Shingles Vaccine
My doctor wants me to get the shingles vaccine (Shingrix). Even though I had shingles years ago I still had the Zostavax in 2010. I've had PIN for the past 20 years and now I'm wondering if the new vaccine might have adverse effects with Neuropathy. The PIN has progressed over the years, and I really don't want to make it worse, and yet I don't want shingles again! Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this vaccine. TIA :grouphug:

Personally I do NOT take vaccines. Any kind unless for life saving reasons. I did a tetnus shot about 20 yrs ago..I'm 81 and have been supplementing with just about everything to keep my Immune System strong. I had chicken pox as a kid and never had shingles.
Prevent & Treat Shingles Naturally ** And in my life I've taken Grape Seed Extract for 25 yrs soon and this powerful antioxidant contains anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. I've posted mega info here on Grape Seed Extract...could be major factor for no shingles in my life. c |

Another PubMed search, "shingles Vitamin B12" provides, at best, very limited evidence that Vitamin B12 is of any use. |
Hi,
I had the Zostavax vaccine around 2010 too. I haven't had shingles but understand it can be very painful and serious, even affecting vision at times. So I've discussed getting the newer Shingrix vaccine with my doctor. It needs to be given in two doses and can have fairly severe side effects. I've postponed getting the Shingrix because of the side effects but I have MS and want to avoid anything that might cause a fever. Ordinary routine flu shots every year sometimes are a problem for me, and my doctor pointed out that the Zostavax is already providing me with some protection. She'd like to have me get the newer vaccine though. I'm sorry I don't know if peripheral neuropathy will be made worse by getting the Shingrix vaccine. |

Neuropathy is a disease of the peripheral nerves which causes burning zaps of pain in my legs and feet. It's getting worse as I'm getting older. Like MS, there is no cure. Any kind of surgery or even some types of shots will exacerbate the burning pain sensations. After reading your post, I have decided not to have the shingles vaccine. I've already had shingles years ago plus the Zostavax vaccine twice, the last one being in 2010. I was only 30 when I contracted shingles fifty years ago. The dermatologist smiled and told me I had the disease of an elderly person. He gave me a shot and told me the little blisters would turn black within a week then disappear, and I would never have shingles again. That's exactly what happened so I think I'll just believe what he said and forego the Shingrix vaccine. I only wish I knew what he gave me. I was too young then to even think I would ever be an elderly person! :ROTFLMAO: I'm sorry for what you're going through with MS, and I pray you have more good days than not. |
Hi Rosie33,
Apparently it's very rare for shingles to show up more than once in a person but it has happened, unfortunately, at least according to this: Recurrent Shingles, Vaccine,Pprevention, Treatment Your chances of having shingles a second time seem pretty low. |
I've had both doses of the Shingrix vaccine in the past few months. Each time my arm became fairly uncomfortable for a day or two, but nothing that interfered with my usual life. I certainly would not fail to do it again.

I wouldn't mind just a sore arm. The flu shot does that to me every year. Sometimes the sore arm lasts a couple of weeks.
Still I'm holding off on Shingrix and taking my chances. |

I get No vaccines as I trust myself and what I do vs pumping those toxins in my body that are in the vaccine mixes. Mercury, Formaldehyde, and others that are not coming to my mind now.
|
Can you provide a specific example of any approved modern vaccine which contains a toxin?

I had posted this same question a year or so ago, when i also was wondering what to do. I have very slowly progressing PN, worrisome but not life changing, yet.
I did as much research as possible, finding little in definitive answers. I asked my neurologist; he had nothing. I didn't get much from my post herein. I had the Zostrex vaccine years ago. What with the horror stories I hear about PN in others, I'm choosing to cross fingers and live healthy, like that may work. I suspect I'll have plenty enough antibiotics and vaccines in my future to create havoc with my nervous system. Today I'll choose not to mess with this one. Just my humble reflection. |

Prozac Dangers On the Prozac issue I was going thru a depression and was given so many anti depression drugs and the first one was Prozac and that was very early 90's when it hit the U.S. market. It did NOTHING for me. Good thing as I got off it. The issue causing the depression was a sluggish thyroid which for 10 yrs docs did not find t his to be true. It took a D.O. I was seeing for my back to come up with the answer, no labs nothing, just a theraputic dose and the rest is history...depression lifted in 4 days..oh how I remember that time in my life. This is just a minute experience in my life, actually a big experience. |
Prozac contains three fluorine atoms. The fluorine atoms in organic compounds like Prozac are chemically inert compared to fluoride anions which can be chemically reactive.
|
It contains FLUORIDES, plain and simple. And what about the FLUORIDES in the cipro, levaquin drugs and all the damage reported from that class of fluorides. My daughter has two damaged feet from taking Cipro years ago as she did NOT KNOW the damage that could happen. She trusted docs and their drugs. Today she lives with these deformed feet but thanks to the HGH she can go on and not live with the pain she had for years. Little did she know the HGH would reduce the pain in her damaged feet.
Amazing how so much people think all these chemicals are good for us. |
Just bumping up the original post to return this thread to the topic, which is Shingles Vaccine.....

Rosie33, if you haven't already looked at the Drugs.com information on Shingrix, here is their list of known side effects, and I don't see any mention of peripheral neuropathy as a side effect:

If you look at the list of adverse effects, there's nothing there that sounds like it might be a neuropathy symptom or sign. But there could be side effects that aren't listed--maybe because they were too rare to make the list.

Just talking to my neighbor who is 93 and she is into 1 yr of side effects from the Shringix vaccine, and her nasty every day symptoms are nausea and headaches, and I said are you certain it's from the vaccine and she says YES. What keeps her sane and in less misery is daily dose of Oscilliccocum (oscillo) as she says it helps her.
And now she is telling me, they have found an aoritic issue, she knew it was there but couldn't get to the docs she wanted...so now she is going to call the acupuncturist she has seen for other issues over the years and ask if he can do his "magic" on the heart area. Now she is thinking NO toward the covid vac, as she was on the fence. I do not do vaccines... |
Oscilliccocum is usually spelled Oscilloccinum. **
