Happy day!!!

I am finally leaving the house on my own today:Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli:!

I've been stuck at home pretty much all of the time since Thanksgiving because of a lousy relapse.

I feel like I can "think straight" enough to drive! I'm not going far, just a couple of miles, but it feels fantastic:D:D!

I just had to shout it out to the world:p:p.

I'm sure I will overdo it; it's worth it! I'll sleep tomorrow:wink::wink:.

turtle_78 01-25-2008 08:57 AM

GREAT!!!!!!...... Have fun and drive safe

momXseven 01-25-2008 08:58 AM

Jodylee 01-25-2008 09:06 AM

Don't worry guys! I would never drive unless I was sure I was safe:D:D!

I live in South Florida, really bad drivers. Just leaving the driveway is dangerous:eek:.

tkrik 01-25-2008 09:13 AM

YEAH! Enjoy your moment of freedom. It's so liberating isn't it. Just don't get carried away and overdo it by driving and driving and ending up in the desert. Just give me a call if you do. LOL

susieq 01-25-2008 09:26 AM

Enjoy getting out, but be careful not to overdo. You're sure to be tired after being out of commission for so long.

MamaMonkey 01-25-2008 10:07 AM

Awesome! Enjoy your outing! I'm glad you are starting to feel like yourself again!
:Head-Spin: :Excited:

sherylp 01-25-2008 10:56 AM

SandyC 01-25-2008 11:54 AM

Whoohoo!!!!! Dancing with you girl!

Jodylee 01-25-2008 12:15 PM

I made it back unscathed :D:D! I didn't even hurt anyone else:p:p!

I went to Starbucks, Whole Foods, AND Publix! It was a marathon on a scooter in the stores:p:p!

Thank goodness for the store scooters! I never would've made it without them:D:D. Although, they are waaay too slow for me :trampoline::trampoline: !

Now, I need a nap. Talk to you all later!

barb02 01-25-2008 10:03 PM

Happy to hear you made it out and back. I love the store scooters too, but I always seem to go shopping when none are available.

NurseNancy 01-25-2008 10:29 PM

your joy shines through dear!

I'm a tad jealous, as I haven't felt safe to drive in over three years... (trouble using the pedals and shifter)

that reminds me... I forgot to TELL ya...

yesterday, I was THRILLED to discover a motorized chair at the Mennonite grocery store here in Belize!

I was just zipping in for one thing, so I didn't use it, but... I made SURE to effusively THANK the manager for getting the scooter...

and let him know that the longer I can shop, the more I'll spend! :D

I believe it's the FIRST store with a scooter in this WHOLE COUNTRY !!

so glad ya got a day out, glad it went well, and happy for you, Joelle!

tovaxin_lab_rat 01-25-2008 10:37 PM

Good deal Joelle! Being cooped up is no fun! These exacerbations are no fun. I am glad that you finally got a day out! Hope you get another and another and another!

Vonn07 01-25-2008 11:17 PM

way to go, Joelle ...

next time - open the windows and yell "WA-HOOOOOOO" as you're driving ... as long as it's not when you're going passed a cop!! LOL

I get that in my legs lately too - the shaking .. and can't press my foot on the brake hard (have to use both feet) ... and then sometimes the gas pedal - my leg goes in a freeze and I have to 'think' to move my leg to stretch ...

anyways .. WAY TO GO!!!

jprinz99 01-26-2008 01:34 AM

Congrats os being "sprung"!!!

Kitty 01-26-2008 05:18 AM

I'm so happy for you, Joelle!! :) I still drive - although very limited - and it's just about the only time I feel "normal". It does wear me out but it's worth it just to be able to get out of the house for a bit. Be careful!!

Have you considered getting hand controls? I finally "gave in" a couple of years ago cause I was having trouble lifting my leg from the accelorator to the brake . My neuro & DH had been recommending them for a year or so before I decided to check them out. I went to a rehab center & had 3 or 4 training sessions which helped my confidence greatly. Then had them installed & now they feel like I've always had them.

tovaxin_lab_rat 01-26-2008 02:02 PM

How are you doing today Joelle?

Sally and FG don't you gals sleep?

I was up at the same time you were. Every night I fall asleep but up every two-three hours. The pain wakes me up.

I know Sage was happy that I was up at that hour she had to go out.
I guess the surgery is putting pressure on the bladder because she usually
sleeps all night till 7am.

With this checking around I starting to find you. :D:D

Jappy

Jappy 01-26-2008 07:35 PM

Very Happy to hear you are able to go out and drive for a little while.

When we have to stay indoors it makes things worse. You feel like you are
locked up in a prison. At least that is how I feel when I can't leave the house.

Things are worse when you are a driver and this darn disease keeps us
from doing our free spirited driving. I hate to rely on someone to take me
some place. I feel like I am just being a pain in the (you know what )

Truely I am happy you can go and drive now. Take care.

Joyce (Jappy) :):)

Jodylee 01-26-2008 07:47 PM

I took cat naps off and on all day today! I am back to 'cog-fog' city, argh! But I'm going to try to go out again tomorrow. My dh has to work 18 straight days in a row. Someone has to go to the store, LOL. It's less than a 1\2 mile away. I think I'll be able to handle it. We'll see tomorrow! Thanks for checkin' up on me guys.
