Happy b-day. I had a great one....I ended up reuniting with a friend I had not seen in 10 years!!! We had lots of hugs and shared dinner, she her hubby and me and mine. I haven't laughed that much in years...and years. It was the best gift I could have gotten and it was all serendipity. So I wish you the same level of happiness.

I would like to thank all of you. Alan and I went around the corner (he wore his shoe boot thing), and we had Japanese food. I LOVE JAPANESE FOOD!!!

Then we went right across the street to Dunkin (it was 2.pm) for a nice cup of coffee. I said "you can all wish me a Happy Birthday", and the guy took a coffee stirrer, stuck it into a Munchkin and said "Happy Birthday".

And yes, I ATE THE MUNCHKIN. I haven't had a Dunkin Donuts Munchkin in over 10 years. Oh my god, was it good. Only half, Alan ate the other half.

Then my two friends came over and we sat in my living room. Hey, I'm now 60 years old. I broke out the Amaretto and poured a little. I don't drink, but today I gave myself a taste of Amaretto. Not too bad.

I wonder what I'll do when I'm 61??

Oh, my uncle called me. He said "I just moved to Colorado". I said 'how old are you now?" and he said "I'm 83 and I just stopped working. I think I'm ready to retire!!!"

Want to know what he's been doing since he retired from teaching when he was 50?. He played in a Dixieland Band with his wife. She played piano. He put on a straw hat and they would go to nursing homes and entertain the people. And he just stopped. At 83!!!

Boy, I have good genes to look forward to!!!

Oh, I also have an announcement. I received a phone call from a reporter who writes for the NY Times, and also Fox 5 on the web. She's doing a feature on Diabetic Neuropathy and she was given my name.

She was very nice and I answered all her questions. And Rose, you'll be very happy to know she wrote down everything about Methyl B-12. We spoke about B-12 levels and iherb, and well, it was an in depth interview on diabetic neuropathy. She asked lots of questions and I did my best to explain my experience with diabetes. The article she is writing only has to do with Type 2 diabetes.

She said she has interviewed people and she knows Glenn and HeyJoe. She knows Irene from the Neuropathy Association.

So when the article is published she is going to send it to me.

How fun!!!

Melody

Sorry to miss the actual day, but Happy Birthday anyway. Sounds to me like you and Alan had a good time and made a happy day of it. Good for you both.

Thanks to all of you who thought of me.

It means a great deal, believe me.

I have no plans to slow down. I don't care if my arthritic knee is driving me crazy, I just put on Alan's old knee brace (made of neoprene), or something like that. My goodness, what a difference. This knee reacts to the weather. Lately, it's been cold in the a.m. hot in the p.m. and then cold after 7 p.m.

So my knee doesn't know what the heck to do, so last night it throbbed. I put ice on it and took some ibuprofen. For me to even take an aspirin for pain, well, I don't take pills. But I had no choice. The motrin did work a bit.

But the brace I have on now, well, I don't fully understand why, but maybe it's giving my knee some stability. Not too bad.

Alan's knee used to buckle. That's why he bought this pull on neoprene thing. But his knee hasn't done that since he started going to Dr. Theirl. I have no idea why this is so.

And why does this happen to my knee when the weather changes dramatically during the day. Only happens then, and I want to bop myself over the head.

But if it's 100 degrees outside, well, I'm happy. I guess I have to move to the desert!!!

Monica de Lara 11-06-2007 11:22 AM

Yous spanish is good Melody!! I am glad you had a happy day!

daniella 11-06-2007 11:40 AM

Melody I'm so glad you had a nice birthday. Your spirit is so young and by your picture you look it to. Melody you know that I feel for myself the weather adds to my pain. I have heard that from others too. I moved to Ca but even here on cold mornings or rain I feel the difference. I'm not sure how you get around it but I did hear that when your body adjusts to more climate changes the pain will be less. Many thoughts and I hope your feeling better. By the way how is the fitness place and have you thought about pool therapy that may be easy on the knee. I'm not sure so make sure to ask.

Julie K 11-06-2007 12:53 PM

Happy Birthday Mel
