Hi there. :)

Well, right now it's me jealous of you...high's in the low 20's with wind chills at zero here...

I don't know about the summers. It gets hot here but what's so horrible is the humidity. :( It can get so oppressive.

Good to meet you. :)

Thank you, Kay! I can only take partial credit for the chat room...the really big cheese, DocJohn, made it happen and did it straight away! Thank you for asking about it. It lets us know the needs and wants here and how we can help. :)

Glad I got to chat with you last night. It was fun for me...a rare treat.

KD

PS - Are you really plucking chickens? Are you making homemade dressing? Umm, how far away from me are you again cause I want some! ;)

Hi there. :)

I could use some fair weather...well, it's "fair" here, sun's bright but it's COLD.

OMGosh, I'd love to visit Alaska. I've seen some beautiful pictures. Have you seen our photo gallery? You can place any pics there you might have...hint hint. ;)

I'm glad you're here. :)

Thank you Kimmydawn - it means a great deal to be welcomed like this. I'm from New York State and it's cold and windy here today too. I wish I was in the jungle today too.

Cheryl and AMN can tell you just HOW to get here.

If you blink, you'll miss TH.

kimmydawn 01-21-2008 04:59 PM

I'd love to hear more!

All my family is from an area in W. Va. that's not even close to a town and a name is just given for the county...lol. One set of grandparents lived way down a "holler" road with two working coal mines and the other set lived just at the mouth of a hollow road.

Some of my best memories were wading the cricks catching tadpoles and backing crawdads up into a jar. :)

Way back in the woods was a little waterfall as part of White's Creek and we used to slide down the rocks covered with moss to make them slippery and land in the small pool below. Just next to that spot was a broken, rusted baby carriage that my mother and her sisters used to play with in the same exact spot.

Sitting on the porch in the morning you could hear nothing but the whipperwhill's call. Ahh, I miss it.

Now, I'm not saying Toad Hollow is like that, but it sounds just as enchanting. :)

jprinz99 01-21-2008 05:04 PM

butting head in where it doesn't belong...

Your childhood sounds wonderful. W Va is gorgeous and full of nice folks but I think the Toad Hollow they are speaking of involves a certain vintage of the almightly grape and a road trip.

Correct me if I am wrong, as I usually am:o

First you fly from Boise to SLC, then to Chicago...the hard part was renting a car in Chicago...:(

The rest was easy!

I doubt you're usually wrong, but I think you're wrong about one thing...

Of course you belong here and your thoughts and opinions are appreciated. :)

Yes, visiting my grandparents in W. Va. was awesome...always. Otherwise, I lived mostly in NC and it's beautiful there as well with just as beautiful people.

Thank you,

KD

tovaxin_lab_rat 01-21-2008 05:52 PM

Jane is correct...TH was named after a great bottle of Wine. Chris started a thread called What is a Toad Hollow! AMN and I elaborated a bit on that thread with DM's help!

Sorry, didn't mean to leave you hanging in a rental car leaving Chicago! Alamo tried their best! LOL! I won out in the end!

;)

kimmydawn 01-21-2008 05:56 PM

Oh, that's cool and thanks for the explanation!

After the explanation it still sounds like a pretty cool place to visit from time to time...hehe. :)

Toad Hollow is a wine, but alas~~ tis also an enchanted lil village that AMN and Flygirl renamed for me. Toad Hollow does exist and if you know DM, you know it to be true.
