Hi Mark! I'm so sorry you had to deal with this!! Seems like the young cashiers are so not"Cool" they don't need to work there(Most of them anyway) That was so down right rude of the little bi*&& to say this to you!! I believe that the lady behind you, was there by "NO ACCIDENT"! we need more ladies/men like that who will step up to the plate and help people in need. I hope this finds you doing much better, Mark! Love and God bless you and that lady from heaven! Love~, Desi

Vicc 09-16-2007 08:37 PM

What a truly wonderful story!!

There really are good people out there, and you got to meet one when it really mattered. I'm happy for you. Strokes suck, but sometimes they create opportunities for people to show real human decency.

As for the girl: Instant karma really does happen sometimes. Mazeltov!! Vic

Mark,

I am so glad that the clerk did not get away with being so horrible to you. We all have enough problems without having to deal with unnecessary stuff, ya know?

:Girl(angel-flying):Thank God that he had an angel there to assist you. :trampoline: :circlelove:

:Sorry: that you had to deal with a jerk like that but justice was served! Chalk up one for the good guys. :ROTFLMAO::ROTFLMAO:

Best regards my friend.

Thank you so much for sharing this!

Oh, I got so angry, then almost giddy right after when you told of the "good outcome".

I'm so glad for the ladies behind you. :) I'm so glad you feel validated. :)

I'm with Vicc in that I hope this girl at least might've learned a lesson in humanity and kindness.

hi mark,
So so sorry about your stoke and i greatly admire you going to the market and trying to keep going! but i have to say i have met some of the meanest and nosiest people in the market!! ... 'the stare-ers', 'the comment-ers', 'the question ask-ers'. it seems being disabled and/or using a cane and brace somehow is an open season sign for rudeness.
and yes that woman was an angel .... to you .... and a lesson teacher to those ignorant kids. God works in mysterious ways!! a good dose of validation can make you feel soooo good though!
fondly, Joan

Debby 09-16-2007 10:43 PM

Mark,
Hey, you had a guardian angel riding your shoulder didn't you at that exact moment.......... Then *gazooks* She materialized right behind you. There is such goodness out there, it just seems for the most part we so rarely get to experience at work, but you did.

The generation that that young girl who was so rude to you has got to be the RUDEST generation I have ever in my life witnessed so far. She found out just how far her rudensss took her didn't she??? It got her fired & she richly deserved exactly what happened to her. Altho she probably didn't think so. I sure wish I could have been there to see it go down.

You were very brave just to go out to the store. Not sure I would have been that brave if I were in the same set of circumstances. Bravo!!!

Mark,

A group hug for your bravery and sense of humour.---You are amazing so please don't ever let those mindless creatures bother you. The lady who helped you will have a free entry to heaven! The shop assistant??? well we don't care really:rolleyes:
I understand how it feels to have people stare--My kids will often comment with things like "Do you want to take a photo and take it home"? or " has my Mama got something on you'd like to borrow"?
It soon makes them turn away. I just wish they realised that once upon a time I was normal--just like them!
Love

Hey Mark,
I sure am sorry you had to join the stroke club. The left side of my face and body were affected. I'm with ya on how people look right at you. I drooled and my mouth just did not work the way it is supposed to. I had a hell of a time trying to speak. And I stumbled alot. It gets better as time goes on. I was in Costco when it got me. Deb says people just looked at me and kept going. Hope you improve everyday and keep that attitude going. A good healthy, fighting attitude will pull a person thru this crap.

Hi Mark:

I didn't realize our club was quite this large.

I had mine sometime while asleep. I spent 3 days in bed with the worst headache of my life (and I have suffered from horrendous migraines for the last 40 years)before going to the ER. Really blurred vision, no energy, speech problems.

Had so many MRI's I now glow in the dark. LOL

Neuro ICU 10 days and then recovery at home. Was about another week after coming home before I could walk without a cane and using the walls for support.

I still forget words and have to use other words to describe what I need to say. It gets frustrating.

98% recovery.

I'm praying for you every day and hoping things improve steadily.

Hugs and Prayers

Thanks for sharing, not only the information about your stroke, but about your shopping trip. This is one my favorite quotes--

I can be changed by what happens to me.
I refuse to be REDUCED by it. Maya Angelou

I posted it here instead of on the famous quotes thread because I feel you truely live this way, plus keep the essence of yourself--your sense of humor!!I choose to believe that for every mean spirited person:eek:, untold others-like yourself:)- are truly gifts from God. Thanks for reminding us to keep our chin up and a smile on our face. Look forward to reading of your progress!!!:hug:Carose

Hi Mark...although I don't post often....couldn't help but to stop by and say I hope you are feeling better with each passing day. I'm so sorry to read about your CVA (stroke). My thoughts and prayers are with you...keep up the fight. I do believe there are Angels around us. Hugs, Jewells

Chemar 09-19-2007 12:21 PM

Hi Mark

I have wanted to reply here a few times already because, albeit in a different way, your story has touched my heart beyond the feeling of sad to hear of your stroke :( but glad to see you bounce back so quickly :)

You telling of your experience at that store reminded me of when my youngest son, now almost 18, was newly dx and suffering with VERY severe Tourette Syndrome.
I still ache, and yes, get angry in a way, when I remember not just the kids, but the ADULTS (including some teachers even!) who would make unkind and insensitive remarks about his tics, and he endured a lot of hurt and abuse and bullying because of it. It first broke his heart and his spirit (prior to his 10th birthday he was a pretty regular kid and almost overnight, as the TS gene switched on, his life changed in a dramatic swoop)
but he bounced back too...... :)

and now Mark, just like you, and that lady behind you at the store, my son has let his experience make him better not bitter, and he now has learned to become an angel toward others too, because he learned true compassion from what he was suffering.

May your path be filled with angels, Mark, and your recovery from this stroke be remarkable

sincerely
Cheri
