Here's my new Shark Steam Mop
All I can say is THANK GOD FOR THIS MOP!!!!
I have a 30 foot living room, and my kitchen and bathroom add about another 10 to 12 feet. So we are talking over 40 feet to clean. I usually do the swiffer wet thing every day, SO I THOUGHT MY CERAMIC TILE FLOOR WAS CLEAN. I also have a wood floor in my bedroom. Well, get a load of what happened when I used this handy dandy Shark Steam Mop. I am a true believer. The proof is in the pad!!! here's my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_TkMTIFEYE |
I got one, too, Melody and I LOVE IT!!! I have hardwoods throughout my house and was a little worried about using steam on them but it works like a charm.
And......you're not using harmful chemicals to clean - just healthy steam. An added bonus if you have small children or pets. Thanks for your video - isn't it amazing what we find when we think our floors are clean ('cause they LOOK clean!!). |
I'm totally buying one of these! I use the Swiffer wet cloths, too. Seeing your demo was enough proof. The thing I always wondered about the Swiffer wet is that the floor sometimes seems sticky after, so maybe dirt is sticking to the floor.
They have it at Bed Bath and Beyond, so I'm using one of their handy 20% coupons and I'm going to get one. |
That's what I did Holly. I got mine at Linens "N Things and has a 20% off coupon. It's totally worth the money - would be worth it even without the coupon. And....the cloths are washable! You get 2 in the box so when one becomes soiled you can just throw it in the wash and start using the other one.
One thing though, I would not use any fabric softener in my washer or dryer sheets in my dryer when washing and drying this cloth pad because the residue can be transferred to the surface you're cleaning afterwards. |
I'm absolutely hysterical that some of you are going to get this because of me. That is so cool. I'm the type of person, that I need to see something in action before I buy it. So I watch various infomercials.
I knew I would like the Pedegg, and sure enough, I use it all the time. I knew I would like the bonzai chopper. Use it for my veggies. I only buy something if I know I will absolutely use it and it will make my life easier. Honestly, I thought my floor was clean. I would use the Swiffer Wet thingees.(I'll still use this between using this Shark Mop. I make my own Swiffer Wet things. I just take a clean piece of shammy, wring in hot water and go over my floor. But now that I know this thing cleans SO DEEPLY i am in Shark mop heaven. You do have to use some elbow grease to get this thing across the floor. But I found no problem. Actually it was like a mini workout for me. I usually put the same effort into my swiffer but look at the results I got with this one. My friend around the corner got the H20 mop. She loved it. But since I got this one for free, I wasn't about to pass it up. I cannot believe what it got off of my floor. And I got to sterilize my bathroom too. Now I have to get me a portable steamy thing. I know which one I want. I've done the looking around. Here's what I want to buy. I'm saving up for it. http://www.getmonster1200.com/Defaul...clusion&bhcp=1 |

I think it's absolutely hysterical that all of you saw my video and are now getting the steam mop
Guess what? There are only two videos re: The Shark Steam Mop up on youtube. And I'm one of them. You gotta love youtube!!! Happy mopping. |
Count me in as a beliver Mel. I'll be getting one too.
|
steam cleaners are addictive...hehehe...but in a good way.
any yep...the swifter...does leave some chemical behind. i haven't looked real close to the bottem of the shark without the pad...melody...can you take a picture, so i can see if i could attach a micro fiber cloth? that is what i use on my steam cleaner. but the shark looks better for everyday use. ok...i admit...i clean my floors every day. :o my steam cleaner is a canister type..hold alot of water and lasts, but i wouldlike something a little quicker and lighter for everyday. |
Curious.
Hi, I already washed the cloth. It's a micro fiber cloth by the way, with velcro attached thingees. It just sticks to the bottom of the Shark Mop and you peel it off when you are done. Go bck and look at the video and freeze the image when I hold the bottom of the pad up to the camera. Believe me you'll get a taste of what it picks up off of the floor. The next time I clean with it, I'll take some photos and post here on the thread. Imagine this?? I'm posting what comes off of my floor!!!!! lol |
Curious, I just realized you asked to see the bottom of the Shark machine, WITHOUT THE PAD. Oh by the way, I think like McGuyver. If I want something to fit INTO SOMETHING IT'S NOT USUALLY SUPPOSED TO FIT INTO, I design something to make it fit. Take your microfiber pad thingee. If your pad didn't have the velcro stuff to stick to the bottom of the Shark Steam Mop, I'd apply velcro and VOILA, you have made your own Shark Steam mop pad.
I'll take photos and put it in this post. By the way, the Shark Steam Mop comes with 2 micro fiber pads. Some even have the Carpet Glider attachment thingee. Mind didn't but my whole house is ceramic tile so it's perfect just for that. Be back in a minute. Okay, here you go!! http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...arkbottom2.jpg ]http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...arkbottom1.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...arkbottom3.jpg |
That mop is so cool! I've heard about it before, but it's neat to see it in action. Thanks for sharing the video.
And yep, now I gotta have one. :D |
Hi All.
Okay, I just took two photos of the microfiber pad thingee. Top and bottom. So you guys will know EXACTLY what will come with the mop when you purchase it. Here’s the top of the microfiber pad. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...ofiberpad1.jpg Here’s the underside (you can see where the Velcro would stick to the bottom part of the Shark Steam Mop http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...rofiberpd2.jpg |
Melody, You oughta get paid for advertising for them. Look how much was sold because of you.

Only you could make cleaning this much fun. :D |
Somehow ... I'm starting to get tempted...
And y'all are going to get blamed! *laughs* :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: |
I'm telling you, I'm having the time of my life, CLEANING MY FLOORS.
It takes some arm muscle to use this handy thing. I don't mind it a bit. It gets into the grout and into the ceramic tile. I really thought my floors were clean before. They gleamed, they shined. I use to use Swiffers, and Mr. Clean, and Pine Sol (diluted with hot water of course). I used EVERYTHIG from Lysol products to whatever was on sale. They all had one thing in common. They ALL HAD CHEMICALS. I once said to myself. Wouldn't it be nice to clean without chemicals? Last night they showed the informerical on tv again. I made sure to watch and see if I could pick up any tips. The shark steam mop in the infomercial comes with a carpet glider. A square plastic thingee, that you just slip your mop into and you can steam clean any rug or carpet in your house. I only have one carpet, in my computer room. I am not going to pay the $14.95 plus $5.95 shipping and handling to get this piece of plastic. No, I"m GOING TO MAKE MY OWN. Just call me McGuyer Melody. Will let you know if I can do this. I used the mop once again yesteray. You should have seen the bottom of the pad. Holy Cow. I think it picks up more every time you use the thing. I was steaming my house all over the place. STEAM STEAM STEAM. That's me, Melody the Steamer. lol |
:) I'm enjoying mine, too! I cleaned my bathroom floor and holy cow!! I will NOT be posting a picture of what came up off of my floor!! And it looked clean before I started!
Please let us know how your carpet pad creation turns out. I might just place an order for one from you!! You could start your own little side business from this! I like the fact that I'm cleaning without chemicals, too. I always worry that my cats will get into something they shouldn't and be harmed because of it. Happy cleaning!! :D |
Isn't it amazing what comes up off the floor??
I am a Shark Steam Mop advocate. That's for sure. Oh, guess what I'm going to do with my Steam Mop next?? I'm stripping my bed. I'm putting the Steam Mop over my Temper Pedic Mattress Toppers and I'm going to Steam them clean. I wonder if I can steam my walls???? lol Oh, and this might sound stupid, but if my bathroom is ALL tile. Even the walls and ceilings, Can I use the mop upside down and do it on the ceiling?? |
Quote:
 I don't think I'd be using that mop upside down - might get burned by dripping hot water!! |
Quote:
You "might" if you were standing on a ladder ... But now I think 3+ million Psychologists and Psychiatrists are now observing you as a serious case of "Steam-A-Holic" and you're an "excellent case study". :D Just KIDDING!!! http://members.aol.com/floridasweetsun/lol.gif |
lol.
Don't worry, I'm not steaming the ceiling. Might do the walls though. Will let you know how they come out. |

For the shower doors, I saw an infomercial for one of those hand held steamer thingees. They had a squeegee attachments, after they cleaned the mirror and the glass shower doors, they just squeegeed them dry.
I am dying to get the Monster Hand Held steamer. I put the link in an earlier post on this very thread. You gotta see this thing. Oh my god, the steaming power that comes out of this hand held steamer, well I'm saving up to buy that one. I used to have one of those cheap $26.00 hand held portable steamer things. Pure Garbage. Started to sputter and lost steam in over 5 minutes. I do believe you get what you pay for. I've been researching portable steamers and I have made my mind up. I want the Monster 1200. |
You say you can steam clean (put water on) a hardwood floor? I have a hardwood floor in my dining room.
|
Lor:
I watched the informercial and they do a whole segment on Hardwood floors. It brings back the shine. But this only applies to Hardwood Floors, not unsealed wood. Here's a link to the FAQ's of THE SHARK STEM MOP. It says not to use it on unsealed wood. Now I have no idea what Unsealed Wood is. https://sharksteammop.com/contents/FAQs.aspx |

Curious: What do you use your micro fiber cloths for?? They sell them around here. I have felt them, and I don't like the way they feel. It's kind of like putting your nails on a chalkboard. I have no idea why I think like this, but everytime I touch one of these things, that's how I feel. The cloth that comes with the Shark Mop, well, I just peel it off and put it under the water and add a bit of liquid soap and wash and THEN, to dry it, I place it in my Shammy thing and all the water comes out. That shammy thing is the best thing I ever got. |
any wiping. dusting...mirrors...countertops...
they do feel weird, but they hold all the gunk and dust. wash up wonderful. i don't use and fabric softner or dryer sheets. that way you can use them on glass or anything shiney. (chrome, stove top...microwave...) i pretty much use them for anything most people use paper towels for. i don't buy those..i feel like they are wasteful. :o we use micro fiber cloths at the gym too. i do use them on the bottom of my swiffer instead of the throw away cloths. i'm a "green" monkey. :D i hate using chemicals or filling up the landfills. |
I stopped using paper towels about a month ago. I bought the shammy things from Ebay. I cut them up. And I have been using them.
I used to go through paper towels, well, believe me, I used to go through paper towels. These shammy things are amazing. I use them for EVERYTHING. Then I have the big one, (this is the one, when I handwash an item), after wringing it out (and you think you got all the water out of it), well you just place it in this shammy thingee and you roll it up, AND BELIEVE ME, IT GETS ANY REMAINING WATER OUT OF IT. So I'm saving at least $30 a month by not buying paper towels. My ninety nine cents store sells a product (just like Swiffer Wet), that gives you 20 wet clothes for 99 cents. You cannot beat that. I use this in between my shark mop. But now that you mention it, you are right. Why use these at all. When I run out, I'll take a small shammy thing, wring it out in hot water, put it on the bottom of my swiffer, and in between using the Shark mop, I'll just use this. Good idea!!! Thanks. |
I Cleaned My Bathroom Walls And Ceiling!!!
You heard me correctly. And I'm not telling anybody else to do this. I waited until there was only a bit of water in the thing, but it still had steam coming out of it. I went up and down the walls and wow, they sparkled.
I said: "okay, give it a try, if the water starts coming out at you, just turn it back right side up". No water came down. I cleaned my ceiling. Again, this is what I did!! Not saying any of you should take this chance. I had done my floor, my kitchen, my living room, my bedroom. I steam cleaned my whole house. There was a bit of water left. I changed pads, to a sparkling clean pad. Then I did the bathroom. This thing sells itself!!!! lol |
Melody,
Will you please come clean my house??!! :D You seem to have more energy than the Energizer Bunny!! I'm jealous! :p |
lol
It's amazing how much you can get done when you find a cleaning instrument THAT ACTUALLY CLEANS. That actually lives up to its name and does what it's supposed to do. When I get out my mop, Alan starts laughing and says: "There she goes, she's steam mopping again". I have to laugh. And let me tell you, this mop gives you a workout. Now I don't know if it's because I have ceramic tile floors. Maybe it's the same way with linoleum. But I really have to use my arm to move this thing back and forth. But the results are stupifying. I clean my floor practically every day. I steam mop it about 2 or 3 times a week. We have no kids in the house. Just me and Alan. You would think this floor would stay clean. I don't open my windows. It's still winter here. I have no idea. Maybe, the more I do it, it will finally get the floor so ultimately clean that the bottom of my mop won't get black any more. But when you see what this thing picks up, well it's hyterical. I think the next time my landlord sits outside in the back yard and I go and say hi, I'm going to say 'hey Jennie, do you think your floor is clean (she's immaculate), and she'll say "of course" and I'll say "oh yeah, let's just go see'. I'll whip out my mop and she'll get hysterical and she'll go right to the store and buy one. They should pay me commissions. lol |
