Omg No

My sister is being tested for MS :Bawling:

She has ON and has had a Brain MRI and the doctor is talking about a LP. I don't want her to have MS. She just can't have MS :Noooo: :Noooo: :Noooo:

I am the only one in my family that I'm aware of who has MS.......I just never saw this coming. I never, ever wanted to see a loved one end up having this disease.

Curious 09-12-2007 07:18 AM

:hug::hug::hug::hug:

:(

snoopy what sx has she been having?

i'm praying for your sister and you.

cricket52 09-12-2007 10:34 AM

Oh dear Snoopy - I'm so sorry.

She has you to lean on and she will benefit from your knowledge.

Scary time though.

lady_express_44 09-12-2007 11:24 AM

Sorry to hear, Snoopy.

My sister was tested for MS too, and in the end was dx with Syringomyelia. It was odd because that is usually accompanied by Chiari, but she doesn't apparently have that.

MS is cruel, but not the worst one out there. You've had a (relatively) good go of the disease, over many years, so hopefully she will be the same (if it pans out that way).

Good luck to sis!

Cherie

SallyC 09-12-2007 12:29 PM

Oh Snoopy..Nooooooooo!! I'm so sorry, but I'm glad she has you for a Sister.

I'll never forget the day my Daughter was also DX with MS.:(:(:(..Now she worries about her Kids for the future, too.

I had a mild course for many years, before having to depend on a scooter and walker.....not until I was 63, and Julie is having the same mild course for now. She is on LDN only. get your Sister some....can't hurt!!

Sending Hugs to You and Sis.:hug:

Taffy 09-12-2007 04:37 PM

Hoping that she is ok and if she has MS, well she has you to lean on and you two will have all of us!

What a sweet thing to say...

tovaxin_lab_rat 09-12-2007 07:10 PM

Oh LeeAnn, I hope it turns out to be nothing. But like Taffy said, she has you to lean on and all of us! Big hugs to both of you.

DM 09-12-2007 07:33 PM

Sorry to hear your Sis is having trouble and sx's, Leeanne! Keep us posted and I sure will be keeping you both in my prayers. Like Taffy said, you have each other and a whole bunch of buddies here....:grouphug:

AfterMyNap 09-12-2007 08:27 PM

Oh crap. LA, that is one of my worst fears, a sib or a friend. It already happened to one of my friends. Why must this go on?

Judy2 09-13-2007 03:47 AM

:( NUTZ!!!!!!! I'm so sorry LA, but as others have said, she has a great sister to lean on along with all of us. I'll be praying for both of you.

greta 09-13-2007 03:34 PM

Leann-

That sucketh! The only good thing is that she doesn't have to go through this alone and she's got an awesome person to look to in how to handle this disease. You've done great for so many years. I truly hope that she doesn't have it and that she can stay on the CIS side of the MS spectrum. I'll keep my fingers crossed for her.

MSacorn 09-13-2007 07:57 PM

So sorry Snoops :(
Looks like everybody's covered the bases, so I will offer my prayers and good thoughts for your sister and you. And she has you, that is a very good thing.

ewizabeth 09-13-2007 09:10 PM

Snoopy,

I'll keep your sis in my thoughts and prayers. I agree with everybody that said she is lucky to have you on her side, and hopefully, if she does have it, it will be a milder case.

Snoopy 09-23-2007 02:54 AM

Thank you so much everyone

My sister is doing better, her ON has resolved on it's own. She goes back to the eye doctor (not sure what kind she is seeing) and then to the neuro in Oct.

Sorry it took awhile for me to respond I have been dealing with my own health issues. Not sure what's going on right now but I have had bloodwork and will go in for some testing Mon. and Tues......WooHoo :icon_rolleyes:

SallyC 09-23-2007 12:54 PM

Awww Snoopy...I'm sorry that you're feeling crappy..:(

I am glad to hear that your Sis is doing better and I hope her tests in Oct., are all negative for MS.

Why the bloodtests? Whatsamatta you?

Feel better, Hon..sending a big hug.

DM 09-23-2007 07:07 PM

Don't know whatsamatta that's why the bloodwork :D

Whatever it is going on doesn't seem to be MS related.

So, today is an ultrasound of the ovaries and tommorrow is.....well, I can't remember the name of the test but it's looking into the bladder with an endoscope.......oh what fun :icon_rolleyes:

MSacorn 09-24-2007 12:15 PM

Snoopy
So sorry for your health troubles, hope the problem is diagnosed and resolved quickly.

I'll be thinking about you. Please take care.

greta 09-24-2007 12:54 PM

Snoopy 09-26-2007 11:30 AM

Still waiting for any news with my sister, she doesn't see the neuro until Oct......I hate limbo......yes, I know it's probably worse for her *sigh* ;)

I'm doing good......still not feeling great but the bloodwork came back and no diabetes, thyroid fine and cholesterol is good.....no small feat considering I'm quite overweight.

The endocope to look at the bladder and urethrea came back good.....WooHoo!!!!

I am now waithing on the pelvic ultrsound results........I'm guessing that will be the one with the answers. I was dx'd with Poly Cycstic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) many years ago and even my PCP suspects the PCOS will be the problem.

putterfit 09-26-2007 12:02 PM

Snoopy,

Sorry to hear about your sister it was good to hear that ON stopped on its own now I will keep all good thoughts and prayers for her.

Also it sounds as it you are doing a little better but still waiting on a few more test and I hope that you will get a good and positive answer.

tovaxin_lab_rat 09-26-2007 07:04 PM

Hey Snoops,

thinking about you and hoping things are going ok. Been where you are a few years back. I had cervical cancer and then had to have my right ovary removed 11 years later. Life just gets more and more fun!

Thanks Cheryl.

My mother had cervical cancer many years ago so I am usually very good about going in for years check-ups but I have not had a pap since 2005.....I know, bad, bad, bad.

My PCP did an exam pap included but he know and I know it will come back abnormal......I was loaded with yeast at the time (sorry if this is tmi)

The PCOS does not necessarily mean cancer and can be treated with Diabetes medication and/or birth control. So, I wait until the ultrsound results get to my doctor.......then see what happens.

AfterMyNap 09-27-2007 11:12 AM

Well, so far the news is pretty good, LA, I hope it's something that can be treated without surgery.:(

I'm glad you're feeling a little better, please take good care of yourself, girlie.

Yep! I agree.....so far the news is good. When the bloodwork and the endoscope came back good I felt the tension drain out of me and calm settle in.

If in the end I need surgery it's alright.....there are so many things worse that could have come out of this. But I'm still waiting on the ultrasound result......I am not a patient person :p

You sound like me! Why does it take so long? Huh huh huh!

Take care of yourself Missy.

sassy 10-10-2007 06:12 AM

Sorry Snoop to hear about your sis. I hope her news is good news.

And sorry to hear you are feeling not quite up to snuff. Hope you get good news too.

Hang in there....by your toenails.

putterfit 10-11-2007 10:07 AM

How are you doing?

How is your sister?

Hi Mike

I haven't heard from my sister and I don't know when her appointment is so I'm just waiting.

I'm about the same and my doctor thinks I should be back on ADs......I guess that's the answer when you have pain and the reason can't be found. I'm getting referred to a GYN and set up for a sleep study.

SallyC 10-13-2007 11:16 AM

Hi Snoops. :) I'm sorry you are still having sleeping trouble. I hate that!

I would probably just fold up my tent a die, if it wasn't for my AD. I never had depression or anxiety (panic attacks) before MS, so know it's the cause. I'm on Prozac now...not as good as Paxil but still better than nothing.

Please drop everything and feel better, RIGHT NOW! :D I insist. Sending lots of love and hugs your way.

putterfit 10-14-2007 08:42 AM

Snoopy,

We all know sitting around waiting is hard when we want answers so I hope that you hear some good news from your sister soon.

Hopefully the sleep study will give you some answers as well.

Mike
