Seems that I have more test again

Pulmonist nurse called today, hmmm, well I'll do what they think till they
are done. But I just find this so odd. But he is doing a Oxygen check
while I sleep, this might be causing the shortness in breath and tiredness
during the day.

Then of course I'm doing the tilt test its scheduled for September 27th.

I have heard of sleep study tests where you go to a lab and be monitored to see if you have sleep apnea...or other related sleep disturbance...some times people have to wear a cpap device to sleep and then they sleep really well.
I wonder if this is what you are going to do?
at least they decided to try something!
hang in there....it all sounds frustrating.

Dear Donna,
It sounds like you are being kept busy.

Maybe you will find good news -- things that the docs understand and can fix.

Mari

Dmom3005 09-14-2007 06:08 AM

Yep, I find it so odd, but I knew this particular doctor has this test available.

I know that its one that they do for oxygen levels. And it makes sense to a degree to me. I don't believe that I want to do the sleep apnea test, because I don't think it would show a problem with what they need to get
the area that I need help with. I've been trying to get my Husband to go to a doctor to get that particular test done. I personally feel he needs one.

But then when I started wearing the support hose and the only sleeping problems I had went away. I am not sure part of his problem isn't a lot
like mine was. So I am not sure he doesn't need something in his shoes
for his feet. His aren't swelling but they hurt all the time from walking
on them at his job.

I am personally kind of glad he found another test to do. I was dreading
going to the allergist and asthma doctor to tell him, that the pulmonist still
has no clues. And has pretty much dismissed me. I guess he didn't.

He just was so busy and I think he waits and reviews everything and then comes up with ideas. I should have remembered last time, all the test came
after I'd been home a day or two.

Your Doctor sounds very good, he is covering every angle.

Hopefully, this will put your mind at ease some.

Wishing you good news and results.

Okay the test on Thursday night came out fine.

I got a call this morning and I'm to lower my veraplem
from 240mg to 120mg.

And I am to not go to PT for a couple of visits.

But then in the next breath she said they were going to
call me too, at my therapy.

Well gosh so do I wait and see if they call or do I just
not go now. I am having problems with my legs.

And was hoping my order for my feet and legs to get there
special help had finally arrived.

Donna

bizi 09-17-2007 10:15 AM

glad that your test came back ok on thursday.
Hope that the lowering of your blood pressure med will help as well.
I hope you have a good day.

Could use some ideas. I hate salt, but have been ordered to eat more salt.

So any ideas. I've been making myself buy a salted pretzel when I'm in town.

I love the pretzels but hate the salt on them. So usually don't get the
salt, but have decided this is a treat I can do.

But still hate the salt, but eat it. But I can't handle the french fries with
the salt they put on it. So I always hope I can add my own salt instead,
so I usually hope they don't salt.

But I don't usually seem to put enough salt. But I'm trying.

Anyother foods I can try.

Donna, what about using saltine crackers in soups?

Curious 09-17-2007 08:35 PM

donna...how much extra salt do you need per day?

i am not a salty food eater very often. so feel for you.

what about buying the empty gel caps and filling them with salt? you would get a measured amount and not have to taste it.

bizi 09-17-2007 09:36 PM

V-8 juice has a ton of salt in it...how much salt are you supposed to take?
Chicken boullion cubes or chicken broth, pickles and olives,
Paul newmans low fat balsalmic vinagrette salad dressing has alot of salt in it.
I got hyponatrimic(low sodium) when I was taking trileptal as a mood stabilzer...is this new for you????just recently?

Hi,
I hope that the med change and further tests work out for you.

More stuff high in salt: cheese including cottage cheese, canned soup, canned tuna and anything else canned.

Mari

Dmom3005 09-18-2007 09:57 PM

Thanks I hadn't thought of it as looking at the cans of food.

I was thinking I had to add salt to the food. Okay I have another way
to look at this. Thanks folks for the ideas.

Its because its supposed to help the blood pressure. I'm hoping it does.
So far I'm still having real issues with my problem, so much so I'm kind of
afraid to be driving. Which is not me.

So I'm being very careful and trying to make all my trips at once. But its
scarey I'm to go to Indy twice in teh next couple of weeks and its scaring
the heck out of me.

Once is for work, so I'm trying to figure out if I can get to the place they chose without going through town, it might be possible.

The other time though is to Riley Children's Hospital and this one is really scaring me.

Mari 09-18-2007 11:48 PM

Hi,
I'm sending prayers that you will have angels with you when you drive.
M.

bizi 09-19-2007 09:16 AM

I drive a small honda insight and Big highways scare me with the semi's....
I-465 takes you around indy, I65 north and south I70 east and west.
If you give yourself some extra time that should help and you won't feel so rushed.
bizi

Dmom3005 09-19-2007 10:08 AM

Yes, I already drive I-65 all the time, because thats how I come to RIley.

But its really something that bugs me. I'm just really watching myself.

I know that I didn't used to have this problem, so its really bothering me.

It even bothers me to drive just in Lafayette at some times. So when
I do have that problem I just get off the road and go window shopping
till I feel its okay again.

I always allow myself extra time. I just know that I've got one day
I wont have the extra time. I'm just going to have to let the supervisor
in charge that day, know that for unforseen reason, I'm possibly going
to be late.

Its not going to be something that I'm going to let her or my own supervisor
nag me about either.

Donna

Pamster 09-19-2007 01:06 PM

I wish you luck with the drive, I hate driving long distances and we take the medical transport because it's just too much on us to drive it. We are lucky we can take it, I know some places might not offer medicaid transportation. I hope that the lessened dose of the blood pressure medicine starts to help you soon Donna, I am keeping you in my prayers. :)

Dmom3005 09-19-2007 05:30 PM

We don't have medicaid. We have my husbands insurance.

But with that we are usually lucky. Other than right now I've already
paid out over $2,000 for me, and !200 for Derrick this year. Its a expensive
thing, but so good to have insurance. Thats my share.

Donna

bizi 09-19-2007 07:39 PM

Thank God for insurance!

Hi,

I had to increase my salt intake as well. Low blood pressure but also related to low adrenals.

The doc actually gave me salt tablets which i swallowed like a pill. Easy and you can get them over the internet. They are called thermotabs from www.numarklabs.com

But I found I liked sea salt better so I would inthe morning mix a 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt in my water or ice tea and drink it down. Not as bad tasting as regluar salt. Plus the sea salt has other trace minerals in it.

Hope that helps.

Pamster 09-21-2007 09:17 PM

I hope things are better tomorrow for you Donna, hang in there, it's got to get better soon. :)

Hubby and I met in Indy and moved to bloomington for grad school, he has since finished his doctorate in music. I still have a sister in bloomington and another sister who lives in Greenwood (my twin who is in my picture avatar)..... I grew up in south bend.
So yes I am definately a hoosier!:D
We have now lived in Lafayette, louisiana for almost 7 years which is amazing to me how time flys by.

I miss sweet corn and tomatos.....
and the changing colors of leaves in the fall...and apple cobbler in brown county at the hob nob cafe....

Sea Salt is great, I love using it for cooking.

I have very low blood pressure, but I also use salt on everything.

I think the canned items are a good thing to check out too.

Good Luck........

Hugs, Nikko:hug:

Dmom3005 09-23-2007 10:17 AM

Thanks Everyone

I'm just me today. No plans, and that is good. I've not been up long
and I am supposed to have my hose on. But I refuse to put them
on today. I just decided that I need a break today.

They are cutting the circulation off in one location of my leg and its
really getting bad. And since I'm not going anywhere and its possible
that I might just sleep and rest all day. Then the doctor will just
have to okay it today.

I need the break. Besides they need to be cleaned again today. And
I'm getting ready to do that this afternoon.

I didn't have time last night.

Donna

bizi 09-23-2007 01:59 PM

Yes it is good to have a day of rest!
Hope your leg enjoys the break from your hose.
