My Halloween candy is calling me!!!!!1
I can't get it out of my mind. I know this big bag is sitting on my kitchen table and I want to open it and eat some. Someone rescue me!
|
Don't make me come down there and wrastle it away from you! I'd put it down the toilet so fast, you'd never know what happened (until you needed a plummer)!
There, did that help? Oh, how about this: AREN'T YOUR THIGHS ALREADY IN THEIR OWN ZIP CODES??????? Ooooh, how about reverse psychology: It's okay Doyd, just eat it all up and then there won't be an issue! Then you can just explain to all the little goblins that you're the real GOBBLIN' one in the neighborhood. |
use it to bribe the mods. :D
i buy candy that isn't my favorite. usually something kids will like. this year i found fear factor candy. really gross gooey super sour stuff. some look like eyeballs or decaying rats. |
Don't open it! I repeat! DO NOT OPEN IT!
(TAFFY knows from past...okay from yesterday's experience) Do not open the bag! The little candies just jump out and into your mouth! Need to hide....must hide the 8 huge bags of candies for the 4 Halloween kids that I will get! DON'T OPEN THE BAGS! |
Am I the only one who no longer opens the doors on beggars night? I just hate the fact that I can no longer jump up and hand out goodies on Halloween.:(
I used to decorate the windows and DH and I and barking little dog would look forward to it. We always got what we liked and just bought extra and then hoped we didn't get too many beggars, so we could eat all the leftovers. Eat hearty Doydie...LOL |
Nope, Sal, I'm the same way. In fact, my dad has traditionally handed out quarters and this year I suggested that he stop since we are now connected to another whole neighborhood full of young families. On top of that, we're the 'good' neighborhood into which two trailer parks now dump off their kids. Nada, zip, no way!
I told the kids from our own neighborhood that anyone who knows Jack is welcome to use the 'secret' side door and come on in for some show-n-tell. He'll probably give them all dollars.;) Of the 200+ kids last year, we knew about a dozen. Kind of puts a pooper on the fun if you ask me. |
Where I live, we don't get any trick or treaters! It's great! LOL!

I live on a dead end street with no lights out in the middle of nowhere. Around here, parents take their kids to the big subdivisions and drop them off. We aren't one of those places. Or they go to one of the school/church organized parties.

Candy
I live in a development and we have lots of kids. My daughter her husband a friend and her husband come over and hand out the candy to the kids. We order a pizza to eat and watch the Toms River Annual Halloween parade on TV. Been doing that for many years. I think this might be the last year. Even that puts to much pressure on me. I also have lost interest in it since my husband passed. Don't know what the future will be only God knows. EVERYONE HAVE A HAPPY HALLOWEEN Don't eat to much candy we don't wand the tummy aches. I should talk I am sweets.
|
Put on your earmuffs doydie!! Don't listen!! Of course mine has been open since last weekend when some of my grandkids were here. They won't be here for Halloween so they took some home. Another grandson who lives closer will probably be the only one ringing my doorbell.
You're right though, when the kids are grown, it isn't nearly as fun anymore. I switched from Halloween to just Fall decorations. Down in the town (I'm up on a hill), people go all out and there's even a parade. Safer than a big city. Trick or treat, Smell my feet. Give me something Good to eat!!!! As long as it's chocolate! Happy Halloween! |
Well I must confess, I was weak. I ate some. I had to make sure it was good candy soi all the Moms and Dads of the neighborhood wouldn't be worried that the candy was tainted. I was just doing my civic duty. My husband doesn't buy into the theory that you buy candy you don't like. It's his favorite holiday of the year. He loves to see the kids and pass out the candy. Unfortunately he takes from the bowl as he is closing the door. Sams wholesale has these HUGE bags of candy, all the good stuff.
we have this one family down the street that won't take candy until their kids give us candy. They are all so sweet. I remember when we were kids, ummmI guess that was about 45 years ago, that we had certain houses we knew we could get popcorn balls and caramel apples from. They just don't do that anymore. Of course if they did we wouldn't let our kids eat them anyway. |
5 lbs. extra
This is the start when all that flubber starts appearing again. Haven't lost last years. Candy, candy, cakes, luscious desserts the holidays have started.I need help help. I am addicted to sweets. They seem to help me with my moods or I use that as an excuse to eat more of them and vow never to over eat them again HA HA. Have a Happy Fun Day.

Candy on the table
1 Attachment(s)
Attachment 1866I had these cool little six packs of oreo cookies to hand out and I ate half of the box.
When faced with this problem....tell yourself....okay, if I run out of candy because I ate some........I will have to give out dollar bills:eek::party dollar: I love Halloween...the photo is my daughter as Cookie Monster back in 1989 |

No, I'm the Cookie Monster!!! :D
I didn't get the light out fast enough last night and some wee little beggars came knocking at my door, I bawled because couldn't answer the door. I HATE THIS DISEASE! |
((((sally))))
is it cold already where you live sally? or could you sit at a little table outside for a little while? we did that with my dad one year. was chilly, but the 30 minutes was worth it. this year will be hard for me. my front door is down stairs. i can't do but a few trips up and down daily. i'm going to sit outside. this is texas...and the weather is still nice though. i know the ringing of the doorbell is fun for the kids, but i figure one less door and still get candy? they won't mind. |
Good idea, Monkey breath, but my porch has one very high step and I wouldn't try to handle it by myself. The Kids would probably have to take candy off of my frozen cadaver....which would fit right into Halloween..LOL

Oh, I dunno. He probably found some other middle-aged, disease-ridden women to eat cyber chocolate with him.:Sigh::Sob::icon_cry::Bawling::Bawling: |
The kids, well most of them, were so cute. My limit was two peices of candy. One of the little boys was so scared I couldn't convince him to take 2. It was his first Halloween. This was the first time we had a bus stop at our street. I know Halloween is an equal opportunity holiday but geez. But all the kids were very polite. This was the first year also that we didn't have anyteenagers. Hmmm, it's almost midnight, maybe they still are planning on coming.
|
we only had one group of kids. :(
|
We didn't have as many kids as we usually do. Started to give handful of candy as the night went on. I was very surprised at the number. Also we didn't have many teenagers also. They have out grown candy want cash instead. Times are really changing. Are we admitting we are from another time, world. That is how I feel sometimes with they way things are in this world. Now to fight the temptation of the left over candy. Have a good day All. Have to go and pay my taxes and water bills it is that time of the year UGH!
|
Bah Humbug!! I'm just glad it's over..:p
So what are ya doing on Thanksgiving..Turkey Day? I am the Matriarch of the family now and since I can't get it all together, our family traditions have dried up. The younger generation doesn't seem to get it. We will probably have Krogers, ready to cook and eat, turkey dinners. They are pretty darn good....not as good as Grandma's but not bad. Sooooo "Over the river and thru the woods, to grandmother's...er...kroger's house we go"..LOL |
I'm in the same boat over here on the coast, Sal. When my mom died it all kind of landed on my sister and me. Over the last several years, it has faded more and more. Last year I crashed down at FFM's and had a blast!
This year, even my sister bailed, so it's just one brother, Jack, and me. We're having bison filets and a few bottles of wine, a salad, some good crusty bread and maybe a store-bought pie. To heck with them! I'm sure we'll chase all that with some of Jack's pricy brandy.:D |
I am seriously considering flying up to Chicago and spending Thanksgiving with a friend of mine. Haven't broached the subject with you-know-who yet, but he's been invited to go hunting with a buddy of his.
We shall see what kind of mood he's in after this elk hunting trip with his family after he tells them I am not spending Christmas with them this year...it's going to be an interesting holiday season - to say the least! |
Going to my daughters house. She took over the holidays after I couldn't do it anymore. But it is only going to be six of us. Each year it gets smaller and smaller. My son will not be here. To far to travel and work. Hopefully he will make it for christmas. Since my husband passed the holidays are just not the same.
|
I had 6 little beggers!
2 cowboys 1 Indian princess 1 horse 1 football player and 1 chicken I gotta think about Thanksgiving now! |

Two years ago we realized that our holidays would never be the same. Our Mom is 82, severe degenerative disc in the back, very hard to stand. My older sister has a lot of orthopedic problems, fibromyalgia is on SSD. I have MS. Our brother lives out of town, comes in Thanksgiving morning. So our kids have stepped up to the plate. The food isn't always as good but when some one else is cooking and cleaning up, you can't complain. My oldest daughter likes to take it easy. Last year her baby was one month old and she was nursing so we let it slide. This year I told her she can't get by with that. They really like the recipes we always fixed so they try to keep it the same. We have also gone to fancy paper plates.
Our youngest daughters husband is shipping out for his second tour in Iraq Jan 2 so they aren't sure if they are going to stay here for Thanksgiving or go up north to his family. They don't have the money to but want to. Our brothers son has a new job. He is at that point in his life where the older you get, the smarter your parents become. So my brother and his wife have told him that if he can't get off for Thanksgiving, they won't come so they can stay with him. So it might be a small group. |
