Back from the Dr. again

We just returned from seeing the Infectious Disease specialist who ordered a C-T Scan of my chest. It still looks like Pneumonia, so he has started me on home IV antibiotics with Ceftriaxone for 5 days, and then I will see him again. I honestly didn't realise that I was this sick. I was extremely tired, but I thought that was from being sick for SO long. I still have to take the breathing treatments, and they gave me some IV fluids at the outpatient department because he felt that I was a tad dehydrated.:o

We're waiting on the home health company to bring out the IV antibiotics. They started my IV at the outpatient department, and hopefully, it will last for 5 days (it has to come out after that anyway). So, this is a last ditch effort before they admit me to hospital. If you have any prayers or good thoughts left, I could use them now. I really don't want to be a patient in hospital.:o You know what they say.....Nurses and medical personnel make the worst patients, and I know I am not an exception.

Thanks for all of your thoughts and caring this week. I'm going back to bed, it's been an exhausting day. I shall check back with you over the weekend or when I am awake. Have a lovely weekend, you lot!

All the best,
Chris

Chris 03-14-2008 05:52 PM

Thanks you lot. The home health care nurse just left, and I'm about to go "hook up". Oh dear. that sounds horrific. Thank you for all your kind thoughts and lovely graphics.

Kitty 03-14-2008 06:17 PM

Chris,

Good grief!! What an ordeal! I hope the IV antibiotics do what they are supposed to and you're better real soon. Sounds like you've had your fair share of being sick - it's time to get well!

I'm not that far from you - if there is anything I can do for you please let me know. I can grocery shop, make a run to the pharmacy, cook a meal, just anything - I'm willing to help!! I'm going to PM you my phone number so you'll have it if you need it.

Take care - and hope you feel better soon!

tkrik 03-14-2008 06:22 PM

Aw Chris, I do hope you feel better and that the antibiotics work. And, of course I have room for more prayers for you.

Words of encouragement: When DDs were 18 months and 2 1/2 I got pneumonia and pleursy. I am a single mom and the doctor knew that I didn't have anyone close by to help me with DDs so he gave me a shot of antibiotics and a round of oral antibiotics to take over the weekend. If there was no improvement they would have admitted me. If I improved then I was to continue on the antibiotics he prescribed (don't remember what they were as it was so long ago.) My mom drove up (a few hours away) to my house to made sure I was well enough to make the trip back to her house, which I was, and took us there so that I could rest and she could take care of DDs. It worked!!! YEAH! I spent a week at my parents healing and I didn't have to go to the hospital.

Hang in there! I'll be praying for you.

hollym 03-14-2008 08:23 PM

Oh dear! I'm so sorry you are that sick! I will keep you in my prayers. Take care of yourself.

Chris 03-15-2008 12:12 AM

Kelly-That is awfully sweet of you. I've received your message, and so appreciate your willingness to help! More importantly (right now), I hope that you and your family are safe. I just made a post about the weather situation here. I'm terribly frightened, as we just got our electricity back and it is beginning to storm again here.:( Hopefully, this antibiotic will do the trick, but when I am well, I would love to meet with you someday.:)

tkrik-what a lovely story, and I'm so glad to hear that things worked out for you. I can't imagine having to be a single parent and deal with this on my own. Your Mum sounds like a gem.;)

Holly-thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I hope that everyone holds the people of Atlanta in their hearts as well. We've been through a nightmare this evening/morning unfortunately.:Bawling:

Hoping you get to feeling better soon Chris! Stay safe through the storms!

Chris 03-15-2008 02:26 PM

Thank you, Sally and RW. I'm not getting much rest today, as we are holding our breath waiting on the next storm. It starts storming one minute and then it's fine the next. We've got CNN and the weather channel going on both tellies, so we don't miss anything.

My male nurse is being quite attentive today however.:D

SandyC 03-15-2008 02:58 PM

Chris, I am so sorry to have just read this. I noticed you mentioned antibiotics and I was wondering. I hope this works and you don't need to visit the hospital. My prayers are with you for your pneumonia and storms.

Chris** So sorry to hear that the pneumonia has not gotten better :sorry:

You rest take your meds. and try not to worry to much about
the weather. My prayers and good thoughts are with you.
I know it is easier for me to say not to worry but do try.
We are all being your nurse, you have to follow instructions

All kidding aside, I wish you the best of health and that the weather is going to be OK

Jappy

LOL, Jappy! Today the Pneumonia was secondary to losing my life to a tornado.:winky: It's all a matter of perspective I suppose. Tomorrow, I'll go back to complaining about being sick. Today, I am happy to be alive; sick or well!:)
