Rebates

So what are you gonna do with your rebate check this summer?

We'll probably pay off our credit card.

sugarboo 02-08-2008 12:24 PM

Pay a bill, eat....you know, the normal stuff. I certainly won't be buying an HDTV!!!

greta 02-08-2008 12:39 PM

Put it in the bank!

DM 02-08-2008 12:47 PM

Is everyone getting one??

sugarboo 02-08-2008 12:55 PM

All tax payers (workers), including both husband and wife, plus $ for each child.

I keep reading the articles and guess I don't know but maybe someone does??
What about those on SSDI? I am married (my husband works), on SSDI and have a kid. I can't figure it out so I am thinking of the lowest amount possible and anything extra is just gravy. The money will go in the bank for future bills!!

I know that the final bill that was passed also included individuals receiving social security checks.

I am going to hold on tight to my rebate. I can't wait to have some desperately needed extra money. The COLA for Social Security sure didn't match the real world cost of living. I'm glad to have it because every little bit helps.

braingonebad 02-09-2008 08:14 AM

We're gonna pay off our property tax. It used to come out of the escrow, but we don't have that now that the house is paid off.

I know I know, boo hoo, my house is paid off. :lookaround:

I hear you on that. COLA for military retirement was a joke too!

turtle_78 02-11-2008 08:04 AM

We are going to pay for my kids preschool:eek: and maybe go out for a dinner:Starvin:

I wasn't sure, as someone on SSD, how much I would get. So I called my local congressmans office and they said we would still count as a couple. So we are looking forward to $1200. I won't count on it until I get it though. I would like to put the whole amount on the balance of our car loan. Our mortgage will be paid off 6/09, the car 6/11. My husband retires 8/10. I sure would like to be debt free when we go into retirement since we don't know what medical costs will be without his good insurance.
