Sad news

It is with great sadness that I have to advise the readers of this forum that my wife Marg passed away late Friday afternoon.

After suffering from MS for over 36 years and in the past year from various ailments, she is finally at peace. She was recently admitted to hospital with Pancreatitis but had several other medical problems as well.

You have been such a huge support to Marg, always looking for advancements in treatments for this disease. I know you loved her very much.

My heartfelt condolences. I hope you can eventually find some comfort in knowing Marg is now healthy and at peace.

Harry,

What a wonderfully supportive husband you've been. You've also been a great support to a great many other people, on these forums. My heart goes out to you. Please remember to find the support you need and deserve.

Let us all know how you're doing.

Harry,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I know we have not always seen eye to eye on some things but this is devastating and I hold you in my thoughts and prayers and hope you find some way to manage the pain of this loss as well as find a way to fill the days and hours spent in searching for information and sharing it on her behalf and the rest of us living with MS.

I honor you for your efforts and I honor her for hanging on as long as she was able.

To the wonderful, compassionate people on this forum:

I would like to express my gratitude to all those who wrote me messages of condolence after my wife Marg passed away last week. To be married to a lovely person for 32 years and then have her suddenly taken away was certainly very difficult. It was, however, made a bit easier when I read so many kind messages from the people on this forum. Those words were greatly appreciated by me.

Although Marg is gone, I know that she would want me to continue to try and help patients, spouses and families cope with this dreaded disease. I am going to continue to participate on this forum and several others in the hope that I can possibly help others understand and fight this dreaded disease.

Again, I thank all of you for helping me get through this difficult time.

Hi Harry! I am glad to see that you are going to be sticking around. The people here are so caring and supportive, aren't they! I know that they have been so good to me. I enjoy being here..its like a cyber family! I noticed that you are from London.....I am from Keswick, Ont...just north of Toronto. I wanted to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving, Harry. I wondered if you may not appreciate that right now but after I thought about I decided to do it. I know that you are a grateful man. I hope that you have family to spend time with this weekend....if not...spend it here with your cyber family! My continued thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time, Harry.:hug::hug:

SallyC 10-07-2007 10:07 AM

Thank you Harry for your nice response. I was afraid that we had lost your presence here but a happy to hear that you are sticking it out with us.

I'm glad we could be a comfort for you during this very sad and difficult time and hope that will continue. I so appreciate your hope and support for us here and look forward to all your posts.

It's a little slower here than at the "Other Place" ;) and it sometimes seems like we disappear and then walla here we are again but I want you to know that most of us read here every day :grouphug: All the best to you

Harry Z 10-07-2007 01:13 PM

Hi Dorrie,

I've been through Keswick a number of times when we lived in Toronto. A friend had a cottage on Lake Simcoe.

Thanksgiving this year will be very low key under the circumstances but I'm doing just fine with friends and family support.

Take care.

Harry,

Do you have children? How are they coping with this loss?

Why don't you take a break from all the forums you visit for a while? Without a personal need to participate, a change in focus and new direction in your life might help you to not stay "stuck" in thinking about illness all the time and will give you a chance to direct your time and energies towards health and healthy directions in your own life. I'm sure Marg would not want you to stay "stuck" with MS, especially when she is now free of it herself.

A change in focus might be just what YOU need to move on with your life and focus on good memories of your wife and all the things she was about that didn't revolve around illness and MS.

dorrie 10-08-2007 06:48 PM

Harry....:hug::hug::hug::hug:Hope you are OK:hug:

Wannabe,

Thank you for your good suggestions.

I've already cut back a bit on visiting the various forums and don't respond to as many threads as I used to.

Fortunately I've never looked at these forums as being a place to be "stuck" or being totally focused on illness. My main goal as always been to offer an opinion and advice to other MS patients or their families in an attempt to try and help them in any way that I could. I will continue to do this as much as I can because I know that Marg would want me to do that if I could.

Take care.

Harry

There are a number of people who asked me to pass on their condolences from BT, Harry. Please know you are in our thoughts.

You have been the voice of reason on a number of MS topics, and I hope you hang around. Thanks for being there for Marg, and the rest of us.

Cherie,

How kind a gesture from those people....please let them know that I really appreciated their condolences.

I will certainly be hanging around this forum and a few others. Knowing I can possibly help these wonderful people from my experience of being with Marg for so many years makes me feel very good.

I am now going through a huge adjustment now that Marg has gone. I miss her dearly but at the same time am comforted that she no longer has to suffer any more.

Thanks guys for all your support.

Harry
