I read my angiogram report today
...
We went ahead with the angiography via the right radial approach. She was extremely sensitive to even having a paper drape put over her legs to the point that it struck me this might be psychiatric. Our progedure was performed without difficulty and she tollerated it well. She has absolutly normal coronaries. Left ventricular and diastolic 8. Left ventricular size and wall motion is normal. This lady has no evidence of any cardiac problem here and I think the MIBI scan is incorrect. I have tried to reassure her that her problem is not her heart and I think she can stop her liptor, asprin, plavix and metoprolol. She May go home today and she is to follow up with Dr howard. She believes she has something called "complex regional pain syndrome". This is something I have never heard of before but of cource it has it's own web page and I think long before she gets treated with any medication which may cause her long term addiction and sideline her from the mainstream potential of life she should have a pstchiatric consultation and at least a second opinion from a neurologist well versed in this syndrome if it even realy exists. [ this was from the head of he cardiology department in a major hospital too ] |
OMG!! Again, a so-called doctor who thinks he knows everything there is to know and in reality he knows absolutely nothing!!!! "Believes she has" "IF it even really exists"?!?!?!?!
Holy cow,I'm mad that this #&$^* had the temerity to even write this garbage!!! I think we know who need a psych consult and it isn't you sandel!!! I'm actually quite speechless. Wow..... *BIG GENTLE HUGS* that you even had to have someone like this in your space. Will this report hurt you in any way? I mean with docs or whatever? I've done forgotten things I know I should remember about you. LOL Love the RSD fog, swiss cheese brain crud. Karen |
thanks Karen
I am not sure.. the fact that he hadnt heard of it is incredible hes head of a heart hospital here in Canada.. I am suprised that he would write such a thing without checking the facts first..
To top it all off his procedure caused my arm to develope a fistula then blow up and the radial artery is now blocked up and useless.. he refused to take any of the precautions nessary.. wouldn't even give me any sedation (so I could go home 2 hrs earlier he said) Can this report hurt me... well with WCB who knows.. but as I have already spent 3 months in their pain clinics and seen shrinks weekly all prior to that report.. none of them implyed I was anything but depressed because of what my lifes become.. who's isn't.. and with all the procedures blocks ect naa hopefuly not.. it just makes me feel quite sick |
Omg!!
Sandel....
I am seriously at a loss for words here. So, I echo what Karen said so well. I am sorry that you had to go through that, and that you had such an SOB for a doc. I hope that the problems that this butthead and the way that he ran your tests go away soon and don't cause you any more permanent issues with your "comples regional pain syndrome" (I can't believe he even put it in QUOTES like that!!!! ARGH!!!!). What a poop head. I am so sorry. Love and  Jose |
Another Doc that got his license from the internet.
 Sandel I am so sorry you had to go through such poor treatment form a doc that either got his license via the internet or Sears Catalog.
My blood is boiling, don't we all go through enough on an everyday basis without having to be treated like we are all ready for the looney bin. I can't believe the nerve of that so called "doctor". Well I better stop before I say something to get me repremanded. Sandel, can't you report this doctor to someone? Also I hope your arm has no lasting side effects from your test. God Bless, |
:Bang-Head:
Sandel, Firstly I am very happy that you have no cardiac abnormality. This is the one plus you have from this experience.:) To be honest that doctor has just made a right **** of himself admitting that he has never heard of this disease, it is a big admission considering millions of people across the world have it. To get some type of retribution (which I would definitely need) I would print up information for him about the disease and send him the names of all the doctors and psychiatrist whom you see so he realises it is he who needs psychiatric help and not you. Please don't let it upset you anymore--you know that those who care about you know differently. Love Tayla:hug: |
I can't believe this doc. (yes I really can tho). Getting to be the head of a dept/hospital, doesn't mean they are great, sometimes they are just the lesser idiot of those that applied. Don't give up. I wish you were close so you could see my docs. He is the dept head of the Pain clinic at Georgetown University Hospital..a very competive and hard to get into univeristy. It is up there with the Mayo clinic. They are great, and not only do you get the advice of the doc, you also get input from the residents and interns. I like having a lot of different thoughts about what is going on, and what they can try. Always on the cutting edge.

Sounds like this guy may be great as a cardiac Dr. but completely ignorant about the world around him. Maybe he's so busy he doesn't have time to read the medical journals and too arrogant if he did have time. It's intolerable that some specialists don't have the drive to look into things outside their field of expertise.
I'm glad your heart is OK. Don't let it get you down hon. Hugs and Prayers |
how infuriating!!!!!!!!!!!!
this man should not have a license..........
i too am happy there is nothing wrong with your heart, but with this ignoramous i am furious................. he should still have taken precautions even if he had no clue........your comfort should have been his first priority............. sure hope this doesn't hurt your case......... big gentle hugs |
(((Huge Gentle hugs Sandra))) What an idiot of a doc. to say that he has never heard of RSD! what the heck is wrong with him??! Never heard of it?? plain crazy I tell ya, plain nuts!! I am happy that your heart is good however!! I can't believe the part where your Dr. wrote;" long term addiction"?? what the *&^%$$##@!! this made me mad!! this dr. needs to be reported. I say contact an attorney!! Love you much, Sandra!~Love, Desi

Thanks you guys.. It was just such a shock to read.. I knew he thought I was "hysterical" at one point durring the procedure.. he says I tollerated it well, that is not so.. I felt that catheter go up my arm like my veins had feelings my skin does.. then he couldnt get it in the heart muscle so he was going to go in again through the upper leg artery and I said NO WAY and after another try they got it to the heart through the arm.
After the procedure he couldnt figure out why I wasnt so apreciative of the fact he found no heart blockages (I am) because I could not stop crying.. I heard a few nurses discussing someone being hysterical durring the procedure.. and I was so ashamed at that time.. but I couldnt stop crying I hurt so bad and they gave me 2 regular motrin to help and because I was staying at the heart house and not my home for that night they gave me 4 more to last me till the trip home. my arm didnt shut up for along time after the procedure and is still bad at times. My arm is second only to my origional RSD site in pain along with my heart still, I have full body RSD and did at that time too though it wasnt diagnosed as full body then.. that arm flares up alot still and I no longer have the use of my radial artery.. so no pulse on that side of my arm and half the blood flow I guess.. it's my right arm of cource and I am right handed. This procedure happened last December though I only got a copy yesterday to read but I still have nightmares about it... it was like I was being violated at the time.. I was trapped in my own body being tortured.. that is how I felt at the time.. I posted about it then but felt like a wuss for whining.. I guess what he said and thought has stayed with me.. doctors like that dammage more than our bodys they damage our psychie and our feelings of self worth. Thanks again it helps to know that others say this was wrong too I am just not sure what to do about this now.. I had gotten it and other reports to see what I could use for my WCB apeal but I don't think I should use that.. I wonder if they have a copy of that... they may not because they are only taking responsibility for the leg so my doc dint send stuff about my heart at that time... hmm {warm hugz all} Sandra |
edited to add this was written after reading the first post. __________________________________________________ __
ROFL I came to after one of these procedures that required sodium pentathol screaming in agony. They asked if it was the incision that hurt but of course it was actually my RSD hand. It required four units of morphine just to shut me up but I was still in agony. I was quickly admitted. It was horrid. I was caught between being awake and asleep and the pain was incredible. They had offered me an epidural beforehand but no one had ever told me what was what. Always take the epidural. Don't do it otherwise. |
aagggrrrhhh - you poor thing, what a ninny that Dr{???}was.
we had a thread on the TOS forum about how we should think about making up a list of our diagnoses & meds and all treating drs names & numbers to carry with us - in case of emergency or even to show as proof to the idiots like you had to endure. Was this test something to do with your wcb claim? If not I don't think you need to show it to them at all. After my w/c claim was done I emailed lots of TOS info links to my dr & my atty - since they didn't seem to know much about it- the old wastebasket dx thing {per atty} |
A legend in his own mind
This infuriates me to no end! This post brought me back to the day I was cussed out by the cardiologist for telling him I thought there was something wrong with the leg he went in for my angiography. Only 2 hours later I was in emergency surgery to save the leg. RSD was the result of that oops. :(
They think they are god like cause they can tear into us and put us back together. I would follow Tayla's advice and send this sorry excuse for a doctor some information. Dont think for a minute he wasnt hip to the fact that what he wrote would follow you around. His duty was to report on his findings, not play shrink. I believe he was totally out of line putting anything down about medications, addictions, or state of mind. Like you I was totally clear of any coronary problems, and I am sooo glad you at least dont have to worry about that killer disease. :) I would have someone else check your artery to make sure there isnt some dangerous blockage from that procedure. Sometimes it is hard to get a doctor to even look at something like that when they find out WHO did the procedure. At first they will be very helpful, then all of a sudden they wont see you anymore, or tell you nothing is wrong. Keep at them, it can cause lots more problems if there is a blockage. BIG HUGS  |
Sandra,
So true what Allen said about this doctor, his role was that of cardiologist and not psychiatrist. He chose to specialise in hearts----perhaps he should look for his own:rolleyes: Go get him Sandra! Love Tayla:hug: |
while i am not a heart patient i have a family friend who is one and he had a patient with addiction issues who refused pain meds, they finally decided to do a local for an epideral. the problem is just like with most invasive procedures causing pain is not an acceptable trade off.
your doc may have been the head of the department but the reality is those positions are as much a popularity contest as anything. i would report him to the state board for several reasons...1st his actions during your procedure ignoring a preexisting condition simply to make the procedure easier for him is unnacceptable...2nd if he is unaware of an accepted dx across the field of medicine he is incompetent...3rd the fact that he caused such serious damage (a lack of a radial plus is a significant problem)...and 4th to show such arrogance to actually write that he didnt belive the dx and further to state that he believed you had mental issues is slander. i am so sorry you had to go through that experience and continue to struggle from the damage caused. i didnt realize that medical degrees were available in cracker jack boxes...how wrong i was. |
Hi folks,
I'd like to back up all the good things said so far - saves me an awful lot of thinking & writing and I don't know the laws in your country - come to think of it I don't know the ones in Australia.....I do know the docs close ranks. I would like to add tho that definitively some cardiac patients subject to any procedures sometimes thoracically ranging from the simple to the comlex can end up with CRPS so that in itself is additionally troublesome given the power of his position.....and the power of his position. (Please guys correct if you think I'm wrong). This would imply that he would stomp on anyone under him who put this forward at faculty management meetings?????? You guys are right on the money as a collective & that is our strength. Sandra YOU aren't the crazy one. The last vestage is your head - you have a good one....don't let an idiot like this one in. I am so glad you are OK. This "mental" or "in the mind" question does "us" ALL a lot of harm - whether we hear one of our own has worn it or experience it first hand (I have also had this said in writing) and was none too happy......I know I'm not alone.....but we need to share these experiences where we know we will get this wonderful level of support. It is a shame the .22 possum humane remedy can't be employed but it is possible that he can help heart patients so long as they don't get CRPS :D:rolleyes::wink: + LOL Hugs & a gentle & peaceful day without the "P" word.
