home now
Hi,
They did blood work, an EKG, a chest Xray, and sent some blood to be cultured. They said I showed no sign of infection. Then the doc gave me -Tessalon Perles (for cough) -Augmentin -Tylenol 3 I took the Tessalon Perles and the Augmentin but as my stomach feels sensitive, I might skip the Tylenol 3. I wonder if regular aspirin might help a bit instead -- besides, I am concerned about taking two new meds. A third med might be too much -- sounds dumb maybe. I asked both the doc and the pharamacist if these meds will cause a problem for a person with bipolar. They send no. I have to trust them I suppose. =-=-=-=- I was quite a mess with lots of crying and lots of brain fog. I could not remember my address for the intake person and had to give her my voters registration. I had a very difficult time answering the doc's questions and told him I was having problems with brain fog. He said, "What's that?" M. |
Mari
I'm hoping you have found the tesse perles to be of great benefit. They are wonderful for my son. THey had no side effects and I've also taken them, but they don't work as well on my chronic cough. They are just something that as a last resort work on a stubborn cough, and luckily if they are what I'm thinking of have no taste. The augmentin is a form of penicillin so hopefully that helps fast too. I personally am glad you didn't try the tylenol 3 yesterday, because it has codeine in it. So I would want you to be ready for that part of it. But hopefully if the other two are in your system today and are working it could be used. Donna |
I hope you feel better soon. I am glad you are being forced to rest. I am sorry you are probably feeling scared. This might be the culmination of your having to deal with the emotions concerning your colleague...

Oh Mari, I am so sorry you're feeling so awful, please take care of yourself and don't expect to do much while your body fights whatever it is that is making you have a fever. I am glad you went to the ER. I hope that you feel better soon, I'm thinking about you and keeping you in my prayers. :)

feeling more in control
Highhatsize,
Thanks for mentioning in another thread that codeine helps ameliorate a cough. I tried to work out a way to take it today. When I was calm, I ate a turkey sandwich and then took the Tylenol 3. I plan to take it in between the doses of the Tessalon Perles. It seems to be working. The coughing this afternoon/evening is under control. Donna, Yes, I was amazed by the Tessalon Perles. I should send a thank you note to the dr. I'm glad that he was on shift. I felt that perhaps he wasn't taking me seriously when he first saw me. But as I sat behind that curtain in my little "room" for a few hours, the coughing got worse and I'm sure that the whole place could hear me. Mymorgy, I'm still dealing with the emotional fall out from my office mate. But I think (hope) that I am making progress. One of the things I do that is herapeutic is throw out some of his stuff each time I go to the office. He was a neat freak but apparently had something OCD and had way too much stuff. Last night I threw away a huge brown ugly dusty macrame thing that had been hanging from the ceiling for way more than 10 years. It is especially satisfying becuase he never liked anyone to touch his stuff. Now I throw it away -- and I am getting control of my environment. Pamster, My temp was at 102 for much of the day. Now it has fallen below -- so I am hopeful that I can get well. The last time I had a cough like this I had walking pneumonia 12 years ago -- so I was freaked out. Also the cough came on fierce and suddenly -- in less than 24 hours. Weird. Thanks for helping me. :grouphug: Mari PS. When the doc asked me if I had any medical conditions, I said, "Bipolar." Then a few moments later he asked if I had any SERIOUS medical conditions. I said that I thought bipolar was pretty serious.. . . not sure he got my joke. |
Golly You went thru the wringer.
So glad that you had a competant doctor. and hopefully you will feel better soon. bizi:hug: still wonder why you had a temp of 102?????? |
Thinking of you, hope you are feeling better today.
Check in when you are up to it. :hug:Nikko |
Hi,
No fever today. But still coughing and now feeling weak and lots of brain fog. Still taking the anti-biotics to finish them. Mari |
Mari
Keep taking the antibiotics to finish them. And honestly they might be the reason for the brainfog. SO just hang in there. Donna |
Mari - hope you are feeling better today. So much sickness going around lately. They always say to make sure you finish the anti-biotics, even if you start to feel better.
What did they give you? I remember I used to get the Z-pack, it only had 5 pills, you would take 2 the first day, and then 1 for the next 3 days. They were like taking a anti-biotic for 10 days or more. They worked very quickly. Are you sleeping okay? Check in.................Nikko:hug: |
How are you feeling Mari?
((((HUGS)))) bizi:hug: |

Hi,
I'm better and plan to return to work tomorrow. But I am having trouble getting up enthusiasm for leaving the apt. I feel tired and brain foggy -- and some coughing still of course. I guess I should take a shower and get some clothes and things ready for tomorrow. Mari |
I hope you are able to rest tonight
