Neighbor's Banana tree crowding my space
A little over a year ago before the neighbors moved in someone from maintenance had the
UGLY banana tree cut down to the ground. Today the tree is bigger than before and obscuring part of my computer room window. (See the first picture on the link.) There's no way to get rid of banana trees except to move to a new place. They are pests. This picture is close except the fruit is not in season at the moment and the actual tree in my window is much THICKER. Maybe I will try to take a picture and load it here but I suck at both of those. Banana Trees in Texas >> Top Growing Tips M |
is there a neighborhood ***. that you can protest to?
|
Probably not. All trees and such are dealt with by the "Association." (Lost the vocabulary for what the thing is called.)
Even if you dig up these banana trees by the roots, they grow back. =-=-=- The association did helpfully cut back one of the trees that lives right next to where hubby parks his car. Various parts of the tree come down whenever we get a storm and the tree was growing taller becoming a threat to the roof. Now that tree has been cut and trimmed enough to be of no harm -- at least until it grows back in a few years. |
Hoping maybe they will come trim this one for you also.
Sorry its such a pain. Donna :grouphug: |
I would not be a happy camper either...
I’m sorry you have to deal with yet another thing... Maybe all they can do is trim it/ cut it regularly? |
Sounds like they need to dig it up.

what if they put poison in it
|
Honestly Bobby I'd be afraid for poison to be used. Because it could
maybe hurt someone else or an animal. Donna :grouphug: |
not like a weed killer?
|
They could cut it down then apply brush be gone on the stalk. It is good for killing big greenery items. Might work for this thing...not sure though.

And the tree is technically in my yard -- in regards to location. That's what my mom noticed.
But I think if hubby and I found the by-laws of the association we would find that none of the trees are ours and thus are 100% the responsibility of the association. Poison would probably work but I do not feel that I could do that because the association might figure it out and poison is not good for the ground or other living things. - - - - - - My Mom teaches plants and stuff for her county agricultural dept. She uses natural products. M |
I would get ahold of the neighborhood organization.
Ask them what they or you can do with this tree. Explain that it is bothering _____________________ And that you would like to have it cut down, Gotten to more manageable situation. Or you could maybe let them know what your mom does, and that she would maybe be willing to give some natural solutions for getting rid of it. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
I asked Mom if she ever successfully got rid of a banana tree.
She did a kind of laugh/groan and said she "hacked" away at it over a long period of time. Scroll to the picture here with the rings. Did You Know Bananas... - The Root Cause |
Thanks mari, really interesting!

Our neighbors that share a wall with us are from China.
They have two little kids I can hear sometimes but they are mostly quiet and make cute little sounds. Last year the neighbors gave us Chinese cookies for their New Year in Feb. =-=-=-=-=- I want hubby to help me figure out and remember to give them a gift this time. |
That's so nice of you, Mari

Visit to mdoc office
Hi,
I went to see the PA instead of my mdoc -- the mdoc was booked for another week so I went to see the PA about my stomach pain that I had a few days ago. (the office had called in the refill for the anti-spasmodic and after two doses a few days ago my stomach was fine but I went into the office Tuesday anyway.) -=-=-=-=-=- I did blood work. The PA encouraged me to get a scan of my stomach. I felt so miserably depressed. The PA was nice. I do not like dealing with the mdoc. M |
I'm glad that your stomach is feeling better.
I'm sorry that the PA thought it was necessary to do a CAT Scan (?) of your stomach tho. I hope nothing turns up. Since you're feeling better, chances are nothing will :hug::hug: A lot of times, PA's, NP's, etc are a lot easier and nicer to deal with than MD's. |
Will you go for the scan?
just curious. bizi glad that your pain is better. |
Crazy neighbor planted (installed) some plants again.
She told hubby to water them. She should water them --- neither he nor I have any freaking interest in the plants. And we are in our dry season now. Screw that. =-=- She told hubby that she likes the neighborhood to look nice. Apparently, all the yards are part of her yard or something ---- maybe she has boundary issues. M |
Mari
Get a card, with a picture of a plant, say on the card, Only way anything planted in our yard by anyone but us. Gets watered is if the person that plants it waters it. You or anyone else planting these are welcome to water. We do not want to plant or water. Thanks Home owners Put it were the plants are. Donna :grouphug::hug: |
donna,
This is definitively a good idea. bizi |
She's on the board of the Homeowners Association.
She has a certain amount of power. |
She definitely has boundary issues, and never learned a thing after the first time she tried to pull this s-
I'm sorry about the added frustration Mari  |
I'm sorry but even if she is on the board.
I would think they would tell her that if she wants the plants in someone elses yard then she needs to water them Donna :grouphug: |
Thank you.
Yeah, No.
I'm not going to water the stupid plants. ;):p:  Some will survive for a while with rain falling from the roof. Or they might all die from a weird mold/ fungus like they did last time. M |
Good for you for not even bothering to water them again. Maybe when these ones die agin from neglect, she will get the hint?
|
The FDA is considering mushrooms with psilocybin for depression treatment.
:):):):) |
That's really interesting... it seems like there will be a lot of work involved in that venture.
|
How are you Mari?
