I can't seem to upload a video to YouTube
Okay, I know how to make a video using my webcam. I do this all the time, and send these to my friends. Sometimes they can open up my videos, sometimes they get error messages, hey, it works, and then it won't. Can't do much about that.
So I figured, if they can't open up my videos on their computer, why not upload my video to Youtube. I use Youtube all the time, and I know what I'm doing. So I clicked on my account, and then upload video. You put in some information, then you press continue and you go to the next screen, where you see a place you can browse for the video you want to upload. So I click on browse and it takes me to a folder named "Pictures and Videos". and there are all the videos I make with my Logitech quick cam. I find the video I wanted. It's saved in .avi format (which youtube supports). I know this because I went to their help section and it says "we support wave files, mpg files, .avi files, (all kind of files). So once I saw that i had a .avi file, I thought I was home free. I clicked on upload, it uploaded with no problems. Then I get a message "you have successfully uploaded your videos, go to My Videos in a few minutes while it's being processed. So I wait a few minutes, I go to "my videos", and it tells me 'can't tranfer, blah blah blah, something like that. Can't exactly remember. Now what am I doing wrong. I'm uploading the way they say to, it prompts me that I uploaded it correctly, but during the processing of it, it's not on youtube. I tried clicking on the video itself and saving it in another format (maybe in my emusic folder), but when I try to save it, on the bottom of the screen, it says "all files". I think it should say "mpg, or wave" file. But it won't let me save it as a wav file. Not that I think that this might make a difference. I have no idea. All these people upload to youtube every day. I can't seem to do this. I'm probably doing something so stupid but I'd appreciate any help in uploading a video from the My pictures and video folder onto Youtube. Thanks so much. Melody |
Me either..Sue

A WAV file is usually for sounds only I think - so that is why that way didn't work.
I uploaded a small vid on the Google video site months ago and I think I had to log out or reopen the page or browser to view it...?? so I bookmarked it and then closed and came back to see it. you might try that and see if it works. |
or post the link to it and we can try to view it??

How do I post a link to a video that's on my computer??
I don't think it works that way. Maybe I'm nuts. I'm going to go to google, and register and hope it uploads. Then if it works, I'll put it here. Thanks much Jo Melody P.S. Okay, I just uploaded in on Google. The message is telling me it's being processed. (Just like it did on youtube). I only hope this one, well, that I have better luck with. I have no idea how long this processing takes. will update..mel |
oh sorry I read it wrong - i thought it did upload OK and you couldn't view it on Youtube.
Let us know if the google one works for you. |
Jo:
That's exactly what DID happen on Youtube. I uploaded it just fine. It told me "uploading is complete, wait for processing. etc.etc. Click here to view your videos. So I clicked, saw that it was in "process mode". then all of a sudden, I get an error message saying "could not transfer, wrong file, blah blah. But then I went to the help section and it said that it DOES accept .avi files. Besides other type of files. That's what is so confusing. I'm going to check now to see if the same thing happened with the Google thing. I shall post the link if I was successful. It's really funny. Melody |
I Did It!!!!!
I'm on Google.

Does it look like it's tinted greenish to you or is it my screen?? |
No, it's not your screen.
I have a logitech webcam. Bought it years ago. Now I have no idea if a different webcam would make a better picture. better pixels???? whatever. All I know is I'M ON GOOGLE!!!!! Alan is hysterical about this. Melody |
Hi All!!
I want to learn how to upload to Youtube. I have saved this video in every format known to man. Youtube says it accepts various formats, including avi files. This is what my video was initially saved in. I tried to upload it. Didn't work. I tried saving in the Windows Media Player thing, as "all files", This was the only option it gave me. Tried to upload this. Didn't work either. So if anyone knows what I can do with a video that is presently in my Logitech folder and is presently saved as an avi file, I would greatly appreciate it. Isn't it cool to learn this techno stuff at 60?? I think so!!! Mel P.S. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. |
Well... I had the same problem as you - after all the waiting for the upload - it says failed!
maybe someone else has some ideas on it. I found this on a website- it's a prgm for uploading vids to youtube http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/guides/d...to-YouTube.htm |
Jo:
Thanks for that information. I went to that site and bookmarked it. I'm going to learn it today. Don't know if I can apply what I will learn but at least I'll try. I don't know why the google videos don't come clear. I am not familiar with changing resolution, etc. I just uploaded a video (you'll laugh), that I did over the summer, when I put on a plain black top and Alan took one look at me and said 'you are not leaving the house dressed like that". So I made a video for his sister (who think's he's a fuddy duddy, and thankfully, she thinks I'm a hoot). I'll let you know how the youtube tutorial goes. But for now, Here's Melody, in her top that Alan won't let her out of the house with. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...56936760959211 UPDATE. UPDATE I downloaded the free Youtube installer. I followed directions to the tee. When it gives you the option to BROWSE, (I know how to do this), I simply went to the my logitech picture folder, found my video, and when I went to upload it, I was given the following message: ACCESS VIOLATION AT ADRESS XXXXXX, MODULE XXXXXX READ OF ADDRESS 000000. (I'm leaving out all numbers because I have no idea what these numbers mean and it could mean personal information on my computer, so I'm just being safe and putting XXXXXX where numbers actually are. But what this is telling me is that the youtube uploader is not letting me access my own video on my own computer... am I correct?? Now why can I do this on google, but not on Youtube?? jeezz |
