Hi, Derrick and I were away at what they call ALU for special olympics
we had a great time. We had a group of 4 athlete's and 4 mentors
in our group and then some butler students. Which was really nice.

It was also nice that some of the Butler students helped Derrick with
some of his writing. So it wasn't always mom doing it all. He also was
in the final group for a prestigious award this afternoon, but didn't
win it. But it was the honor of being in the group that counted.

It was a great weekend.

By the way if you get Mammograms' please make your appointment
and get yours. I don't get any now. But it is a lifesaver to get them.

I go every year.

At your age it honestly wont probably matter. I hadn't had one and was
putting it off for as long as I could. Just finally decided one day it was time
when my nurse practioneer asked if I had one yet. Had told her no. She said,
I should have had one, I think it was 5 years before. But I had one that
year and had a biopsy that year too. Then a couple of good mammograms.
Then never for a few years a good one. Then one more. Then none again.

So now I don't get them because I have no boobs to get one on.

We signed the new paperwork for Job Coach today with O'Charleys today.
They like her and she is an old friend of mine and Derrick's it will be
much better.

Derrick was being his usual self tonight at work. And one of the servers
wasn't doing her job. He was the runner which means he takes out the
meat and things like that. He took the meat to a table, and they informed
him that they still hadn't gotten their salads, so he asked her I guess if
she wanted him to get them for her. He said, it wasn't the only time,
he was doing lots of her salads and rolls. And even filling drinks for
her. Which he will do anything anyone needs.

But this one table, gave him a $10 dollar bill, which he tried to tell them
no. Because it wasn't his job or supposed to be given. But they wouldn't
listen. I'm guessing later he would have given her at least half is she hadn't
said anything. But not sure exactly what all she said.

But he, said, she said, if you want to do my job go ahead and take my job or
tables and do it. It had to be more. Because he got really upset.

But also one of his really good friends. Told her that she could get O'charleys
sued for what she said, and that something to do with disabilities too.

And he was so upset that he went to take a small break but couldn't calm
down so asked to leave for the night. And went to Barnes and Nobles and
called me on the way. And since my phone wasn't hearing well he texted
and told me were to pick him up.

He said, the manager back with him. Said the main manager would
be talking to her tonight and would take care of it. And that he wasn't sure
if she would even have a job after that.

I'll post whatever happens tomorrow. But something is. Because I
went in to check and see what kind of shifts are open this next week.

He really likes to work 4 shifts a week, so I was seeing if he could get
another one next week. Its not looking good.

But he is still there as far as I know tonight. And he knows I would want
to know different. Because I was worried when he left. But he clocked
in and then 2 minutes later out. I don't know why.

I do know the days he trains for the kitchen to cook so far its not in his schedule
and its not in how he is being paid. I trust her to get it fixed at some point.

But I'm hoping that is all that has happened. That for some reason they
are short a cook or prep cook tonight, and took him and put him there.

I forgot to tell you they really missed him last weekend, nothing got done
in the prep for this week, or this weekend. So he was working on it on Tuesday
because to go was slow. And I guess they have a board to tell others they
are doing good. When he was gone last weekend, one of the employees said,
they should just change the name to the Derrick board.

Also forgot my oldest turned 41 yesterday. My husband Dale is taking
him to dinner tonight for his birthday. They asked me to go. But
I wanted to be available incase something happened tonight and I
was needed to pick up Derrick again.

And I know their favorite together place is chinese and I don't like
that kind of food. So when I go we go somewhere else.

Because he had trouble Friday night. Derrick's new job coach went in
to check up on him and eat last night. Her remarks to me. He was
the food runner, and he is good. And my husband said, he is so nice
and kind. Her husband has known him for a few years too. But didn't
know he is one of her clients now.

The manager told her that she had talked to him when he came in. And
things were fine. Derrick told me when he came home. That she told
him, that she told the girl that if it happened again because every one
loves Derrick she probably wouldn't have a job. And that she would need
to apologize. I guess until she did not to many in the staff were talking to
her either. But they also give her the job of running food to the parties in
a special section. And she decided running food wasn't easy.

Derrick wasn't running food in her area at all last night. And wont till
next weekend at all.

I didn't get back in on either Sunday or Monday. But its been a interesting
thing with what happened to Derrick. I guess on Sunday the big boss
of Derrick's new Job Coach program came in to make sure she thought
he and the girl that give him problems could work together. Derrick
learned about this from one of the Manager's who didn't realize this was
the big boss for his agency now. He after explaining everything, wanted
to know when Derrick's new agency would be in. Later Derrick told
him he had technically that day meet the big boss.

He said, Oh its that nice Pat, I guess he wanted to invite her agency to take
the new job coach training O'charleys has set up for the old agency. Her's technically has a pass.

But also the old company's big boss was in at the same time. I guess she
sat at the same table when she found her there. Because they were sitting
her in the same area. With same server. She didn't know why she was
being seated in that area till later that night. But she did get questioned
about how she let her company get black listed.

Any way, after it was all over, she came back that night. And Derrick was
working. And the main manager explained why they had been seated in
that specific area. And what had happened. And told her, the first training,
or test she was going to have, was going to be this girl. And so she had been
sat in her section so she would know what she was up for.

Any way, I guess Derrick has also gotten lots of messages from other staff
that they don't want him to leave O'charleys. Because the manager told
them they needed to let him know. She is so good to him.

The bartender who is his real good friend, had gone right out and let her
know what had happened. And she had talked to the girl, and then sent
her home for the night. And had tried to go talk to Derrick and found he
went home.

I'm so glad he works for such a great place.

I am a bit confused but that is ok.
I don't need to know the specifics, I just know that
they are very happy with his performance.
That is all I need to know.

See this is the one thing that helps me the most is to be able to really
talk about what is happenign.

Thanks ladies.

I will. Derrick, has been with his provider for 5 years now. And tonight we
went to an awards program. He got a really nice plaque that he didn't
know he was getting. Saw some friends get some special awards.

And even though his old not good job coach got a award for employee
of the year. The job coach person in charge of the area, told him
it wasn't her idea. And she didn't agree with it.

This lady got them all in trouble and kicked out of the restaurants around
the mall. So they are being given a chance to get back in by earning the
chance by taking classes at the restaurants to get back in.

O'charleys started and Texas Roadhouse, has let them know two of the
job coaches can start back there when they finish the start of the program.

Which they are happy to start. So much so that , the one is letting one
that is almost ready finish his training, so he can go for his workers.

My dog Jake hasn't been doing well. So I brought him out to my house
to see if he does better here. For a while. So far he seems to be doing
better. He will still I'm sure have a few bad days and seizures some.
But I will need to go back and forth some to help Derrick and my husband
will be here all the time to help Jake, or Dan can help him.

So I'm going to leave him here were its quieter and let him rest and see
if he starts doing better. Then hopefully after a while I will be back more
here than there.


I learned last week right before Derrick went to work on Friday night,
that the girl that caused all the problems, had been fired we still don't know
why but she isn't there anymore.

He was given to me by Kortni and Dan, and her son. The year before
Harmony was born. So I've had him 7 years at xmas time, because I
got him in December right after christmas. And he was right around
I'm pretty sure over 7 to 8 years old at least. We have never known for
sure how many years. But i"m guessing he is 16 years old right now.

He is doing really good right now. And I'm honestly happy about it.
I know if I'm not exactly hear all the time, he will get good care. WIth
my husband, and Dan. And I'll be around too. He seems to be thriving
right now.

Sorry, don't seem to have updated in a while. So Derrick dressed up for
Halloween on Saturday at O'Charleys he looked great. Had a double shift.

Anyway needed me to pick him up, got there on time. And they had
two buses of kids coming in at almost closing for dinner. It was so
interesting.

I'm back out at my house today. And Jake is getting around really good still.
Its nice seeing him get around good.

Anyway just life it seems.

As Dale says, he seems to love to hide. Sometimes its a while before
we can find him. ITs so funny when we look for him.

But that is the way he likes it. Derrick has a migraine today, and is
trying to rest. Poor kid we keep bothering him trying work out his
medicine that wasn't ready yesterday. That is being delivered tomorrow.

Derrick is feeling better today. And at work tonight. He didn't go
to cooking class this morning. Because he wanted to make sure
he felt like going to work. As far as I know his medicine arrived
at his house. He would have told me if it hadn't so I'm sure it
did.

Me too, I came into town today. And took him bowling. His tournament
is next weekend. So it was good they were practicing today. He really
doesn't like to have to practice by himself.

So he did pretty good. My granddaughter and Kortni aren't feeling very
good they both are having ear problems. Which is normal it seems for
them.

Yes, he did and did pretty good too. I'm looking forward to getting to spend
the weekend with him. It has been a while since we have gotten to spend
Saturday and Sunday together.
