Finally!

We got shuttle mission STS-122 off the ground! I'm tired of the Europeans complaining about the delay for the installation of their space station module...

Good launch. 11 + 1 day mission. I'll let ya know if they add the extra day.

Tom

I watched the launch. It was very pretty. I thought the video of the main booster separating was totally cool.

altho, I always get nervous just before they throttle up...I was a big fan of the shuttle and was the class space nerd (I wanted to be an astronaut) who explained the Challenger disaster to everyone.

I still jump a little and start crying everytime I see video of the Challenger disaster. I also cry everytime I see video of Ronald Reagan saying that "they've slipped the bonds of the surly earth to touch the face of god".

I was seriously affected by the Challenger. I got to see it at an air show once a few years before it was destroyed.

I missed it...I think I was sleeping. lol

When they launched from Titusville...I loved to stand in my front yard and watch the sky light up. I would call my kids here and they would go outside and we would all watch it while talking on the phone. lol

One day...I'm going to watch one and feel the heat!! lol Well, maybe not that close...

Thanks for posting those dates.

Tom,

If I could hit the thanks button three or four times I would! I for one truly appreciate your posts! You inspire me to learn more about what is going on with our space program!

I went on the Nasa.gov site and read the whole thing over again! There's a LOT of new info there about future launches and missions, both NASA and the Air Force space programs.

I still wanna be an astronaut!:rocket::BeamUp:

I saw and immediately thought about you. Hope all goes well.
