Hi,
I spent two nights throwing out my colleague's crap -- I want to feel better about being in the office. I was getting depressed and feeling weighed down.

I spent a a total of 6 or 7 hours so far going through filing cabinets and moving books.

He was a control freak about the office and a neat freak. He had a file for everything and saved stuff that he will never use. So I consolidated his junk into two filing cabinets, one desk, and one bookshelf. That is enough for if/when he comes back from sick leave/disability.

By going through his stuff, I got another look into his mind -- and it is not pretty. Now the stuff is on the way to the garbage.

I left at 11:15 tonight with piles and piles of paper and photocopies stacked in the hall for the cleaning crew. http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/office/trash.gif http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/office/trash.gif http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/office/trash.gif

And I feel that a weight has been lifted off me.
I got sweaty and worked muscles I normally don't work. I am going to take a hot shower Now.
I am going to find ways to bring new life into the office. http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/nature/leaf.gif

I am glad you feel the burden lifting. He sounds so sad. It would be so easy to give in to his need for love and attention. But the cost is so high.

I am so proud of you.

Mari

I'm so proud of you. Way to go.

You are doing the best thing for yourself.

Now go out and buy a plant to start. Then get somethings to make
the office come alive for you.

It feels good to sweat sometimes!
Great way to take some control of your surroundings.
Bet you will sleep good tonight!

Hi Mari,

A shower always feels best after working hard like you did. I hope you are resting now and that your muscles are not sore tomorrow.

Yes!

I bought a huge Poinsettia plant at Target and two red pillows for my chairs to liven up the place.

I have no idea why this is an issue for me -- only that I have to carry out what I feel that I need to do. (no point in blocking myself).
My sister "gets" it and I think that you all do.
Thank you very much. :)

I bet the plant is very pretty, they seem to be wonderful at the stores....ya know I have heard the best way to water them is with an ice cube, slowly melts...never had one so am not sure if that works or not.
I am happy for you about your new pillows too!:)

I'm so glad you got the poinsetta and the pillows.

And yes we do get it.

And I sure wish I'd kept this article I got in the mail the other day.

It was from my mom's church their newsletter. I can't find it, but
I want to post what I remember. For you.

Its kind of to go along with your poinsetta and the things your doing.

The minister was talking about how a couple of years ago, after they
had delivered all the poinsetta's to shut ins, and everyone took the
ones they wanted. The church was left with 5 really badly welted
ones.

And how he decided he would put them in his office, and try to take care
of them for a while. How he isn't good with plants and stuff. But that
2 of them made it. And that for the 2nd year in a row, he has had red
leaves on these poinsetta's.

And how he can't keep a green plant alive for anything, but for some reason,
these 2 plants keep giving him red leaves and living. He was just tickled
red to tell his story.

Your poinsetta story reminded me of his. I'm hoping your poinsetta, gives
you as much happiness in the next few weeks, as his has the last few years.
And if for some reason your makes it longer, then I'd love to hear how
you are the next to get the red leaves next year.

Way to go, Mari!

Can't add much really... but my own...

WELL DONE !!! :)

I'm glad you are feeling lighter with having cleared the place out, and making your office more fitting for you. Red cushions and a poinsettia sound like a wonderful match to liven up the place :)

btw my mom bought a poinsettia for us the other day. i will think of you when i look at it now :) aside from when i think of you anyway, which i do, even if my posts are scarce.

I will try to keep up better - not because i feel i have to - i feel i would LIKE to, but am having real problems doing the simplest things. :o
