I had a stroke.
It happened about a week, and a half ago. I just got out of rehab. What's going on?!!! It was in the right brain stem of my brain. It was awful. I was told that the artery is blocked now. They can't operate on it because it could break up and go deeper into my brain and cause big trouble. Now instead of having four arteries going into my brain, I have three. BF:hug::hug::hug:

OMG...am so sorry to hear this.
Do you have any residual side effects. Can you walk? one side effected? what kind of stroke? ((((((HUGS))))) bjizi |
Hi, Friend,
Events like this are scary at first. I hope you had good hospital people around you. Were you given some rehab-type activities to continue out-patient?:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug: M |
oh no. How are you doing now? I am sorry they can't operate. Are you on medicine now? How has it affected you now. I had one a few years ago and they operated. I have trouble writing and I walk with a cane now.
Bobby |
I was so sorry to read this news, BF. You have had it hard (((HUGS)))
How are you doing now? And what have the doctors told you to expect to happen from here? I'm so glad that you are up to posting. Thank you for checking in and letting us know how you are doing :hug::hug: |
I'm not paralyzed. I can walk almost as well as before. I cannot walk a straight line foot to foot. I've been able to walk almost 12 hours after the stroke.
At the rehab, the doctor said I was the fastest patient to recover from a stroke that he's seen. It looks like he could not figure it out. I was walking on the first day there and the last day there. The day I left he could hardly believe that I was able to walk like normal. I of course have my knee pains, hip, hernia, kidney problems, and anxiety. I have to move from my apartment by September the 1st. I was told that people were going to pray for me. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
It's fantastic that you were able to get rehab so soon after the stroke
Between that, and all the prayers, I'm sure that's why you are doing as well as you are. It is good to hear :hug::hug: |
So sorry to hear. But so glad you are doing so well.
Donna :hug::grouphug: |

Keep us posted and try to take it easy  Majo |

Friend,
How is it going? How are you? bizi:hug: |
I'm not paralyzed. I saw my nurse practitioner on Thursday, and she said that I was lucky. It could have done major damage to my body, and mind.
I'm still processing this. I don't understand why I had a stroke. I'm on two new medicines, and am going to see a stroke doctor probably every three months on top of seeing a kidney doctor every three months, on top of seeing mental health councillors, and case managers. I'm going to get my eyes checked next week because the ambulance personnel lost my glasses in the ambulance. My brother in law is moving me out of the house that I've lived in for a while on September the 1st because he has sold the house, and plans on retiring soon. I don't know where I'm going to live yet. It's hard to find a place to live these days. I have car problems and other problems on top of other problems. I hope that I don't get anymore problems. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
Hi, Friend, :grouphug:
That's a shame about your glasses. Is there someone from the state helping you find a place to live? M |
Hi friend, you are very lucky in deed.
Your prayers were answered. May you come up with a new place to live soon. We worry about you when we don't hear from you. thank you for posting. (((((HUGS))))) bizi |
BF, I am very sorry to read that.
I wish you all the best for your recovery. |
you really were lucky about your stroke! That is so great. They will find you a home that is probably closer to civilization. I am glad for you that you will be away from your brother- in- law. I think he gives you negative vibrations. I only had one follow up after my stroke and operation. I wonder what they will be monitoring. I wonder if there is some agency that would provide you with a better car! You are doing great!

You were really unlucky, but lucky regarding the stroke. I'm sorry about all of your mounting problems, BF (((HUGS)))
I wish you knew where you are going to live. I think that would really alleviate your anxiety :hug::hug: |

It's really strange having all of these problems intersect at the same time. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
Have you started packing yet?
Will your family help you move? I am sorry you are going thru all of this. (((((HUGS))))) bizi |
I have many things all boxed up. The things that I need now are not. My nieces said that they will help with the moving. Unfortunately, I will not be able to take my cat along with me I've heard. This makes me sad. BF:hug::hug::hug:
|
Friend
You should be able to take your cat if its considered an emotional support cat. So I'd get a letter from your doctor showing that it helps with this. I think that might help with this. I am not sure why that wouldn't. Donna :grouphug: |
Wishing you well, Friend.
:grouphug: |
As you don't know where you're going yet, I don't know how they know that you can't take your cat with you yet, but I'm so sorry if that is the case. You have been through, and are going through, so very much (((HUGS)))

I might move into an assisted living facility. With kidney problems, a stroke, mental health issues and things like that, I may not be eating right though I thought that I was.
I still need my privacy. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
Dear Friend
I hope you are feeling better today. I know how scarey this may be. Work with your case workers and visit places in advance so you will have solid information to make a decision. Some of the places are like small apartments. I pray you find a safe environment to live. |
All the assisted living facilities I've been contracted to work in have been one bedroom apartments, but I do live in a different area than you. I hope wherever you go, you do have your own space and privacy- no common room or bathroom that you must share :hug::hug:
|
Most assited living homes allow you to keep your cat as long as it does not get out.

Now a cardiologist wants to see me. I had been wearing a heart monitor that sends data to a cellphone type of device that sends information to the hospital. I got a message on that cellphone the other day saying the test was over, and to send the cellphone, and pendants to some place in Florida. So I did.
Now I had a panic attack today worrying about my heart. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
Were you having symptoms, Is that why you had the monitor?
bizi |
I also had a monitor that I had to wear for about a week. I had no symptoms except the stroke
|
Friend
I know its hard, but try not to get to worried. The cardiologist may just need to give you the results of the test. Also this will help either way with your living placement. I think going into assisted living sounds like it might be a good thing for you. That way you would have a apartment to yourself, at least around my area you would. And the kitty could stay with you. Someone to come check on you if needed. That way you wouldn't have to worry about roommates. Exactly. Donna |

Hi, Friend,
It's good that the docs are checking everything out. If they find something, they can fix it. I had lots of tests after my stroke and the docs said I was fine. Sometimes they find nothing. M |
I'm so sorry you are dealing with so much, BF. You definitely have more than your fair share of problems to deal with. I wish I could lessen the burden that's weighing down on you (((HUGS)))
I know that all this testing and going to these appointments can be overwhelming, and at times scary, but the mdocs are just trying to see if they can find out why you had the stroke, and see if they can find any existing problems they can treat in order to prevent another stroke in the future :hug::hug: |
They did find something wrong. I'm not sure what it is. My case manager said it's like I have an extra heart beat at times. I talked to a nurse, and she said it could cause a problem over time. BF:hug::hug::hug:
|
Friend,
Wow. Have they explained what they can do to improve the situation? M |
I'm sorry that they did find a problem :hug::hug:
Have you seen the cardiologist yet? He/she should be able to explain things further/better, and there may be a treatment available to fend off future problems (((HUGS))) How have you been coping with all of this, BF? It is a lot to digest and deal with. Have you been reading your Psalms? |

My bil is still evicting me on September 1st. I asked my case manager if they have found a place for me to live. She said she will talk to me next week about it. She knew I had to many things on my mind this week. Mari I didn't know that you had a stroke also. How long ago? Bobby When did you have a stroke? I'm sorry that you and Mary had strokes also. I'm still concerned about my kidneys. I don't know how they are doing. I couldn't see my specialist because I was in the hospital with the stroke. I've never had these many problems before at one time. BF:hug::hug::hug: |

I just read some verses in the psalm. The Lord is the strength of my life. There is a church song, a hymn, "Because he lives, I can face tomorrow" BF:hug::hug::hug: |
I had a stroke about three years ago.. It screwed up my short term memory so I think it was three years ago. Now I have trouble with spelling and math and I used to be great at those. My balance is is off now so I
have a very hard time using my digital scale and I can't stand in one place for long. It really affected my right leg and right hand. Now my handwriting is almost illegible and I need a cane because my right leg is weak and I can only walk two blocks. I had physical therapy and the woman had me do an exercise that now gives me lower back pain. The stroke must have happened when I was asleep. I had two operations. In one they tried to put in a stent in my caratoid artery but it was 99.9 clogged so they couldn't do it. The next week they operated again and cut open the artery and cleared it out. The scar still itches. I could have been paralyzed . I thank God for everything. |
