not having a big christmas here. we decided to get the kids something that won't mess up their rooms. music lessons. :D guitar for grandmonkey and electric piano keyboard for lil'monkey. they both have instruments already, but not doing the greatest learning on their own.

for all the kids teachers i started making the hot chocolate and latte mixes in jars. adding some chocolate dipped spoons.

i hate shopping. have i mentioned that?

tovaxin_lab_rat 11-27-2007 02:05 PM

Shopping? Are you kidding...

I hate shopping!

Glad you are feeling better Sally.

Chris 11-27-2007 07:29 PM

Hi Sally,
I'm glad you're feeling better today! I hate to sound so ignorant (yes, hold the jokes for now), but I heard the term "Black Monday" used yesterday somewhere also. What exactly is BLACK MONDAY?

I think you probably heard about Black Friday, Chris, which is the Friday after thanksgiving= the first big shopping day for Christmas. I never ever shop on Black Friday..

I know ther was a movie called Black Sunday about someone blowing up a football stadium with the Goodyear blimp..

I was just using the metaphor...I don't know if there really is a Black Monday..

Taffy 11-27-2007 09:44 PM

I HATE to shop! I will give em' some $$ and wait out in the car while they go buy what they want. Yeah, I know, Ba, hum, bug! Blame it on MS...it did it to me! Fine....I sort of never have been a big shopper...

Jappy 11-28-2007 11:01 AM

Xmas Shopping

:) I loved shopping for christmas. But can't enjoy doing it as much now because of MS. But when christmas comes around I try not to let it get me down. To me it is a holiday that means love and peace. Even though the world is in a termoil. If we all can just try to keep the true meaning of christmas in us this world would be alot better. I know it is hard for us to do it because of our health problems. I try but I do fail at times and become a blubbering angry person WHY ME! O well I am going to try--try--again--again. Does anyone know their plans for christmas. I don't have any grandchildren. Health problems with both of my kids spouces. It is just weird that this happened. I do have 5 four legged grandchildren and they are just loveable and faithful as much as anyone could ask for. Hope everyone has recuperated from Thanksgiving. --------------------- Joyce :circlelove:

black monday is the biggest internet shopping day of the year. the estimates are that employees with shop for 12 minutes and will cost the employers millions from lack of productivity.

Hmmmmm, I thought that was Black Friday....the day after TG. Oh well. Yappy probably knows...she googled it...LOL!!:p

DM 11-29-2007 09:34 AM

Black Friday is the day after T'giving when shoppers GO out to the stores.
Black Monday is the internet shopping day, where people sit at their PC's and order online.

I am not at all enthused about the Holidays this year. Another Bah Humbug here.:(

ME NEEDER...BAGH!!

Jappy 11-29-2007 12:38 PM

This year I have no feelings to get ready. Today I am hurting so bad that I just want to go somewhere and I don't know. I don't even know what I want to say. My body is in such a turmoil. I am also having problems with the virtigo. I am walking into everything. Yesterday I had hoped that today I would go to the store and get some of the groceries that I need but the darn ms is telling me otherwise today. Sorry to blast off and spoil everyones day. My little puppy also seems to know that something is wrong with me. She is not insisting that I play with her. She is just lying down beside me on the floor. They say animals don't know, If everyone could be as caring as these wonderful pets life would be a whole lot better. ----------------Joyce-------------:(

*pushing dingbat & co. aside*

Chris, the "black" comes from an American idiom that refers to the state of a business's accounts. "In the red" meaning a negative balance in the ledger, "in the black" meaning all is well in the profit column.

There is a terrific irony in the use of this term, "Black Monday" because a generation ago, it was the same term used to refer to the most monumental financial disaster in the history of this nation. It is the same term used when referring to Monday, October 28th, 1929, the date that the U.S. stock market crashed, ushering in the period in American history known as the Great Depression.

Cindy hates shopping. Thank the good Lord for the internet. All shopping is completed and items en route to the little recipients. Cindy loves technology (and Johnny).

SallyC 11-29-2007 07:46 PM

Ok, it's beyond the shopping thing for me. I just can't seem to get into the spirit, at all, this year. After the TG fiasco, I wish it would all just go away. I'm so depressed. :(

It doesn't help that my DD doesn't seem to give a sh** either rightnow. She has been sick to her stomach all day today....doesn't know if it's a bug or nerves. I vote for nerves. Kids are driving her nuts and "N'er do well:rolleyes:" DH is like having another Kid, only worse.

She's the bread winner, works all day and comes home to more work and screaming, spoiled Kids. He should be making it easier for her but he doesn't. I live in fear that all this stress is going to bring an MS attack down on her.

Can't we just pretend that Christmas doesn't come until next December??? Pleeeeeeeese?

Curious 11-29-2007 08:06 PM

:D sure sally. that mean i get to skip my birthday in dec and not age.

 you have the best ideas.

AfterMyNap 11-29-2007 10:03 PM

Sal, your words rain hard on my heart. Disappointment is a bitter pill to swallow and it's no party to puke it up.:Dunno: You sure can't lecture DD about how her DH should behave, and ya' can't give her a talkin' to over the TG thing.

C'mon up here, we'll hang, stay in our jammies and make fun of Jack together, it'll be great!

My Christmas spirit escaped me several years ago and now I merely go through the motions in as minimal a way as possible.

For me, it's pretty simple, no kids, too many grown-ups, just enough beer. I guess that I just don't get it the way others do. This is a thing between God and me and the rest is really a lot of hype and trading a lot of junk. The best part of it all for me is my quiet time and the sing-along of Handel's Messiah on Christmas eve, it means a lot to me.

SallyC 11-29-2007 10:40 PM

Oh, Cindy, thanks for the offer. I'd love to just chuck it all and come running up there and hang with you. Who's Jack? Is he of the Daniels clan?

Anyways, I have to "go through the motions" for the Grands and DD. Have to be cheery like Mrs Clause for the cause..

Isn't this life over yet..:D just kidding.:p

DM 11-30-2007 09:31 AM

*sticking leg out... ooops~ Sorry Cin* :Poke:

It seems the Holiday spirit has escaped alot of us this yr. I confess, I am in no mood for it either. The only thing I like about it right now, is the Christmas music. Oh, and Cindy, good taste in Christmas Eve music.

DM LOVES Johnny!
Oh and BTW.... since Leno is on reruns due to the strike... They are showing JD's first Tonight Show appearance tonight. Me gonna watch and drool!

*wipe the spit and goo off your chin AMN!!!!*
