What is a "TOAD HOLLOW"

I've noticed that some of you don't have where you are from on your posts, but I see Mary Ann is from "TOAD HOLLOW". Is there really such a place, or is this some kind of place from an American fairy tale? I'm just curious (no, Curious is still herself). I'm inquisitive.

Where is everyone from?

Right now we live in a suburb of Atlanta, GA. I am originally from Richmond Hill, England. I came over the pond to go to Graduate School in NYC and met my husband. We were married and then lived in Central Fla. until we moved here about a year ago.

Here's the story of "Toad Hollow"

About a year ago, AMN and I paid DM a surprise visit. We were drinking a bottle of "Toad Hollow" wine. That's how DM came to call where she lives "Toad Hollow." In honor of AMN and FG!

SandyC 01-20-2008 04:49 PM

I live two hours east of Toad Hollow. :p

Hint: That would put me in Somonauk IL

AfterMyNap 01-20-2008 04:51 PM

'Tis true, we were, in fact sitting in a hotel drinking a bottle and posting pics of DM's very own home online... She kept asking me where I was (for FG was the mystery guest) and I saw the wine label, and replied, "I'm in Toad Hollow"! All true! I like to think of TH as a state of mind (lessness).

*holding up flat hand & pointing at pinky knuckle*

I live right chere.

Here's the actual bottle at the actual moment:

tovaxin_lab_rat 01-20-2008 04:57 PM

That's right! TH and Free-toes! In unbreakable glasses! LOL!

I've never seen "Toad Hollow" wine. Is it any good?

This tale has me splitting my sides. I was going to google the city of Toad Hollow before I inquired.:D Thank you, Cheryl and Cindy!:winky:

Surprise is so inadequate to describe this very well plotted stalking.

I will forever LMAO when I think of it. Toad Hollow Rules!!!!

Hasn't been the same since.

Stan still asks about that broad who flies planes. too funny!

AMN + Kevin

FG + Stan or Kevin's Dad *she's not picky*

AfterMyNap 01-20-2008 07:32 PM

Just to clarify, there was no such thing as "princess for the day". The proper term is of my own making and I've used it for years, it's "Be nice to XX Day" and XX gets pretty much anything he/she wants. DM wanted to ride on the penny pony.

You're too funny! I don't even remember Kevin's dad! Where was he???

Stan I remember...he was the old guy at the bar who wanted to "show me his airplane!"

Card Board Kay! Sorry...I just got caught up in the moment!

let me dig out a picture CBK is the one in the back in the middle!

greta 01-20-2008 08:07 PM

CBK=Cardboard Kay of course!

You know flyfishing momma - well, AMN gets a little lonely in her travels and made a lifesize portrait of kay and mounted it - hence CBK. She gets into all sorts of trouble, but she is handy when you want to drive in the HOV lane!

I live in Virginia Beach, VA. I go to Alpharetta all the time to visit my mom and sis- ever heard of it;)

That is a riot! Is that a picture of a friend of hers?

Alpharetta is very close. We were building a home there until the builder went bankrupt. Michael works for Siemans in Alpharetta.

Let me know the next time you're going to be here. We don't live far from there. I work on "Pill Hill" and deliver at Northside Hospital. I'm sure your sister probably knows about Northside-we deliver more babies than any other private hospital in the country. There is a Northside Hospital out in Alpharetta but they don't have Labour and Delivery. I've heard Virginia Beach is lovely. Michael has friends who were based there when they were in the Navy.

I'm pretty sure my nieces and nephews may have been born at Northside. My sister is very involved with MOD as a result of her 3rd son who was born early and had CP. He spent a lot of time in their NICU (not the one in Alpharetta, but the one near the MARTA).

For now, I'm there every 2 or 3 months, but it's usually way too hectic to do anything outside of family. I have demands from a mom who is dying to see me, a niece and nephews who want to play and a sister who wants me to hang out with her and take her away like calgon! I leave exhausted and feeling guilty because noone got enough time with me!

I lived in Woodstock back in the early 90s. I know exactly where your DH works! My mom is right down the street. Very, very small world! :) How cool is that?:D

Oh Greta,
I'm terribly sorry about your nephew, but as you know most of the CP children do very well these days with early intervention. The area around MARTA is referred to as "PILL HILL" as there are 3 hospitals on each of the 4 corners. It's a mass exodus at shift change. I feel for the employees who work 7-3. I understand being so busy when you are here. When we go back home to Michael's we are pulled in all directions trying to see everyone in a small period of time. It IS very demanding and exhausting. I have not been out to Woodstock as of yet, but we have many patients from that area. Atlanta is SO BIG!!!

What a coincidence that your Mom lives near the Siemans plant. It's rather large. We were transferred to this plant from Fla. last year. Michael has been very impressed with the way this one is run and the size of the facility. He wishes we lived a tad closer, and I'm happy to be close to the hospital as I have to go in during the middle of the nights for women in labour. I'd hate to have to drive any further. As it is, I've almost missed a few deliveries, but the good thing about Northside is there are always plenty of CNM's or OB's around.

Yes, it is a SMALL WORLD!:)

Unfortunately, Michael had a pretty severe case and passed almost 3 yrs ago at 4 years old. We don't know why, but it was likely due to a seizure. He was the most amazing little boy ever with the best smile and was the ambassador for the MOD the year he passed. [/QUOTE]

If I ever get the chance, I'll definitely look you up. My trips to ATL will be fewer and farther between after our move. Although, I'd never want to live there again, I love to visit. I just love the aquarium!
