What's Everybody Doing??

I've had a pretty nice weekend, so far.:) Yesterday I did a little laundry and a little cleaning and it didn't wipe me out, like it usually does.:p

Today, I got up early and onto my feet..surprise, surprise..:D I love my LDN!!! My DD came over with my groceries,, but just one grandchild, the 2 yr old johnny, 'cause the rest of them are all still sick...bahhhhh..... poor babies. :( Papa Bear is sick too and DD is still not 100%. this damn germ just keeps circling around.

My Best friend's Nephew is in the hospital with a recurring brain tumour. He is on chemo He is only 40 and has been fighting this cancer for 10 years:eek:.... a small prayer would be so appreciated.....thanks.

Ok, so Cindy's traveling and having a ball..what are the rest of you doing this weekend? Anything I wish I could be doing?

Love and Hugs for All..:grouphug:

Hi Sally, glad you are doing well and having some fun.

I am freezing the peaches I picked off my poor dying tree yesterday. I got enough to make 2 pies later this winter. Also getting some meals prepped for H's upcoming hunting trip. I refuse to go and be the camp cook anymore so I send food. That way his mom doesn't have to do all the cooking.

Still reeling from the tragedy of a good friend who was killed on Friday at the Reno Air Races. Just numb right now. Say a prayer for his family.

When we first moved into this house, we had two peach trees in full bloom, in the back yard. I quickly picked all the ones that weren't munched on by the squirrels, and made peach cobbler. My DH thought he had already died and gone to heaven, when he awoke to the aroma from the oven.:D

I hope your Hubby enjoys his trip and you enjoy the alone time, without having to cook.:)

I am so so sorry about the tragic death of your Friend.:( My heartfelf condolences to you and, of course, an extra prayer for his Family...How sad.

BTW, How is Holly doing? Better, I hope.

greta 09-16-2007 08:17 PM

Cheryl-I'm so sorry about your friend. I'm guessing that the acrobatic community is pretty small. Jim said that we had the airshow here at Oceana last week and the Geico plane crashed while he was playing golf! Scary stuff.

I had a pretty darn good weekend. I did some housestuff, but I was also amazingly social and did some fun stuff (usually I forgo fun stuff in favor of needs to do...)

I had another boarder drop off, so I now have 4 greyhounds and my pug here. Lots of love and anything I drop on the floor is immediately cleaned up! :) On Sat I went kayaking with a friend and on Sun I went biking with a couple of friends and DH. Then came home and cooked a fabulous dinner. I'm about ready to head upstairs. I didn't do any of the work I was supposed to, but I'll try to catch up by getting up early tomorrow morning. ;)

Isn't this weather just the best! I feel like going outside and doing some weeding! Long ago we put pavers out to the driveway and you can hardly see them for the over grown weeds. I started a thread about my little weekend trip to see the grandkids. If I can ever figure out how to do it, I will post some pictures. I now have a digital camera!!!!!!! My husband got it for his 35 year service award. You pick your own award from a catologue. I get the camera, he gets to keep the cash award!

So sorry about the air show crashes. I guess I don't have the guts to try to do something like that. You have to have such extreme confidence in yourself but you never know what your compitition is going to do.

Hi All! How refreshing it is to read that you all have been active this past wkend. :)
Sal: glad you felt well and did some good ole normal things. It's a good feeling, isn't it?? Sorry about your g'babies having a nasty bug; seems like a lot of that is going around. So sorry about your BF's nephew. I will say a prayer for him. What is his first name?

Cheryl" I love "alone" time. Don't get me wrong... DH is wonderful, but it's fun to just hang out and eat munchies once in a while w/a good OLD movie. Hope Holly is better...
Know you are heading into some Fall projects, so take care of yourself. I know you haven't been feeling like our FG. And, I'm so very sorry about the loss of your friend. It is so tragic... You know I'm thinking of you girl!

Gret: You know how I admire you and your animals. Being a dog lover myself, I love hearing about yours.. I know what you mean, when I drop anything, the older doxie scoops it up w/o even checking to see what it is first. Glad you had a good wkend. Kayaking? How cool is that???

Doydie" Glad you were out and enjoying the splendid weather. Seems we've all had a busy wkend. Just don't overdo on those weeds.... And, don't feel bad about posting pics. I haven't a clue how to do it either.

We actually had 2 outdoor cookouts this past wkend and the best part is that they were both catered, so DM didn't have to take one thing but her tired old body! Now that's my type of party! One was a retirement party for one of DH's coworkers. Good thing they had a big bonfire, as it got nippy Fri night. Sat night wasn't as cool, and the cookout for another group of friends was alot of fun. Sunday, I took DS home (an hr away) and did a little shopping. Amazingly, I'm still upright, but we are having a warm spurt and it's supposed to be 90 today.
Have a great week all.:grouphug: .

SallyC 09-22-2007 12:36 PM

This weekend is not as great as last weekend, but still good..:) I'm just being a bit of a lazybutt today.:p

I see Cin is still having fun in yellowstone, but hasn't seen Yogi Bear yet. Maybe if you start a fire, he'll show up and slap you silly. Be sure to take his picture between slaps..kay? You may need some Moose Drool to attract those Mooses ya know...ask Cheryl about that.:D

Speaking of which.....where is she....CHERYL....OH FG, come out come out wherever you are.. I miss you..

Seems like everyone is on the missing list! If you're all out there having fun without me, I'll be ******.

I hope I get to see my Grandkids tomorrow.. I'm ready to hug their germy little bodies.:)

Let's hear from you buzy little beavers.. I do hope you are all well.

:grouphug:

Hi Sally and All, :)

I love reading about everybody's day to day fun activities. I went outside for awhile today to tend to my flowers and plants. It was in the low 70's here so the heat didn't knock me out. I had about 30 minutes of sunshine.

We have hummingbirds this year, and I love them... They're so social, I got one fairly good pic, I'll post sometime.

I'm in two classes and we're at midterm (week 3) so it's really tough. I stopped in here for a breather. :grouphug:

We'll go to church then out to eat, then back home and I'll finish laundry while I do homework.

The windows are open and there's a lovely cool breeze.

I got Rocky some new toys on Thursday and he loves them. He had some catnip today so his day is fabulous. ;)

Cheryl,

I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend, I hope you'll feel better soon and find comfort in the memories of your friendship.

Tysabri seems to be helping me a bit (knock on wood) ... I'm going to count my blessings and hope it keeps me stable and maybe helps me to improve a bit.

Have a good weekend all!

MSacorn 09-22-2007 06:04 PM

Hi All

I had a lazy day today, just hung around my sister, Jill's, next door and put water in her pond, fed her fish. I had a phone conv w/my counselor in Denver. Gonna put a good-bye letter together and send to x-bf, the cell phone and house/car keys. Then I can start with whatever is around the corner.

Another sister, Geri, stopped over and mentioned I can use her teenagers car since she's on probation and can only go to school an see her PO with it. Just got to work the insurance details out. My dad would drive me up to the car and I'll have a bit of freedom, Yes!

On the crummy side, Jill got scammed by a Reverend of all people and he took her sign shop for $10grand. She may lose the business, I hope not. She's got 200 banners to sell to try to recoup her losses. Can you believe they say "With God All Things Are Possible". If anyone would like to help out by buying one, please PM me and I'll give the details.

Her insurance company is involved and we've been telling her this week to file a police report. She's reluctant because of embarrassment. It will be posted in the local newspaper, if she reports it. We've told her to be proactive and go to one of the local TV stations and have her story told. People/Churches would be interested in helping a local business by purchasing the banners. She'd like $50 each and they are usually $120, so it's a great deal. Anybody, agree or disagree. I really would like to help her out somehow.

She'd like to keep it quiet and have me write a letter to local churches with her story and ask them to buy a banner. For 200 responses she'd have to send like 2,000 letters. I'm not sure there are that many churches around.

Sunday we are all going to my 10-yr old nephews, football game, I heard he is the QB. Should be another beautiful day. Then it's football NFL style and chicken cooked on the grill, yum.

I hope everyone is out enjoying the last day of Summer 2007.

greta 09-22-2007 06:23 PM

Ewiz-
So happy that you think T is slowing you down! That's awesome. Looking forward to hearing more good reports from you.

Cherie 09-25-2007 06:05 PM

Weirdest weather in ages! It's late September on the seashore in NE and the temps are in the 80s. Nights not getting much below 70 and wayout of norm for this time of year. We should be having 40 degree nights and mid 60s in the day right now. I'm still running the widow A/C unit some days.

Having a ball in the high, west corner of the country here. I feel pretty okay but can feel a long rest coming in another week or two.

FG, how's the rabies treatin' ya' today? Bleah, I hate sinus infections. The first one I ever had was during college and it totally freaked me out; it felt like someone was trying to pull a football through my nose. I actually went to ER because it scared me so badly.

Wiz, you rock! How cool that the Ty is keeping you well enough to visit with your little foliage friends.:)

Sal, those little monkeys and their germs are the high point of your week and I think it's great!

Beth, have you settled back into OH life yet? Look up any old friends?

I can't say I'm settled. Calmer, for sure. Dad is feeding me, and treating me well. I haven't lived with him since I was 13 (30 yrs). He turned out pretty cool.

I still wake up in the morning wondering where I am. Not having a car is frustrating. I go next door to my sisters a couple times a day her pups are glad to see me, every time. It's like the first day I got back here. Dogs are such simple creatures. LOL

I did see an old friend yesterday, it was like no time had past. We will be keeping in touch.

AMN - Sure sound like your trip is winding down. Rest up.

Beth

How cool! I love hooking up with old friends (and new ones). It's great that you're getting to know your dad all over again. I've been doing the same for the last 7 years and I don't like him that much! LOL

Any more from the CO Cuss?

Sorry you relationship with your dad isn't teriffic. The strangest thing I found out is that my dad and I close up potato chip bags, and such, the same way. He said we never had them growing up, but we must have, how else would I know. Oh well, at least now he knows he's not opening chips up and not remembering. LOL

Not word one from xbf since the day after I arrived. I am glad. Although I wish him well, I sure spent along time being unhappy, nevermore. My new cell phone should be here Monday and I will pack his up with the house and car keys and send them packing back to CO, where they belong. I do miss the Rockies though :Sigh:

I'm looking forward to seeing more friends soon. It is so enjoyable. I also, once I get transportation, want to get back into darts. That is a giant positive from Denver, that I learned a sport that I love. Dad scowled at me when I asked him if we could put a dart board in the basement. I'll have to work on him more later. :D

doydie 09-29-2007 09:06 PM

Beautiful weather here. My husband trimmed bushes and some vines that are trying to cover our one remaining pine tree. It's so ugly, I'd like to have it taken down but I just can't imagine how much that would cost. It's in the very front of our property and has become huge. My husband started trimming branches so our naighboor could see to get out of her driveway. The more he trimmed, the more uneven it would get so he would trim more.

Monday starts our annual Fall Festval here. It is the nations second largest street festival, first being Mardi Grah. It's about 10 blocks long, food booths lining both sides of the street. Interspersed is kiddie rides then down further is adult carnival rides and then an entire city block perimiter and inside of boths of games of chance. You can get anything to eat from brain sandwiches, fried crickets, fried Twinkies, this year they have fried Milky Ways. It's from Monday to Saturday with Sunday being a free day for underprivelged kids. It's the main fundraiser for one of the areas philanthropic activites. Your cholesterol raises just by parking the car and smelling it.

Taffy 09-29-2007 09:43 PM

Yep....Nappy's trip must be coming to an end. I heard a report that she is running out of clean undies.

Jalee 09-30-2007 09:27 AM

It is still pretty hot on the west coast of Florida, so I've been staying inside in the cool AC.

Yesterday, we went to an art gallery/museum to see a painting exhibit by an artist whose wife just died. She had MS for a long time. I didn't really care for his work, but the other pieces in the show made up for the drive.
We walked around in the botanical garden for awhile, and it was just too much heat. Walking became a real issue until I cooled down in the truck.

Today, I'm relaxing so far. My abdomen is hurting and the spasticity in arms and legs are really bad. I may be lying in front of the TV all day.

Sounds like a good plan to me today, Jalee! Hopefully, one more day in bed and this cold with disappear!

Your day yesterday sounds great!

It's 51 degrees here, supposed to be 71 and partly cloudy. We've got a freeze warning and fall is definitely in the air! Finally!!!!
