 bridge alot when I lived in Iowa. But that was years ago. It just seems so surreal to see it right now though. My prayers & thoughts go out to all that have been affected by this horrible tradgedy. The reason they kept the Twins game on was to keep people at the game & off the streets. They felt that it would just cause heavier traffic with everyone leaving the game if they postponed it & that would make it worse for all the emergency vehicles. They have postponed the Twins game for today though. DebbyV |
I also send my condolences and prayers to everyone involved in the tragedy and to anyone who is affected in whatever way....
Love Frogga...xxxxxxxx |
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you that live in MN. and those of you that have families there.

Has anyone heard from Sue? Has she heard from her son? I have been thinking about her and her family, and praying that all is well. Please, if anyone has heard, please let us know? Sue, I hope that all is well. I hope that you got through your hospital stuff good, and that you have been able to talk with your son and his family on the phone, and know that they are OK. I have been sending up all of the good thoughts and prayers that I can for you all!! Love and  Jose |
Sue and her
family are all ok, or as ok as one can be after such an awful disaster. She has several posts about it on the peripheral neuropathy board, so I will let you read first hand her excitment at hearing from her son and his coming visit.:) Carose

Prayers
We spent the weekend with family from the Cities and it is such a shock. My husband and I were in awe as we used to live just two blocks from the bridge and my sister drives over it everyday to work. Luckily, she punched out late at 6:07. I know the recovery efforts are slow, but they are doing all they can to keep the rescuers as safe as possible. I know everyone we talk to from the Cities realize how big this story went and they are so appreciative of everyones thoughts and prayers. They couldn't believe all the different kinds of support being sent their way. I told them about all of your kind words and they were just amazed.
