Does anything really help????
I was diagnosed with fibro about 17 years ago...I have tried a lot stuff...I'm not on anything right now except wellbrutrin...I just deal with it. But lately it has been more than I can take...help...

Everyone is different so there could be a drug combo you haven't tried yet. Right now I am on muscle relaxants and a bunch of brain meds to help. It doesn't quite help but it brings the noise level down to where I can function somewhat.

I guess I need to just be patient and keep looking for a doc that might just help me...thanks;) |
Yeah pain and patience don't really go together. But with this illness it almost forces you to become a type B personality.

Or you could take a road trip to see Jim. |
Mobic works for me anti-inflammatory and Ultram
Also I have added more zinc in my diet and supplements as well as Borage oil which has helped with those pesky prostaglandins that cause pain for me. |

Mobic is anti inflammatory - my rheumy gave it to me. Kind of like cellebrex its a COX 2 inhibitor or something.
Ultram is pain killer. But thats because I also have a lot of pain from TOS in addition to fibro. Also have conected a lot of my fibro pain to mentrual cycles and gyn doc is suspecting endometriosis which causes those prostraglandin pain hormones. Endo is linked to high % of people with fibro. |

This year has been my worst year yet. Does fibro take a rest sometimes for a while??? |
Yes FM goes into remission on occasion. I have been lucky enough to go back to work in July after being out on disability for 5 years. But if I do and do something "normal" the pain flares again. For example, I moved this past weekend and here I am at work....miserable. Taking Robaxin like they were candy so I can sit in a chair comfortably.
The last few days, when 4:00 comes I have never been so happy and I love my job so its not the work. Its the pain! |
Very generally speaking...
Seeing your doctor regularly to discuss medications that might be of assistance...getting a second opinion if your doctor is uncaring or uninformed. Naproxen for muscle aches is often taken. Sometimes antidepressants and muscles relaxers can be of help. In some cases, I have heard of people needing narcotics at times. A good vitamin routine, including a B50 tablet and extra B12. Avoiding excessive stress and excessive physical activity. Gentle/moderate exercise regularly. Masssage and/or physical therapy when warranted. Seeing a therapist if needed; especially if the stress or pain levels are excessive. Eating a healthy diet...avoiding "junk" type foods. Getting to bed on time...at least attempting to get 8 hours of sleep per night. Taking an appropriate medication to help with sleep if repeated attempts fail. Having your thyroid and other hormone levels checked to see if replacement therapy is needed. Patience and preserverance. |
