I'm learning how to make videos.

I just made a Merry Christmas video for you all. I'm learning how to do the google and youtube thing. Haven't got the youtube thing down yet, but I do know my google.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...35070748552791

Roxie2007 12-20-2007 11:32 AM

Very cool Mel!! I loved it!
I just love Technology! My family had an Internet Christmas this year. Since we're spread all over the US now we all got on our webcam and that way we could all watch my granddaughter and everyone else open their gifts......it was a really neat way to be able to have Christmas.......next best way to being there!

cyclelops 12-20-2007 11:51 AM

You guys are soooo good at all the animation. I have not played around with it....what a bore I am. Thanks for all the color and action! And happy holidays, which ever one you happen to be celebrating!

MelodyL 12-20-2007 12:06 PM

Roxie.

You gotta hand it to technology. How else can so many people see each other at the same time, start chatting away, and do it live. Kind of like the old version of video-phones. Remember, years back when they tried to make video-phones, only the video part was so choppy, it never really took off. Maybe the super rich have it, but not the everyday people.

Well, the everyday people now have their own tools. The webcam.

My friend's son (who was adopted), just learned he has a sister in Poland. I wish I could have been in that house when he turned on HIS webcam, and she turned on HER webcam, and in 3 seconds or less, a brother and a sister, who recently never knew the other even existed, well now they are actually seeing each other. I think this is a miracle, I really do.

Now I have friends with computers and webcame and they won't go near them. Don't ask me why, I think they think if they touch the computer, it's going to explode or something. And these are people younger than I am.

I embrace technology. It doesn't rule me. I simply use it as a tool.

I am now learning to upload to youtube. I am learning to convert my video files into youtube friendly files.

Now that's a statement I never thought I would be posting on a message board. But hey! this is 2007.

Got to role with the times!!!!

I bet within 5 years (and I told this to Alan last night), we'll all be wearing rings with built in telephones. We'll put the ring to our mouth and start talking into it.

MAYBE SOMEONE WILL BE ANSWERING!!!!

ET PHONE HOME!!!!! lolololol

mel

mrsD 12-20-2007 12:11 PM

That was really cool, Mel.

I enjoyed it... complete with the New Yawk accent! LOL

But I thought you'd at least be wearing a goofy Xmas hat! (or something)...
Maybe next time?

We are still futzing with the computer here...it is getting very wearing.
My son is coming on Sunday (if there are safe driving conditions), to upgrade us, with more RAM and a new bigger harddrive. He will attempt to fix the router problem, and I am springing a new printer on him that we just had to buy, as our old printer gave up the ghost 2 wks ago.

If the 3 downloads to the existing router do not fix my internet snafus, then we will have to replace the router too. As it is I can only get on the net
"sometimes" and for short periods only.

MelodyL 12-20-2007 12:25 PM

I guarantee that if I ever learn how to upload to youtube (I'm trying, believe me, I'm trying), that Alan and I will make a funny video.

Got to spread all the christmas joy from our house. Oh yeah!!!!

I emailed Frank that his father was having foot surgery. He said "oh wish him luck for me". That really went over big with Alan.

So at least, Alan has me. We went to Dunkin and chatted with our neighbors.

Thank god we can at least walk around the corner.

AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE A NEW YORK ACCENT!!! I never knew that. lol

cyclelops 12-20-2007 12:39 PM

Rings with 'communicators' gee....I know some one on here that was into jewelry design....pehaps she will read this and make a million $$$.

I am still waiting to be beamed up.:D Perhaps I will meet the ever so logical Spock and get a whole new outlook on life.

Curious 12-20-2007 12:53 PM

Like this? Had to do it a little differently because I have a Mac. Thanks for the instruction, though, because this foggy brain wouldn't have been able to figure it out on its own.

Thank you to everyone for all the cute Christmas greeting -- and especially for the utube video, Melody! Merry Christmas to all!

Brian 12-21-2007 04:05 AM

Wishing you all a very merry Xmas and a painless new year.

Brian :)

darlindeb25 12-21-2007 06:45 AM

I have never figured out how to add pics in this forum either.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!!!!!!!

:grouphug:Deb

MelodyL 12-21-2007 08:43 AM

Deb:

It's a copy and paste thing. You go to the website, copy the codes, you paste it here into the message, you go to the bottom, you hit reply, and BINGO, your graphics will be inserted.

Let's see if ole Melody can give this a try.

OOOPS.
didn't work for me.

Going to dunkin donuts with Alan now.
When I come back, I see that I have to learn this graphic thing.

more good wishes for all! Every one stay safe and warm - and eats lots of goodies!

mrsD 12-21-2007 12:36 PM

options for graphics...

one can put up their own stuff by getting a Photobucket account and uploading there. Most of it is free. They then give you an url with img tags that you just copy and paste here into the text box we type in.

There is a FREE linking site called BestSmileys.com

They give you a url to the left of the picture/graphic you like, and you just
copy/paste it here.... simple .
http://bestsmileys.com/christmas1/16.gif

This is one of the Christmas pages:
http://bestsmileys.com/christmas1/

Most places that give free graphics and avatars DO NOT let you link to them.
You right click on what you want, and copy it to your harddrive. Then upload those to Photobucket and copy the url provided. It is just an extra step.

BestSmileys lets you link directly to them, and they are easy and very good.

MelodyL 12-21-2007 01:20 PM

I guess that's why I like the Best Smiley's thing.

It's easy.

And I like easy!!! http://bestsmileys.com/angles/12.gif

http://bestsmileys.com/christmas2/8.gif

But I'm just curious. Many of these sites are absolutely free (for example the best smileys thing) How do they stay in business?

thanks, mel

cyclelops 12-21-2007 01:33 PM

My computer is like me....it construes everything as infected...

I can't download anything without my antivirus blocking me, which is probably a good thing. This computer is overloaded with junk, starting to get elderly...well, let's call it late middle middle age.

I could turn off the antivirus, but then...who knows what I would catch...and then I would be isolated from you guys. My lap top had a neurological problem, at the electrical input area, so it is not up to work right now....it is on disability, perhaps permanent.

I get to leave the hard stuff up to you more technologically advanced folks and just have fun seeing what you come up with.

It is so foggy here...it is oppressive and I worry about travelers....it is good to see the happy lites on here.

MelodyL 12-21-2007 02:22 PM

Cyclops

Did you see Alan's neuropathy rap video??
mel

Jomar 12-21-2007 02:26 PM

On photo bucket and most sites- like on the glitter-graphics
http://www.glitter-graphics.com/graphics/359362

click on the picture or graphic that you like and then scroll down to the codes section - it will say this-
{To post on Glitter-Graphics.com and forums, use this BB code:}
you have to select & copy the "codes" that are for for vBulletin or forums.
then you "paste" it right in the message box.

you can click preview to check & see if it worked.
If not sometimes one portion did not get copied so I usually recopy it again and try a second time.

no need to download anything for these kinds of images/graphics.

cyclelops 12-21-2007 06:52 PM

'Twas the night before Christmas', when all through the house,
It was me who was stirring with my computer mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes by tomorrow they’d be warm enough to wear:
The adult children were nestled in their own queen size beds,
While visions of my check book danced in their heads;
And papa in his PJs with three dogs in his lap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I attempted to move from the bed, to see what was the matter.
Alas, my behind had sunk in the memory foam pad
It took quite rustle, and, I got up pretty mad.

The moon on the crest of the new-fallen snow
Made me dizzy as I scanned for burglars below,
When, what to my half plastered shut eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a little old driver, who was hot at the throttle,
I knew in a moment, I took too many pills in the dark, from that bottle.
More slowly than turtles, down the stairs I limped lame,
As he shushed, and whispered, and called them by name:

"Now, DASHER! now, DANCER! now, PRANCER and VIXEN!
On, COMET! on CUPID! on, DONNER and BLITZEN!
We have to be quiet, this woman, don’t wake!
Or I won’t hear the end of it, for goodness sake.

"Her back is ‘a hurting‘, her hands they are numb,
That restless leg syndrome... Who named that? It’s dumb!”
Never the less, we must bring Christmas cheer
She hasn‘t done much shopping, that is evident and clear“.

And then, through that ringing, I heard in my ear
The prancing and pawing of eight tiny reindeer.
As I drew in my hand, and whacked it on the sash,
Down in the family room, I heard a loud crash.

The embers were hot, they had just warmed my feet,
I think I heard a few curse words, that I won’t repeat.
By the time I got down there, everything seemed normal
After all it‘s the Family Room, it isn‘t too formal.

St. Nick, he was toting Lowe Alpine and wearing North Face,
My cheap Wal-Mart PJs were so out of place.
A bundle of tech toys he had dragged down the flue,
A laptop, a cell phone and Blackberry, too.

His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
The guy never ages and he stays just as hairy!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
Check neuro.wustl, some odd syndrome, you know?

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
He can manage to smoke, not cough, and still breath!
He had a broad face and a little middle aged belly,
But that pipe and that smoke sure made him smelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
I wondered if he had Lipitor or Zetia, at home on the shelf;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but he looked at me odd,
And filled all the stockings; then gave me a nod,
Aiming his finger, but missing his nose,
Somehow by magic, up the chimney he rose;

I saw a few signs of some neural dysfunction
But he did his job well, and with plenty of gumption
He works only one day per year, and elves do the rest,
I am not complaining, he does do his best.

I went back to my bed and I tried to relax
Took my Ambien, eye drops, and slurped Miralax
Santa had gone high tech, but he still DID exist
Some things can be real, if we just don’t resist.

We might not feel great, we might feel like crap,
But sing this to music and call it a Rap.
Put yourself on Facebook, but here is the rub,
You must have some type of PN, to belong to this club!

As the trendy old Santa sprang to his sleigh,
I knew after MY house he would call it a day.
But I heard him exclaim, as he checked his GPS,
"HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, MAN, WAS THAT HOUSE A MESS!”

MelodyL 12-21-2007 08:52 PM

Wow, that was some poem. Good job. You have a talent now don't you??

And you didn't tell me if you saw Alan's neuropathy rap video. If you can't view it let me know and I'll send you the link. You'll die laughing.

mel

cyclelops 12-21-2007 09:28 PM

Mel, send it to me...PM me...I need a good laugh.

Silverlady 12-21-2007 10:25 PM

Wow!

You should publish this in a book Cyclops! It made me laugh out loud and trust me, nothing is doing this right now!!!:o

There is magic in this season even if it is in the hand of our own little elf.

Thanks for this, I enjoyed it a lot!
Billye

cyclelops 12-22-2007 01:27 PM

I have started my new career as a freelance writer:cool:....I know why they call it freelance....you end up doing it for free:p....actually, I have had a few things published here and there...and, since no one would want me coming at them with a needle nor calcuating their dose of medication any more:eek:...freelance writing just may be the ticket.

Glad you liked it....it was a spur of the moment thing.

With your encouragement SL, I just may work on that book.

glenntaj 12-22-2007 05:16 PM

Good job, cycleops.

You should send that into Neurology Now--they need a sense of humor.

You are hereby awarded one of my divinely-inspired literary no-prizes. The prize is worth approximately what you're getting paid for your freelance work. :D

Seriously, as one writer to another (though mine tends to be more within the non-fiction/critical/commentary realm), good job.

Now, where is that video of Alan?

MelodyL 12-22-2007 05:20 PM

Okay, here you go. Get ready to laugh your head off.

Oh, when you finish this one, go down to the bottom right where it says "more videos from eliz7212" and you'll see the rest of my videos.

here you go:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sNDu2Bmn3U

glenntaj 12-22-2007 05:30 PM

I've been viewing all of your contributions, Mel.

Alan's rap was funny, but the one that made me laugh loudest was your take on the blouse. (And no, I don't think it's too revealing at all.)

You certainly have a little video industry going. Could be an income potential here . . .

MelodyL 12-22-2007 05:43 PM

Thank you my dear. I think I looked very good in that blouse (for a 60 year old broad!!!)

lol

Merry merry and all that. I just made like Santa Clause. I went to my neighbor around the corner. They have two dogs. I bought two little presents. You should have seen the doggies go crazy when I opened up the presents and it turned out to be little doggie hamburger toys. They are still chewing them.

Oh, want to have a really good laugh??? My friend's husband is from Poland. I wanted to impress him with my linguistic ability so I decided to send him an e-card in Polish. Of course I first went to my free online translation service.

It prompted me to put in whatever I wanted and then click on "from english to Polish:

So I typed in the following:

Merry Christmas Marty, I wish you good fortune and I hope this language translation comes out. Love Melody

Would you like to know how it translates into Polish (I found this out by doing the reverse, (copying and pasting the polish and putting it back into english). Thank god I did this.

This is what came out in the Polish Language.

"Merry Christmas Martini, I hope you go on welfare, and I hope this comes off of my tongue. Love TUNE!!!!

I never laughed so hard in all my life. I read it to him over the phone and they are still laughing.

Melody (now known as Tune)
