Okay, here's where I want to live:
 

There is some snow, but not much. Enough to make it Christmasy, but it does't last for months and months.

Summers are not too hot or too humid. Longer springs and autumns, please.

Traffic is light. No cloverleaf or multi-lane highway in my neighborhood.

No tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, poisonous snakes, grizzly bears, active volcanoes, alligators, weekly blizzards, flying waterbugs, mountain lions, scorpions, or packs of wolves.

I'm thinking a small city/large town. I'd like to be able to walk to the Post Office, church, somewhere to pick up a loaf of bread and a jug of milk. Public transportation would be nice.

Low crime rate, and low housing cost would also be a plus.

How am I doing? Do you recognize your neighborhood yet as my "dream home", or do you need more details? :D

Sounds like a dream. Wouldn't mind living there either. ;)

Too bad we have lots of traffic in our area, and we've had lots of snow. Our springs and autumns are way too short. Definitely not talking about my town. :(

When you find it please let me know - maybe we could be neighbors!! :)

poisonous snakes? :eek: got 'em, galore... WORST one is the Fer de Lance, FATAL!
earthquakes - :confused: occasional.
hurricanes? :eek: TWO Cat 5's last year!
scorpions? :eek: FIVE INCH LONG one, on bathroom floor last night!
mountain lions? :eek: we have FIVE kinds of wildcats - Ocelots, Jaguarundi, Jaguars, Margays, and Pumas. :eek:
alligators? :eek: yep, and crocodiles too!

Belize only has a handful of towns in the whole country, and only ONE city.

my post office, church, and store are walking distance from my house.

HUGE vegetable market is 10 min away, on hwy.

public transport? pretty good, and VERY cheap, only $1.50 to go to veggie market!

housing costs? VERY low...

crime rate? VERY low, except in Belize City.

okay, add 'em up...

guess Belize only scores about 50% on the "B2Y Dream Scale"

B2 - sounds a lot like where I live. And I mean that seriously. There are some planned communities in my neck of the woods that are doing just that!

There are some others but this one is pretty darn nice. There are couple more cropping up that are less expensive, but our weather is pretty moderate - we don't get much snow, just enough to keep us aware that we do live in the high desert, we live in Zone 5 temperature wise, we are at 3500' elevation, very rarely do we see temps above 95 in the summer and that's only in August for a short period of time, and no humidity. If we get above 35 percent, we are complaining.

Earthquakes??? Nope.

Lots of wildlife, but they stay in the mountains, you go to them. Lots of birds. We have Blue Heron that nest in the pond in our back yard. Bald Eagles, hawks of all sorts...

No tornadoes.

Our annual rainfall is 11 inches.

Idaho is a very nice place to live. Low crime rate and a very low unemployment rate.

So, yes, when I read your post, I saw my neighborhood! My community as a whole. Cost of living is good here. Property taxes are average, we do have a 6% sales tax, but Oregon is close by and they do not have a sales tax! LOL!

Nope. Northern Idaho is bit more moist and hilly than Southwestern Idaho. Eastern Idaho is alot flatter and gets more snow and is a bit more hot in the summer...the middle part is mostly Wildernes, http://www.wilderness.net/index.cfm?...eView&state=id

It's beautiful, especially by air! Lots of fishing!

We are in the Columbia Basin so it's mostly high desert, but not desert as you would think desert sand and tumbleweed.

Boise is known as the City of Trees for a reason. Lots of trees. Hells Canyon National Park runs through the state as does the Snake River and several other well known rivers. We are one of the largest areas for white water rafting and fly fishing!

Gee, maybe I should be on the Tourism Board for Idaho! ;)

Sorry, we do have mosquitoes...but they are small...they don't carry off small children!

Perrysburg, Ohio. Gets a Okay on everything except the maybe on tornadoes. Havent had one there in my recall, but it's not out of the realm of what could happen. No poisonous animals though. Less snow then you get.

Cheaper housing, and public transport - for now.

Traffic... if I can drive it, anyone can. You can get anywhere in PBurg with out getting on a major highway. (And no, 795 is not a major highway, lol it's a cakewalk)

Nice clean town, good schools, good shopping. Never hear about any crime.

Could you add 'no howling wind storms'? I can't stand it! It has been 3 days and 3 nights of this 'roaring' treatment. Otherwise, your list is perfect! Sign me up when you find this perfect place.

Oh, please, add no mosquitoes! I don't like their bites because I react to them something fierce. I guess the West Coast of Florida is out...

Sounds very much like where I live right now!!

Small city, 1/2 mile from the shopping centre, & church... and there's a bus stop 100 yards from the front door. Very low crime rate, and you can still buy a 3BR brick & tile family home for under $200,000.

We don't have snow at Christmas (well, we did once....but only on the mountain tops), and even in the middle of winter (July) it rarely ever snows in the cities and towns. And we do have snakes.........not in the cities, only out in the country areas, but they are poisonous.

Well, now I want to live in Idaho. . . . it looks absolutely perfect except I could not afford a home in the subdivision FG posted about. Unless, of course, I win the lottery so I'm gonna have to start buying tickets now.

I am dreading the summer weather here - hot, humid with severe thunderstorms & tornadoes which seem to be getting worse.

My son Kevin told me last night that once he gets his truck paid off he is building his own house with an apartment for ME!!! Is that not the sweetest thing?! Guess I don't annoy him as much as I assumed I did! :D

Yes, indeed, Southie! Tomorrow is Resurrection Day, and I can't help thinking about my final home--no poisonous snakes and other beasties there! Woo hoo! (I'll see you at the House!)

But for now, can't help looking around our beautiful world and thinking about some "heavenly" places to live!

So far, Idaho gets my vote, but there are a couple of close seconds! I love where I live, if it just weren't WINTER fifteen months of the year!!!

I'm with you, B2, the sooner the better for me.

In the meantime, I feel that I have struggled through my last MI winter and I'm going to get serious about finding the next, and hopefully, last stop. The cold doesn't bother me that much, it's the flippin' snow knocking me down and trapping my wheels that I can't stand anymore.

How bad is east Memphis? Is it a ghetto?
