I was just reading that they are going to be ending the show soon ,thought I would mention it and see if any else read something about that..

I Read the same thing. I don't know if it has anything to do with his MS.
I guess i will kind of miss his show

I was curious about the details of his exiting also. I read that they would be airing 52 episodes for the next television season that they are calling "The Best of Montel", so it doesn't seem things are on bad terms.....but I don't know. I'll miss the show, well mostly the Sylvia Browne days. :D

Maybe Montell is just ready to go that's all.

I am not surprised. He has been on a long time. Maybe his MS is becoming too much.
Lots of folks will miss him.
I am not one of them.

He has had his own show for 17 years and wants to persue other interests. He says its NOT MS related, but it will free him and allow him to get involved in other passions in his life. Have you noticed that he seems to have had Silvia Brown on 3 out of 5 days a week lately? Now, I am NOT saying there is anything wrong with her, I just want to see other topics. its great that she told someone in the audience that their dead momma is ok, but after awhile it doesnt hold your attention anymore. I would like to see more shows about topics that affect me, or that I can relate to. I must admit, I havent been watching him much anymore. :eek:

Maybe Sylvia Brown foretold Montel his future and he decided enough was enough. LOL.

It seems as though he has become more active in other areas and possibly he wants to really pursue those. (Like writing a book on HOW to eat 4 pounds of fruit and veggies a day and not suffer ill effects on our digestive systems. LOL) Whatever he decides to do, I have to admire him for doing this despite his MS. What an inspiration to us all.

Seems he had a bit of a blow-up in the media a few months back, so maybe he knows he has had enough:

I can't imagine the stress he has lived under over the last 10 yrs or so with this disease, especially with such a high profile career. I am glad he has decided to move on . . . at least for the potential benefit for his own health.

Oh....It's been the Sylvia Brown show for a loooong time.

he is a good advocate but I don't think he has ms,my neuro thinks the same thing. he could write another book.:rolleyes:

I used to watch him years ago, but I think he has made his mark and not much else to do....and yes, a bit much on the Sylvia Brown shows...when you start repeating yourself over and over...its time to move on. Oprah seems to evolve...I don't watch her anymore either, but I think she continues to find new things, and feel good topics....she has built quite an empire!

If he doesn't, he's spent WAY too much time researching the disease, and his acting abilities are awesome.

Have you read his book, "Climbing Higher"? The way he describes the emotions and pain he has experienced could only come from someone who has it. He put many sensations, etc. into words for me (finally), and hit them right on the nail.

I can see the problems he has with his legs just by watching the show. I know those movements, I see the pain in his eyes.

There is no doubt in my mind that he has MS.

I loved his book "Climbing Higher"!! I had no idea how much he went through....I've been very lucky not to experience the kind of intense pain he has.

i'm not much of a montel fan, as some of you have saidm too much sylvia brown for my liking but to accuse him of lying about having MS is a bit tough. There are many people with ms who do not show obvious signs but who have significant day to day problems thanks to the ms- it can be very tough to have such a debilitating disease but no one can tell, worst still others think the person is some kind of hypochondriac- surely others with MS could be a bit more understanding- what motivation would he have for lying about it?? i know he says he uses marijuana but he admits he is breaking the law so that can't be it. I agree that at times when he gets up from a chair and starts to move, you can see subtle signs that things are not 100% normal

A lot of the people with ms I have met are the same way. You can't really tell. You may notice some subtle thing if you know what to look for and look really close. And thank goodness.

But it's a tough disease because of that. Because everybody out there judges it.

You get cancer and you're a hero, you get ms and you're a whiner. What's up with that mentality?

Montel has excruciating pain in his legs, sexual disfunction, eye problems, emotional liability (ever noticed he cries on almost every show . . . not to mention his anger issues?), balance problems, etc., but apparently does not suffer from fatigue. On two occasions, he has attempted suicide.

He also has a great attitude, lots of money, is extremely physically fit, and has access to the best help & medical assistance that money can buy.

And . . . he looks so good. ;) :)

In one interview about his book, he said the following:

"I wrote Climbing Higher because I was walking through an airport one day in Chicago and a woman walked up to me using a walker and she stopped me and she said, "Montel, thank God for you. I have MS and I appreciate all that you do and the fact you've put a face to it." We talked for about 5 or 10 minutes about medication, exercise, and then we both had to go catch our flights.

As she turned to walk away from me she said, "But, I've got to tell you one thing. You really do make it hard on us sometimes."

I said, "What do you mean, what are you talking about?"

"My husband says to me, all the time, why can't you be like Montel? He goes to work and he's dealing with this, why can't you be like him?"

I decided to write this book, because I realized that most people out there only know the one-hour-a-day me, and they don't see any weakness whatsoever. I wrote this book so people understand that I'm not Superman. For me, like everybody else that has this illness, it is an everyday thing. Sometimes every hour of the day, but you know what? I decided somebody's got to be in it, and if it's me, I'm in it to win it."

His book is an eye-opener, and unless someone else wrote it for him (but why?), he definitely knows MS intimately.

LadyExp.~~~~ Yes!! I loved that passage, it really moved me, because people do see the 1 hour a day Montel, including our loved ones, and then wonder why we aren't like the Montel they see. I was glad he had the confidence to come out and say what things are really like for him behind the scenes!

I would think the shows are taped..right....so as why during a show..would we for sure see fatigue....

sometimes MS isnt easy to spot by eye...and some dont show the pain they truely are in on their face....

many dont know the sxs I suffer, as I work thru it, parent five kids thru the sxs, and all.....
