Where's Cheryl?
I am about to sign off for the evening and was wondering if anyone had heard from Cheryl? I know she was waiting to hear from her PCP about an ENT appt. If anyone has heard from her, please post on here and let us know. I'll check back in a little bit, but I've got to work tomorrow and need to get ready for the day.
Thanks! Chris |

I took a nap this afternoon and saw my massage therapist. I feel really crappy. Still nothing from the ENT doc....my PCP has called them for me. They are still not returning my calls. Maybe tomorrow otherwise I am going to the ER...this is getting ridiculous...my PCP agrees. |

What a bloody mess! Do feel better, and do go to the ER if you haven't heard anything from the ENT tomorrow. Have some extra hugs from me. I'm glad your PCP is looking after you. Keep us informed. Be well, Chris |
Well that plain stinks!! Hope you feel better oh Winged One.
Did the massage help at all? I had one last Fri and it felt so good. |
yeah, dang, woman! This has been going on way too long!
Get back in bed, nothing to see here! |

The massage helped loosened up the muscles in my back a bit. Maybe I can sleep a little better tonight. She said they were spasming pretty bad. Thanks DM! Wings are not working very well. Good thing I am not flying! ;) |

Sorry to hear you are still feeling yucky! Get better soon.... I think she needs to go back to her original one.. it is her!!!! but, I can see her getting on the plane neked now!:eek: Wasn't there a song "DM GET YOUR CLOTHES ON!" "Yeah they call her DM" |
" I took a nap this afternoon " Dang! only one nap in one day? You are tough! Get well!:)

Char ~ you're singing is making my dogs howl!
How's it going today FG? Been thinking of ya! Puleeeeeeeeeeeeez feel better soooooon!:hug: If I went neeekid, I'd be the only one on the plane. Me thinks even the pilot would bail. |

No goosing the pilots tho...Gee, I do remember a story about a Southwest cockpit crew flying naked...(it's true, honest - I know one of them!) ;) Yeah Paul, just one nap yesterday, but it was 3 hours long! Then I got up, went to the pharmacy, got some drugs, and came home and went back to bed! I think I slept about 16 hours yesterday! Today I have a couple of "must do things." One being a legislative reception this afternoon. AMN/DM/Taffy/SallyC will be proud of me...another chance to wear my pretty red pendleton jacket from the "let's dress FG" thread... |
Good News!
The ENT specialist's office called this morning and after some cajoling (ha ha ha!) I have an appt with the doc tomorrow morning! They are going to "work me into the clinic" schedule tomorrow if I can be there at 8:30 with all the paperwork filled out.
I told her I am a very compliant patient and will do anything she wants so I can get in to see the doc...fax me the paperwork and I will fill it out and if she needs anything else just let me know and I will get it! She asked me a bunch of questions and sort of implied that my PCP was not taking care of me. I told her that I have seen them 3 times in the last month and that they have done as much as they can and they are the ones who referred me to this doc...(thinking to myself she is the one who dropped the ball by not calling me 3 days ago to make an appt! - but I kept my mouth shut!) So, paperwork faxed to me and I am now filling it out and will be there bright and early tomorrow morning....gravelely voice and all! ;) |
Why an ENT, Cheryl?

Cherie, I've had a sinus infection since Thanksgiving. After 20 days of antibiotics, no relief! The CT scan I had showed all the above...so a referral to an ENT specialist was in order! |
Quote:
Gotcha. Sinus problems plagued me too for many years, and the first signs of MS were actually blown off as sinus problems. I have had two operations, and the last one was my saving grace. I had blocked sinus passages from a nose-break that I never knew I got. That was the first operation. The second operation came after two straight years of sinus infections (many years of problems though). I was on antibiotics every other month actually. I'll just tell you my story, in case you run into the same thing . . . When I went in to see the ENT, he could find nothing obvious that was wrong. I would choke, I had constant infections, and was sick all the time. He did all kinds of tests, I was sent to an allergist (which I had many allergies), and then back to him. It was the choking aspect that finally got me the dx. After three appointments, he spotted something dangling in the back of my throat. Turned out to be a polyp, but he couldn't tell where it orginated from. He guessed my cheek sinus passages, and booked me for a quick 20 min "snip" surgery. Several hours later, it turns out the story was that my sinus passages were "riddled" with these polyps, and the infection was so deeply entrenched, the antibiotics couldn't possibly clear it up. (Most sinus infections are hard to treat, but this added to the problem significantly.) I don't know if testing procedures are easier for this condition, but I would ask if I were you. If it wasn't for that dangling one, I'd still be sick as a dog. Good luck, Cherie |
I've had sinus infections for most of my life. I had a tonsillectomy in 1974 - that was a nightmare! An in-and-out day surgery ended up as a 3-day stay in the hospital! Docs don't like it when you don't wake up from the anesthesia...
Anyway, I have been allergy tested 3 times. The CT scan I had last week was my 3rd and this was the first time I've been told I have a deviated septum :mfr_wha:.... I 've not had any trauma that I am aware of...well maybe when I was a sophomore in high school but am surprised it's never been caught before...anyway...whatever! I work in the wrong industry to have seasonal allergies, but I take medication and continue to do fine and deal with it. The antibiotics have always worked before so never even gave it a second thought. However, I've never had any problems this time of year. This is different this time. Not going away. And it's just feels different. Nothing is showing up on the MRIs nor the CT scan. No polyps. I've been told in the past that I need that scaping...but have declined b/c I know that once you have it, it will need to be done again and again. Not volunteering for any surgery that I don't NEED. I am not a good patient. This guy is a friend and a good ENT surgeon. He won't lead me astray. I've not seen him professionally, only socially. That's why I wanted to get in to see him...I've not been pleased with the doc I have seen in the past. So, we shall see what happens tomorrow. He's got all my records and he loves a good challenge - that would be me! :D |

All the best, Chris |
I'm really glad to hear that, Cheryl! Someone needs to get a handle on this for ya. Feel better and I'm thinking of ya!
Geez, I forgot to borrow your pilot's wings for tomorrow. They would have looked snappy on my jacket!! |
Glad to hear that you are going to ent. Praying they will give you an
answer to your problems. Keep us informed of their findings. Rest now, take the meds to help you have a good nights sleep. Jappy  |

Here's an update on my visit with the ENT doc this morning!
I have a black right eye! He said that my right sinus is completely blocked, nothing to do with the deviated septum (which is inconsequential at this point) but from the infection! He has this really neat scope with these really neat glasses that you wear so you can watch what he's doing up your nose! I knew everyone would appreciate that! I cannot believe how swollen my nostril is...gross! But really cool looking up there! Anyway, bottom line is that I am going to do a double whammy of antibiotics for 10 days, repeat the CT Scan and then if this infection isn't cleared up...yep you guessed it, surgery. He's thinking surgery anyway but wants the infection cleared up. He will only do the right side b/c there isn't any sign of sinus disease on the left, at least at this point. So...now I get to try a new antibiotic, two new ones! Yeah. I don't do well with new drugs! This is one I have never tried before... *looking around house for benadryl* The rest of the story is that the study doc wants to see me on Wed, a week early about my new symptoms, unless of course, the antibiotics kick in and I feel better by Monday. Great...NOT!!! |

Got snow??? |

FEEL BETTER!!! |

Oh man. Take all of 'em tonight! You need to feel better, it's been months!
You said you didn't want that surgery, so you changed your mind? |
Wow, Cheryl. TMI, but ugh, that is just awful for you. I hope the new ABs work their magic and clear up your infection, so Doc can clean your cavities..:p
I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you.. |

I am on Avelox/oral and Mupirocin ointment with the saline flush (boy! is that fun!) Rushing into anything???? I guess in the big picture, you are right! I just so tired of being sick. This guy has several patients with MS and has a good grasp of the disease...thank goodness! A lot of insight into the infection issue. That was refreshing not to have to explain the infection aspect of MS...great guy! |

I hope the antibiotics do their thing, and you don't need surgery. Big, (but gentle) hugs coming you way! |
Avelox is quite an excellent antibiotic. It does take a while to work it's way into the system. MUPIROCIN? Does he think you may have a Staph infection? Did he take cultures from the back of your nose?
|
Quote:
No he doesn't think I have a Staph infection. The one he wanted to use I am allergic to..this was the next best option! My list of allergies is a mile long! Yep the pharmacist said Avelox was pretty good ABX...no dairy products with it tho.... |
Quote:
Thanks Anne...gentle hugs back to you! I read your thread...I had a basal cell removed from the side of my face last summer! I get those things on my back all the time but this one was pretty nasty on my face. We all laughed about it cuz it looks like I have half a face lift!! |
(oh man, how did I miss this thread???)
Oh Flygirlie? EEEEEEeeewwww! Where's the leetle green faced emoticon? Will PODH be home if you have a reaction to the meds? I am sosooo glad that you got in to see the doc and that you are getting some help with this! It's been going on too long!! |
Quote:
|
So is it true? When you looked up your nose could you see your brains? All my little kids need to know if you really can pick your brains out!:D
Oh...you just to blow the snot out of your sinuses. Now blow!:D Seriously, sorry you got a black eye and I hope the new drugs do the trick! We need you to get well! |
Quote:
:thud: I think I just lost Tippy.... Someone get the smelling salts and wave them around ... Oh Taffy? Taffy? You there???? Sorry! Good news. I've taken the new antibiotic. 20 minutes and I can still breathe and no rash...yet! :D |
Oh...that's ok....was any blood involved? Now that would be a different story!
Side note* You shoulda seen some of the diapers I had to change today! OMG! The change their whole clothes, sting your eyes, and choke kind! Lots of fun! :Hum::Noooo: |
Quote:
No trading today! I don't do diapers...nope...not me! I do blood...but not diapers! |
Quote:
Hope the drugs are starting to kick in. Do you feel any different? Are you getting anything outta there yet? (She probably will be descriptive if she does!:D) |
