I'm so sick !

:( Hi,
I just have to pop in and say that I am sick, sick, sick, sick !!! I have an abscessed tooth with is causing my migraines to be in full swing and I cannot seem to control the pain for more than an hour or so at a time and then it comes roaring back.

I'm scheduled for a root canal next Tuesday (after hopefully the swelling and infection decrease) - if I live that long ! Obviously, I am missing work too - been out of work for a week now.

I'm so miserable but the the one symptom that I did expect has not occured - my legs are not stiff. So I'm thankful for that - usually when my body gets out of balance any at all - my legs get so stiff I have trouble walking - so I should count my blessings in that area.

Also - I had a bunch of tests on my thyroid last week - one reading came back way out of range (for autoimmune disease activity). It should have been < 60, my result was 624. My doctor is supposed to call and talk to me about that tomorrow - she already gave me info on Hashimoto's Disease - and additionally I recently tested positive for Lupus so I am not certain where my dx are going...

Thank you for reading - just had to say it - I'm so miserable. I am spending almost no time at my computer - just don't feel up to it.

My body is just suddenly revolting (again)...

ewizabeth 03-05-2008 10:36 PM

Snoodles,

I'm so sorry you've been so sick! I hope you can rest well enough until the root canal! And lupus! Boy I hope not, but if so I hope they can treat you for it and make you feel better. Take care and rest!

MSacorn 03-05-2008 10:52 PM

Oh Snoodles
I'm so sorry you're feeling so dang crummy. I have been in you position and am hoping Tuesday gets here soon for you.

Rest as much as you can. Have you tried hot or cold packs for relief? I know hot on my face helps toothaches, and cold on my neck and forhead eases migraines.

Keep us posted. And know we are with you in spirit. Sending oodles of       to Snoodles. Feel better.

hang in there, snood...

I can only comiserate with ya...

root canal here, last spring, plus Trigeminal Neuralgia added to the fun 'n' games.

the RC failed (they couldn't get the whole root)

so, they extracted the tooth, then I got "dry socket"

that whole month is a BLUR in my memory, but I sorta remember what HELPED knock down the pain, like... alternating HOT wet washcloths (that were heated in the microwave) with zip-lock baggies with two or three cubes of ICE.

and one tablet of Fioricet (generic = Butalbital) every 4 to 6 hours also helped.

our thoughts and prayers are with you, as you deal with this horrible thing.

sometimes I think dental-area pain is the WORST, because it's so... invasive... so hard to block OUT.

I'm sorry you are not well, Snoodles.:( I just came home from the Dr., and was diagnosed with Pneumonia. This has got to stop. We all need to go on holiday and get to feeling better.

HSPCraig 03-06-2008 12:57 PM

Dear Snoodles,

I'm so sorry to hear you are suffering. No easy way to put it when dealing with an absessed tooth, migrains, and other symptoms. It sure seems like the dentist could bring you in on an emergency basis to get the tooth taken care of.

I'm a dental phobic but I like pain even less.

Sending healing thoughts your way.

DM 03-06-2008 07:21 PM

Feel better Snoodles.... Toothaches are murder... Are you on an antibiotic or pain meds???? I have had several root canals and the only pain I suffered from was the bill.. Hope your pain subsides soon..

tante 03-06-2008 08:14 PM

Sheeesh, all that going on with test results, and on top of of it you have to have an abcessed tooth and the torture that goes with it?

Sounds nightmarish. I sure hope the antibiotiotics kick in fast.

snoodles 03-14-2008 04:24 AM

Thank you ALL for your very kinds words of encouragement !!!

Believe it or not (and I'm sure if any group of people can understand - it is you all!!!) I am still sick !

I had my root canal - 5 hours in the dental chair - seriously - not even stretching it - 5 HOURS !!!! And, to beat it all, the procedure is only 1/2 done. This tooth had a crown on it which had to first be removed, then the roots have significant curves which all just made the procedure that much longer.

The tooth is much, much better - still pain but nothing like it was. I just cannot get past the migraines and the ear pain. During this whole mess, my left ear apparently ruptured as I woke one morning with drainage from my ear (sorry if TMI). The swelling is down but I am up now - and have been up for several hours due to this relentless migraine and I cannot take any more Imitrex until 6:30 am - so I am just waiting.

As for all the medical tests - turns out my doctor wanted me to come in to the office so she could talk with me (rather than by phone), but I have been so sick that I have twice cancelled appointments but I do plan to go in this morning at 10:00 (assuming the Imitrex kicks in and it normally does).

Sooooo, I do feel better but I still feel awful if that makes sense. I haven't worked in over 2 weeks now but plan to go back Monday. I have honestly, long since passed the time that I should have stopped working. I am just not up to it anymore but I am a widow with no big pools of money lying around so it is a major dilema (that I know MANY of you also face this same struggle)...

Thanks again for all the replies and in spite of all my complaining and whining about how bad I feel :o at least I am FINALLY feeling good enough to sit at my computer and make a few posts and do some reading and catch up a little on everybody here !!!

Note - I cannot get spellcheck to work for some reason so please excuse my speelingt !!! :winky:

DM 03-14-2008 10:08 AM

Ah Snoods.... WOW~ talk about being put through the wringer lately. Am glad to see your update, but sorry you are still feeling so yucky!

Maybe once this dental work is done, you'll feel better. Take care and hope you feel better soon.

Girlie Girl 03-14-2008 11:50 AM

Snoodles, I am sending some snuggles your way! I am hoping you get some relief soon! Hang in there! At least you are feeling better to check some posts...look at the positive...

Kitty 03-14-2008 12:07 PM

:hug:Bless your heart . . . you have really been through it here lately. I'm glad you're at least feeling a little better although not 100% yet.

I wish there was something I could do for you - make you supper, bring you some chicken soup or a book to read or something!

I hope you feel better soon - and don't return to work if you're not feeling up to it. I know, I know...easier said than done sometimes. I can't tell you how many times I drug myself into the office when I had no business being there. Now, since I work from home, I wonder how I'll call in sick!!

Feel better, Snoodles!!

SallyC 03-14-2008 12:54 PM

FIVE HOURS IN THE DENTAL CHAIR!!!!:eek:

Well, Snoods, at least the worst is over and I'm so glad you are feeling a bit better.

I hope all goes well at the Doc's tomorrow...Let us know how it goes..

CayoKay 03-14-2008 01:08 PM

wow, Snoodles, that he!!ish experience sounds similar to mine!

except... my dentist is the ONLY private-pay in the entire district (like a state)

and I didn't wanna GO to the free clinics, lol!

I wanted the red-carpet treatment, I guess...

:cool::D:cool:

she had other patients backing up, and an emergency to tend to, so after three hours, she GAVE UP trying to get that last bit of root.

oh, and did I remember to tell?

the anaesthetic FAILED to fully numb things...

so, she was trying to, er, um, ROOT around in there, and (GASP!) I could FEEL it!

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

AIRMAIL hugs, sent speeding northwards to our sweet Snoodley-one!

snoodles 03-15-2008 07:38 AM

There is much that I want to say but for now I am just saying thank you for your replies.

I have been reading and replying to posts this morning YEA ... but I am so worn out right now that it is taking me a long time to get my thoughts in order. I am going to rest and reply later when it won't take me so long to find my words. :)

YUCK!!!

I just had a previously root-canaled & capped molar removed because one root had broken and it had been infected for 18 months. My worst fear was them leaving a piece in there, getting dry socket, and them having to go back in. GACK!!! That didn't happen, thankfully.

After what I've gone through while ignoring this "inflammation" (translation: INFECTION) in my body for sooooo... long, I just wanted to reinterate:

DO NOT LEAVE dental problems unchecked/untreated. . .

Just like any other infection. Doing so may very well cause the MS to flare up constantly. (Seems like common sense, in retrospect ).

Aw, Snoodles, I am so sorry that you have gone through this. I have had many root canals - some good, some bad. I agree with what someone said, dental pain is close to being the worst pain there is.

Hope you're doing better soon.
