Doug is so Dispondant
 

I just went over to Doug's not long ago and he really looked like he lost his best friend. I've never seen him look so down and out. The new nursing asst. was sitting on her butt reading a magazine when there were things that needed to be done. I made a few calls and have the state board of nursing to return my call and I'm going to make a complaint big time. I'm going to tell it all and I ain't holding back. Them no good nurses don't do their job and when Doug complains it does no good at all. As soon as my eyes redness and puffiness go away I'm going back to Doug's place to gather up as much evidence as I can for this new particular nurse's asst.

My mom has a BAYADA nurse, she is great, and it is covered my medicare.

Is it written out anywhere what the nurses duties are?
does hospice visit him?

When my bil was in the hospital for 8 days {a fast cancer} and they didn't do much at all for him there - just meds and check 1x a day.
- but that might have been because family was there to feed, help him to the restroom and care for him. we rotated with day/nite shifts.

then when we took him home when drs said no tx was going to help {his wishes} hospice came to get info and set up a schedule for visits - but he died in the early morning so they weren't needed.

just wondering about that.

There are check off lists sheets for the home health care nurses to do and they check that they do it when in reality they don't. With the kind of shape that Doug seems to be in now though I think it would be best if I didn't cause a stink with his nurses. I'd rather do the stuff myself that they don't do as with Doug not eating and now using sterophone sp? cups to drink out of there's not much to do. Doug's roommate usually eats with neighbors. I also do not feel up to a fight with these people. I will on ocassion see to it that the home health nurse does some things of course in a nice way of course.

Is hospice coming out to see him yet? I hope you don't take on too much again BF. Hang in there, you did the right thing for you. :)

Thank you for the support and understanding. However concerning Doug, I found that not to be the issue but instead the tensions and stress from the meeting at Goodwill last week that had broke me. It is true that it hurts to see people walk all over Doug but it wasn't the real issue, it was both the stress of the meeting at Goodwill and that agitating me and then the injustices done to Doug that had me so broken. Once I told my Rehab. counselor I had no intention of going back to Goodwill I felt a great weight lifted off of my shoulders once again and had a real good day today. I have however, started to spend more time with me and doing other things even for the past couple of weeks and less time with Doug that I have been looking after me 1st. It's just that with all the harrassment from Goodwill and the meeting being the straw that broke he camel's back concerning me it was too much on me. I have moved on with being aggravated with the injustices done to Doug as time has passed now. I need Doug at the moment as much as he needs me.

I will be going to a hospice crafts class tomorrow and starting a computer class in MS without credit at a real college. I just found out this evening that I got the grant that I needed for the class. So you see, I have been working on things for me for awhile and now just getting results. I had gone to my scrabble club games about 10 days ago. This Friday I believe it is I'll be going to a Christian social if it doesn't rain which come to think now I believe it will. I could ride the van though which is a possibillity.

Life is getting sweet again.

I just got home from Doug's and he's having a real hard time breathing. The home health nurse could not even set up Doug's oxygen for him because she didn't know how and didn't want to break it. I had to do it. She pulled the bed side table too hard and the breathing treatment machine hit Doug in the head. She couldn't find his medicine and I had to get it. Talk about incompetent. Anyway, I'm waiting on my cousin now to take me to my hospice crafts class in a half an hour. Then we will go out to eat. Please pray for Doug.

That's just insane! Hit him in the head with a breathing machine? Those are heavy! Poor Doug. I definitely have him and you both in my prayers BF. :(

when you say nurse you mean the Home health aide right? sometimes they are CNA, certified nursing assistants.
They are not nurses they are aides, they would not know anything about the breathing treatment machine nor are they supposed to handle medications.
It is very hard to find good aides in the health care field unfortunately.
My in-laws have them to care for my hubbys father who is bed bound...they are there 20 minutes 3 times a week....
my mother-in-law is an angel...I don't know how she is able to care for this 250 pound man.
