Buzzing in Head
Does anyone know if hearing and feeling a buzzing in the head can be a symptom of MS?
Thank You. |
Buzzing can be a symptom, though I've never experienced it my head..I take that back ~ I do if I stand up too fast & my blood pressure takes a nosedive (buzz/headrush)..I feel it in my legs quite a bit though. My car stalled out while parked 2x today, and I didn't notice right away cause my legs still felt the vibration I thought was the running car..Geesh..

So, yeah, it might be. I cant tell you for sure tho. |
Yes, it can.
Can you describe it a little more though because I'd hate for you to assume this is MS when it could be something more serious. Is there anything that triggers it, ie. can you "make" it happen? If you can, does it stay only in your head (and where)? Are there other sensations that accompany it, i.e. dizziness, full head feeling, etc.? I think I know the feeling though. :( Cherie |
I feel almost a vibration in my head when I hear the buzzing. For a long time I have had 'ringing' in my head. It's like it is something that has progressed in the last few days. I don't know if it is something cause by one of the lesions and I worry about if it is ms related what it could lead to.
Thank you for you response. The great thing about this site is I learn so much from the experiences of others. I am thankful for all of you who are so willing to share. |

I read this after I submitted my previous message. It seems to worsen when I move around, particularly move my head. I don't really have other symptoms with it... no congestion, dizziness, pain.... just buzzing and vibration. Thanks |
If you move your head directly down, or circle it (like neck-roll exercises), does it come on? After doing this several times, does it stop?
Does it kinda make you feel sick to your stomach? Does the sensation reach down to other parts of the body? The ringing is tinnitus, and can happen because of MS, or because of medications. It can get worse during a flare. Are you experiencing anything else new right now, other then the buzzing and ringing? Cherie |
My other symptoms are actually mild right now. I am having some numbness and burning down my right arm. I'm not sure if the buzzing is worse at that time. I'll be paying more attention. It's one of those things that has recently come up and seems new, so trying to figure it out... I try not to dwell too much, but am starting to be somewhat more aware of things since my dx because you never know when something important might be cropping up that would eventually need further attention. I appreciate your thoughts and am thankful for the input.

also, it doesn't go down to other parts of my body, and does not make me sick to my stomach...

It could be l'hirmettes, but presenting differently. I have had various forms of that, all feeling entirely different from each other.

I've had buzzing in my head. When it happens, it's always in the same place. It sounds just like you would think a bee would sound if it were inside your head, and it will last as long as six or eight weeks.
And yes, it always proceeds a flare. |

That is interesting... I will be sure a pay attention from now on. These little tidbits of information are SO HELPFUL! Thank you!:) |
You know my forehead tingles from time to time, not like when your numb tingling. I tried to tell my DH about this 2 weeks ago and I could find the right way to describe the feeling.

This is a really old post and I'm sorry to bump it but I'm suffering from this same buzzing thing. It's ruined my life. I feel like someone has a electric plug in my head. Please help.

Welcome Bruce, nice to meet you. Occasional buzzing in the head is expected, but constant buzzing could be Tintinitus(SP). See your Doc to see if some med will help you.

Or is it a noise in your ears? Like a roaring sound, or like a fly whizzing around your head, but inside your ear? (that would be tinnitus) I've had tinnitus since I was a small child. I use white noise, like a tv in the background to keep me from going nuts. Or music playing on my laptop, very softly at night. Sometimes I just use a ceiling fan or my floor fan to make the noise in my ears get lost in the background. It gets worse when I've got a cold or an allergy thing going on. Or if I've been somewhere with loud noises, like a concert. Altho a screeching child can set off the roaring sound too. If the noise is loud enough, it seems to make the tinnitus rise in volume once I get away from whatever the loud noise is. The tinnitus also gets worse when I'm having a vertigo attack. I've had the vibrating buzz before, in my hands and side of my leg...and once last year when I this weird zapping buzz on the back of my head. (that was accompanied with pain. Sucked) |
Its really hard to explain. I have had a baseline highpitch ringing in my head since my thyroid disease was discovered about a year ago, however what i have going on i have only seen described with people that have lyme disease. Ive been tested for lymes.
I have had a brain MRI, seen by a neuro. Neropothy in my feet, and a thyroid condition that really is not that bad. Every day around 4 or 5 hours after im awake I get the weird onset of symptoms. Buzzing in head (electrical) dizzy, hard to think. Pretty much dabilitates me. I have to lay on the floor and wait for it to pass. Its not panic disorder. Ive got some of that too, but that is brought on by this LOL. Once the wave passes, im fine... Its almost like mini seizures.... Its NUTS. Its almost like ive got a balace out in my head, or a flourecent bulb in there. The attacks come from no where. Once they pass, I am fine. id like to say they are panic attacks, but they happen at times when i know i am not stressed out. |
